WEEK 1

[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.

The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.

If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.

[With the clipboard thanks to the Balladeer communication is much easier now, yet nonetheless he feels a loss for his voice and face. He wasn't sure if anyone could truly fix his situation unless he escaped or faced the showrunner personally. And it looked like the showrunner wasn't going to appear any time soon. Not if anyone was planning to kill anyone. He wasn't making any plans for murder. He may be an edgy, occasionally rage-filled person, but Winslow didn't feel himself a murderer.

He spent the first day keeping to himself. It's only when he spied the makeup box outside his door he dared to pick it up. What in the world...it was an enigmatic gesture on part of the showrunner. But nonetheless, perhaps Winslow can liven up his only visible eye with a dab of eyeliner. Make his face look somewhat more presentable as he ventures outside like a silent bird of prey once more.

Later in the day, he's over in the storage closet. Winslow is keeping inventory, looking over each item to see if they have an possible use in escape. There's matches, but no gasoline or anything to start a big enough fire like he discussed with Raoul. He would have to keep going over these items, formulating ideas. Care to be the one to sneak up on him for once?]

[Heather almost walks past him as she bustles through the hallway, but she takes the time to stop and peer at him curiously. She assesses the one visible eye, then gives a firm nod of approval.]

Bold eye statement! [Really, she's just delighted to see someone else using the makeup kits.]

[Oh yes, the young lady with the fashion obsession. He supposed that out of everyone here she seemed the most okay with the situation unfolding.

He wrote out. "I thought it would be a good stage look."]

[She's still convinced this is some elaborate ransom event. It's like a vacation from high school!

...A vacation full of freaks, but a vacation.] Verily. Is that what your deal is? You're trying to be some kind of rock star? [A bad one, if he isn't talking. ]

[It's like a vacation from sanity too.

He scrawls again. "I'd like to be. I want to get signed on to a big record label."]

You've got the look at least. [Does she sound a little doubtful? Her tone isn't quite right. She's trying real hard to be nice, but old habits die hard.]

[...granted he's got the helmet so he'll take it for a grain for now.

Scrawling again.

"Do you want to work in fashion?"]

That might be fun. Actually I planned on being, like, a trophy wife. [DREAMIN' BIG.]

[A moment of silent staring. That's it?

"You could be more."]

...Really? You think so? [THAT'S SO NICE. Really, she doesn't know if she can.

["My aesthetic judgement comes before all else. You have an eye for aesthetic too."]

[Don't worry, the Pirate King doesn't do stealthy very well (except when he does) and his footsteps are loud enough to probably get Winslow's attention. Even if they don't, the Pirate King's voice probably will.]

[Winslow spins around once he hears the Pirate King make an entrance. Strange fellow, that Pirate King.

He scrawls again on his clipboard.

"Something here could help with our escape."]

[He checks the clipboard and nods.]

Oho, I see! Have you made any progress so far?

[dieformymusic]

[Back to the previous item.

"Only some matches. Not sure if we can burn our way out."]

Possibly not the smartest idea. We are in an enclosed space and if the fire did not manage anything, we would all surely die.

[He strokes his chin in thought.]

But it is an idea to consider!

["One at least."

More rummaging.

"We could use this rope to try reach the troof."]

Ah, indeed! We'll need to find a good place to climb up, but certainly we can get a look at what's up there...! What a brilliant idea!

[Smiles. Oh you're a pretty uplifting guy. No pun intended.

"I'm sure we can find something I know backstage well."]

Do you? Are you an actor, then?

Oh, it just occurred to me - I didn't catch your name! I am... the Pirate King!

[dramatic pose]

["Musician."

Wait that can't be really his name. But yeah, he'll give his own.

"Winslow Leach."

Pause.

"Are you known by any other names?"]

A musician is a fine profession as well! Do you compose or play an instrument? Or both?

[Or sing, but uh. You're doing a lot of writing so hopefully it's not that one.

Anyway, he shakes his head at the question.]

I do have another name, but I have not used it in a very long time. I am the Pirate King! Another name is simply not necessary!

["A true musician does all. Sing. Compose. Play."

That...is a little odd. Then again there is a producer that everyone just knows as SWAN.

"Are you lord over a pirate ship? Or is it a pirate confederacy?"

Explain this system of pirate governance.]

[Wow, this guy's a real deal, huh? That's really awesome.]

Just a ship! There are not many pirates in Penzance; my crew are the only ones who are routinely in the area!

[...it's not a system of governance so much as it is "he liked the title, so he named himself that".]

[Manning your own crew still sounds like a big task...even if giving yourself a name like the Pirate King is odd.

"Must be great to go sailing. I've never been to the sea."

His travels have been mostly trailing the Juicy Fruits in order to sneak an audition.]
