WEEK 1

[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.

The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.

If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.

Actually, when he returns, he's got several of them, but he only opens one.]

It would be best to keep some of these here. Have one of the little sticky bandages. They seem very useful.

[Hime puts a bandage on, washes the potato peeler, and gets back to hacking at the potatoes.]

Thank you. I usually end up needing a lot of these. [sigh] They don't have anyone here to cook for us, and I don't exactly do this a lot. I've learned a couple things, though!

[Valjean takes up peeling alongside her without comment.]

Oh, yes, this is certainly a learning experience. I am used to cooking for myself at times, but not with anything like this. [Glancing around at the...modern kitchen at large.] What do you know how to make?

My friend taught me to make a few things, like cake, cupcakes, tamagoyaki... I might not always get them right, but I try. I guess food is more important than you'd think, because it... has the cook's feelings in it or something?

[breakingbread]

[He hums thoughtfully.]

No, I understand. Breaking bread together is important, isn't it? It's a way of providing for someone.

I know someone back home who really loves food, because she sees it as a way to make people happy and share your feelings. What do you think?

[breakingbread]

I think that's quite wise. There's nothing that warms you up quite like a good meal, from a kind friend.

I do miss sharing dinner with my daughter.

Your family must really be worried, huh?

[breakingbread]

I am afraid she must be. Cosette and I have only each other - she can go to the abbey for help, certainly, but I worry what will happen to her if I am gone too long.

Have you any family?

[rockthistown]

[She nods.] My parents back in the Blue Sky Kingdom. And I have friends I'm with in Pikarigaoka, where I live at the embassy.

[breakingbread]

[Valjean nods in return.] I'm sorry.

I hope that we can return to them, when this is over. I'm worried that the management of this place seems able to access anyone they please, at any time... [He considers himself wary, but he's far from the most protected here. The royalty must have had guards. What became of them?]

I know. Nobody should've gotten into the embassy without being noticed, and we should have gotten free of here by now.

[breakingbread]

They're very sure of themselves, to take so many important people. With any luck, that arrogance will be their undoing.

[But probably not.]

They must have left some clues behind in our homes when they took us. No one is so thorough as to avoid it.

Right! And the people back home know how to find someone who's lost or been taken. It's happened before.

[breakingbread]

Has it? Not to you, surely?

[rockthistown]

Not technically! [hime what does that even mean] But there was one time, a few months after I came to Pikarigaoka, where children were being taken. Um, sort of technically. Their minds were being taken to this dream world and their bodies were still asleep and couldn't wake up. I know it doesn't sound realistic and my home is a little different, but it's true!

[breakingbread]

[...............what]

I believe you. [Not that he knows what to make of it, but.] This place gives us little room for doubt. Were the children rescued?

[rockthistown]

[She nods.] We have people called Precure. A lot of worlds have legends about them, where people will become Precure to help them if they need it. And, um, Earth already has at least forty just in one country, so it turned out okay.

[breakingbread]

[lol he didn't really get any of that]

I'm glad to hear it. Are Precure...like magical police? [GIVE US MAGICAL GIRL JAVERT]

Well, there is a police officer PreCard, but more like... legendary warriors? That's how they're always described, anyway.

Ah, I see. I think.

[He doesn't.]

Such things are only tales, where I am from.

I get the feeling it's that way for a lot of people, which is weird.

Strange how many different worlds there are, isn't it? I never imagined there was more than one, and now this.

Uh-huh. I think a lot of people were from places that never saw another world. It's hard to get used to.
