WEEK 1

[With the introduction of their showrunner and a brief run through of what they're in for in their time in the Opera House out of the way, the performers are free to explore the first floor of the opera house at their leisure then and for the rest of the week that lies ahead. The double doors leading to the kitchen will be unlocked at 7 am and locked at 10 pm for intermission. Performers are free to prepare meals for themselves and others at any time outside of intermission.

The Merchandise Booth will also be open for business after the first day as some of the performers may find envelopes with their names on it taped to their doors in the morning.

If performers wish to have private conversations with their showrunner, The Balladeer, just step up to the box office and see if he's in.

[He's already standing and offering her a hand, because that's a bit more concerning than the locked windows. For the moment, anyway.]

[She got it right, right? She does take the hand proffered and goes to pull herself up.]

You're quite welcome. Ah, I'm afraid I can't recall your name off the top of my head and I left that little booklet back in my room... What is your name, miss?

[She nods.]

Everyone calls me just Astarte, though.

[Oh good, he can definitely remember that!! Not all three names though, they're a lot.]

Astarte, then! I've never heard a name quite like that before, it's very unique!

[The good sort of unique, from the sound of it.]

I was named after the goddess.

[Her tone takes a hint of pride when she says that.]

Astarte, the purest and truest star.

A goddess, eh? I've not heard of one by that name. But that certainly is a magnificent person to be named after! May you live up to it!

Mm. I plan to.

[Its just a question of how she'll do that. She's still...undecided, thankfully for everyone else.]

...Is Pirate King your real name?

It is not! I do have another name, but I have not used that in years. I am the Pirate King! It is as much my title as it is my name, my being!

Not important. It isn't a name I've used in years, so why bother with it now?

I guess. If you believe Pirate King to be your true name.

Indeed I am! I couldn't be happier to be a pirate! There is nothing in the world I would rather do!

...And...you're their ruler, too?

"Ruler" is a bit harsh for my tastes. I'm their leader; I do not lord over them but I do guide them!

[solomonjihad]

...Isn't that the same thing, though? A ruler is a leader...

[A good leader is strong and powerful, as mother would say. Able to stand alone when no one else could.]

"Ruler" tends to bring to mind thoughts of tyranny and control, while a leader is someone who guides others. That is how I think of it, anyway. Thus the distinction!

...even if you have to be stern, you're just a leader?

Indeed! I have not often had to be stern with my crew. They're very well-behaved!

That seems...surprising. They follow you no matter what...

Is it truly that surprising? Would you not follow someone who inspired you and believed in you? Who pushed you to do your best, no matter what? That is the sort of leader I aspire to be! My crew are the closest I have to a family and I cherish each and every one of them!

[solomonjihad]

....for me....that's mother.

Truly, she is a leader...
