week 1
[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.
The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.
If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.
Enjoy your week, everyone.]
[ooc: This is the last mod post for the week for us! Feel free to start depositing coins in the merch booth if any of your threads have reached that length, so long as they're not with the Balladeer. Remember, song threads mean double coins! There will be no murder this first week so gain all the CR you can while it lasts, darlings.]

The kitchen is another one of her stops. The future is so fascinating. She's never seen anything like this back home! This was all so futuristic that she has no idea what any of this does. She can be seen playing with the mixer, giggling in delight as the beaters turn. The stove is another target of curiosity. She doesn't know what it does until the plates start glowing red... and she lightly burns her fingers trying to figure out why. Ow. Otherwise she's found the candies and happily munches away on them.]
This place is amazing!

...Well, he would be, but it just so happens that, after a distressing day of revelations, the Viscount would very much like a meal. An army marches on its stomach, and all that. So he's in the kitchen, a bit confused by the very miraculous-looking devices and a bit wary of the fresh food in the (admittedly cool) electric ice box. After all, who knows what the Balladeer's mysterious manager has had put in this stuff?
He's currently rummaging around the cabinets looking for something he doesn't have to cook, but so far he's found boxed macaroni and cheese, cans of soup, and other things that require the use of the foreign stovetop.
Someone help him. Raoul has never cooked a day in his life.]

Before long after finding the room, a melody starts coming from inside the room. It's played very well, almost perfectly. She won't stop if anyone comes in, but she will glance up from the keys for a moment to look at them before turning her attention back to the piano.]

The Law may have forgotten to eat dinner. Not lunch, mind you, but it's somewhere around 10 pm and Javert has only just remembered that he should probably actually...eat. So cue Javert attempting to enter the kitchen after 10 pm which is to say, he can't.
The Law will go hungry this Monday night.]

Did I abuse her
Or show her disdain?
Why can't she remember me?
If I should lose her,
How shall I regain,
The heart she has won from me?

Is the only thing out of your reach...

TUESDAY

Still, though, she looks wary and shaky as she has been since they got here. The morning is spent inspecting the lobby, with most of her time pressing her back against the walls just in case someone decides to try and get out. ...this is making trying to jiggle the doorknob and inspect the lock look like some kind of contortionist act.
After that failure, anyone would start getting hungry. In the kitchen just before lunchtime, she takes a deep breath, rolls up her sleeves, and starts peeling potatoes choppily and messily.]
How did Yuuko do this without cutting herself all the time? [She bandages her hand and washes the peeler for the fifth time.] Maybe that song of hers would help...
[Later, Hime can be found appraising everything in the costume shop again. Anything that could possibly be found in her size will be checked against her, and she's commandeered one of the dining carts to amass a pile of clothes.]

He barely slept at all last night but hey, that's still more-or-less okay for him.

Costume Shop, OTA + 1 private prompt (cw: strangulation), first come first serve
(No one has, in fact, informed Raoul that he will have to clean his own clothes. You uh. Might want to.)
For a bit, you'll find him going through the men's clothes options, making very thoughtful choices for what he decides to pull out for his own use. Most of the clothes, however, get a sneer.] Eugh. I know it is a costume shop, but these are particularly unsightly. Who would choose to wear this?!
[However, for one person, you'll find Raoul somewhat different. He's taken off his suit jacket and unbuttoned the collar of his shirt to try something that might not be too bad, but he's stopped, and is carefully probing his throat whilst looking in a mirror. Though a couple of days old, there are clearly bruises from something that had been around his neck - and he does not look pleased at all. In fact, it seems to be more of a restrained distress.]
Strangulation fun!

He spent the first day keeping to himself. It's only when he spied the makeup box outside his door he dared to pick it up. What in the world...it was an enigmatic gesture on part of the showrunner. But nonetheless, perhaps Winslow can liven up his only visible eye with a dab of eyeliner. Make his face look somewhat more presentable as he ventures outside like a silent bird of prey once more.
Later in the day, he's over in the storage closet. Winslow is keeping inventory, looking over each item to see if they have an possible use in escape. There's matches, but no gasoline or anything to start a big enough fire like he discussed with Raoul. He would have to keep going over these items, formulating ideas. Care to be the one to sneak up on him for once?]

This entire place is a mess but you know what, since apparently that guy with the other Billy's face isn't screwing around, there's not too much point in balking about it and entirely too much point in figuring out what's going to be useful around here and what is not.
The storage cabinet seems like as good a place as any to start, if for no better reason than somebody should probably figure out exactly how long this stuff is going to last in an emergency and while he'd prefer to leave that to somebody else, he'd also prefer to not die due to something idiotic. So, inventory it is, albeit an informal one that's mostly a mental tally of what's most likely to be messed with in some sort of heroically stupid way or another.
...Yeah, this goes about as well as one would expect given that he's from 1924. Duct tape is...new but more or less self-explanatory upon closer inspection, in the form of ripping off a length of it just to see how good it is at its job (very good, actually); the batteries aren't exactly foreign but they're decidedly smaller and don't appear to be zinc-carbon, so that's a thing that's happening and he'll kind of turn over a packet of the little ones before setting them aside to take with and figure out where exactly they're supposed to go; the WD-40 is...]
And what are you supposed to be.
[That is the flattest thing in the world, uttered while he's turning a can of it over in his hands to try to find some sort of instructions because he's not a damn idiot but what the hell are these and why are they here.
...It's going to be a long stay.
Otherwise, he can be found in the kitchen, trying to find something that he trusts to not kill him (something easy and nonperishable, really, those are probably least likely to be tampered with? who the hell knows, though, with a lot of the things in here) and otherwise sifting through the clothes in the costume room - thankfully the things in here aren't all gaudy messes; a lot of it actually looks weirdly presentable, as far as he's concerned, though that's likely a product of the times than anything. Sizing is an adventure but self-explanatory enough; none of this is going to be properly tailored and that's going to be annoying – and, indeed, he is at least slightly irritated before he glances over to the sewing machines, at which point something seems to click.]
Well, here's hoping somebody's acceptable with those.

Or later, she can be found in the kitchen, taking ingredients out and sort of... staring at them. It's not that she can't eat, of course, or even that she doesn't need to, but she hasn't prepared her own food before and even then it's been... Hell Food. Which sometimes isn't different except it glows a little, but. It might look weird, to a bystander.]

Valjean will be in the storage room for much of the morning. He appears to be sorting through the boxes, taking down notes on everything available there, and pushing the more useful items to the front. The military rations, matches, tool sets, and blankets appear of particular interest. In the end, he takes a few of the rations with him, but leaves the vast majority of it, as well as the list sitting on one of the shelves by the door.
When that's done, he'll go back to the kitchen to have some breakfast. The appliances are of interest, but he doesn't entirely trust himself in using them, and anyway he's only a middling chef. He'll just have some simple toast.
Hopefully Javert will not find him eating bread.
Sometime in the afternoon, he'll also be hanging around the costume room, apparently scouting out some new clothes. A lot of this is strange, but there's enough things he recognizes. Finding things in his size might be slightly more difficult - he's not what he was, but he's still a fairly large man.]

It hasn't worked, obviously.
By Wednesday he's actually settled down a bit. If you're up early in the morning as soon as the kitchen opens, you can find him rifling through the cabinets and stealing candies. Look, he is a pirate and sometimes pirates steal stuff! Also these candies are great, he needs at least five hundred of them. He'll be intentionally avoiding the stove, but he's gotten used to the refrigerator so after raiding the candy he'll be looking in there for something to actually eat for breakfast.
Later on in the day you can find him in the storage room, where he's taken to... putting stuff in a blanket? Yes. Once the blanket is loaded up he picks up the ends to create a makeshift sack and takes all the stuff back to his room. Who needs that much stuff?? Does the Pirate King really need that many candles? How about that much rope? Why are there so many matches?? There's also a good amount of duct tape in there, though that's the only thing he takes that he doesn't recognize, the WD-40 and the batteries are staying right where they are. He's not taking everything, of course, but this is a good amount for one man. He'll also be returning here afterwards to grab a few more spare blankets. Huh.
In the evening, you'll find the door to room #19 is open a crack and if you glance in you'll see the Pirate King decorating. Those blankets he stole earlier are being fastened into a canopy and while having that many candles is definitely a fire hazard, the place looks a lot nicer and cozier when it's not lit by the bright lights on the vanity.
The Pirate King seems proud of his work, anyway.]

Hey, a Viscount partakes in several hobbies, and if he can't do a little pretend fencing while he's stuck here, he's going to get slow and tired far too quickly in the future. That just will not do!
