WEEK 1

[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.

The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.

If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.

We're not... my parents aren't bad. They try. We just... I'm not very close to them...and it really is just...something I do every so often. Not something that seems worth talking to them about.

[It's not at all a long walk, since the costume shop is literally right next door to the music room so alright here we are.]

Alright... Ah, let me see.

[She sits at the piano and starts to play, pressing each key gently.]

[she listens until d-ne is done, only speaking up after she's finished.]

Oh, yeah, you're horrible. Absolutely the worst.

[She turns to Natalie in surprise.]

You...think I have talent? Ah... Thank you.

[seems she speaks sarcasm]

I mean, it's not like you could have done that overnight. It's not a big deal to notice.

What made you want to learn how to play?

I think...many refined people liked to play, so I thought if I learned...it would be something interesting to do!

[that's how you say "i thought it'd make me more likable and less dead inside" in polite conversation right???]

Oh, come on. It's not like you aren't refined or whatever.

[She waves a hand and smiles.] I'm formal and polite, but nothing like the ah, elite.

Why don't, ah, you play something now, if you'd like. I'd love to hear it.

Oh, uh... Sure.

[she sits down on the bench, thinks for a few moments, and then begins to play. she's very good.]

[To say D-ne is captivated is a bit of an understatement. Her breath catches and she's content to listen until Natalie's done, hands folded at her chest and eyes wide in amazement. When she is done, she'll say:]

I've never... You're amazing.

Oh, no. I mean...

[compliments are hard. she pauses, looking at the ground.]

Really! It's the best I've ever heard. How long have you been playing, to sound like that?

That's so not true, but... Since I was a kid. At least ten years, probably.
