WEEK 1

[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.

The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.

If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.

[Hime has had quite enough. On the wall beside the entrance to the women's washroom, you'll find a piece of paper taped up with storage room duct tape:]

WHOEVER RUNS THIS PLACE IS A PERVERT
(because we don't have our own showers)
It's hard to shower and keep an eye on your stuff at the same time in here! It could get stolen if you leave it outside the stall, but nobody wants to run to their rooms in towels with everyone else in the hall.

[She hasn't signed it, but you might have seen her grumbling in soaking wet clothes this morning.

Today, she's going to try out the music room and... attempt every instrument in there. She puts them all down as soon as the first terrible note comes out, though, and quickly ends up with a pile in front of her.]

Why don't these come with any instructions!?

[All day, D-ne's been vigilant, as if she's expecting someone to pop up behind her and attack. That's why as she walks by the music room, fully intending to stroll past instead of making a detour, Hime's shout causes her to startle more than she usually would, and it draws her attention.

Thankfully, it's just the frustrated girl, but this means she can't help but watch from the doorway.

Hime's a little nervous about her. It would be good and right to leave her be, but...]

A- are you...trying to learn to play something?

[Hime jumps, startled, and drops the violin bow. Sheepishly, she picks it up and looks over.]

I can't get the hang of anything.

[She waits a moment, and then enters the room gingerly.]

Hime-san... How long did you try at east instrument?

Maybe not that long... But what else are we supposed to do in here?

If you want to actually get good at something, you have to work at it, Hime-san. Go through all these instruments again and find the one that feels best, even if it doesn't sound that way. Then you practice.

But how do I know what feels best?

You'll just know. Try the violin again. Go on.

[squeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak this is painful]

I don't think this is going to work!

Gentler. You have to have a steady hand and patience, whatever one you choose.

Do you play anything? You sound like you know a lot about it.

Only a little piano. I just know a thing or two about playing things in general.

Hmm... Do you have any other suggestions?

Hmmm... Observe.

[She gestures for Hime to follow her to the piano where she plays a bit of a melody, only up to the end of the chorus. Strangely, she doesn't sing any words along, just plays, focused solely on the keys.]

[Hime watches, trying to notice anything that might make it look special. D-ne is good, but...]

I don't get it. You just feel some kind of connection with whatever instrument you end up wanting?

[Her smile this time is more openly a smirk.]

I don't play, I cultivate. I carefully craft. I put all my thought into the moment...and I want it hard enough. This is important, Hime-san, you have to want more than anything. The more you do, the more determination you'll have to accomplish your goal.

So... sort of like Seymour-san and the avocados?

Is that who's doing that...? Yes, you can look at it that way.

I don't know, he just seems really dedicated to his plant science.

Well, uh, yes, then, like that. Like Seymour-san's plants.

I don't know... I guess there isn't a lot else to do in here, so you have to be really into whatever you do. I love fashion, but even with just that, it's kind of boring here.

That's why it matters even more to put your all into what you can...isn't that what they say?

Even something as simple as choosing an instrument, huh...
