Week Three
[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.
This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.
Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]
Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday
(( Be sure to submit your memory regains and your AC for this week! Hester's office hours and the merch booth also remain available! ))

... But it doesn't feel awesome? Even in just the last couple weeks, her perspectives have sort of. Shifted. So she's mostly trying to avoid thinking about it!
First off, she heads towards the regains machine to redeem a few of her coins! She gets a few things, including a photo and a telephone that slightly unnerve her and uh. A picture of Connor that doesn't seem quite right. But if you aren't Connor, you'll probably see her slightly losing her shit over a lizard. ]
What were you even doing in there? What do you eat? Do you know that I love you?
[ And then, carrying her new lizard in her mostly emptied popcorn container, Janis heads out to raid the new areas for things to do. After all, if they make the motives a weekly thing, better to have fun today before they emotionally knock half of the people she knows.
She starts in the library, going through the movies. ]
Why does every school have some of these?
[ Or, later on, she's relaxing in the teacher's lounge, new scarf from the vending machine around her neck and camcorder on the table in front of her - next to a couple basic film-making books and a few snacks raided from the room. What, she's going to be able to hang out in a teacher's lounge and not take some Teacher Snacks? ]
Okay so like... I don't know what state we're in, so I'm covering my bases - permission to film you? I kinda want to try some documentary work while we're here, and uh. You know, could be useful to have a video record, someday.
regains
Hey. Something from home? [Now that he's closer, he looks down at the photo and freezes.] Oh.
[He doesn't make a move to take it, just stands there looking at it. The last time he saw that photo, he was burning it. The copy in his phone fared slightly better: he only cropped Miguel out of it, because it's the rare photograph of himself that he didn't hate and he thought he might need it in the future.]

Oh, um, sure? Is that a camera?
[ Orpheus points at the thing in front of her that isn't snacks or books. It doesn't look like the other ones, but it has a lens on the front, and she's talking about filming, so. He steps into the room fully and sits down across from her. ]

Armor! [Hell yes is he putting on the Gorgeous Breastplate on right here, over his uniform. As he finagles with the ribbons, he drops the engagement ring, and it rolls on the floor beside him.
Once he finishes, an entire deer pops out, staring at him with its dark, souless plastic eyes.] Actually, I'm leaving you here.
[After dropping a few things off at his room, he stuffs the things he wants to give away in the suitcase and rolls over to the costume room, where he cobbles together a more princely outfit, paired with black opera gloves. Satisfied, he looks for Elle around the building.
In the evening, he rests in the lounge, pulls out his copy of Don Juan Triumphant, and reads.]

She goes to poke around the new areas, eventually settling in the law section of the library.]
Well, I guess I probably have some studying to do.
[After picking up a few books and dropping them off in the dorm, she takes the handful of coins from beside her bed and heads to the concession stand. A few things pop out, including a law book that was actually on her book list! She about to walk away when she feels the last coin in her pocket.]
Might as well.
[It's a good thing she put the other stuff down, because suddenly there is a very exuberant chihuahua flying at her. She catches the dog-]
Bruiser? [And immediately bursts into tears. The tiny dog licks her face as she holds him close and sinks to the floor of the concession stand.]</small.

Re: bruiser

As he nears the end of his coins, something rattles ominously in the machine. It clanks and thuds all the way down until it comes out: a wooden staff fashioned as both walking stick and makeshift light with three seperate vials tied with rope to the larger end in green, blue, and pink. And while Varian may not have a memory of actually putting it together, he saw it in his hand during the dream he'd had the night prior. It's as familiar as the back of his hand.]
Yes!!
[He carefully pulls it out so as not to break the vials, lifting the staff up so he can turn it over and check for damage.]
I- I can't believe it, the vials haven't been broken! They still work!
[Later on, Varian gathers up as much of his extra junk as possible and sets himself up in the Cafeteria for a Yard Sard. There's a paper on the table that reads:]
Got too much junk from the machine, willing to trade for tools, parts, and other things you might not need! Feel free to take whatever you'd like without trading, too.
[Who knows, maybe something here belongs to you? Or you just really want that Grizabella p- no, the two identical Grizabellas he now owns. Someone take them, please.]
[OOC: Link to the items Varian has available!]

Johanna, one year old and full of laughter and light, would love it to pieces. That alone makes him want to hold onto it, at least for as long as she's frozen that age, in his mind.]
What kind of parts are you looking for? I found something in the machine, some kind of... I don't know what it is. Let me get it for you.

The lizard, of course, will remain in a little glass beside her. It's not her type of pet, but everyone else in her dorm seems to have one. It's also not the only object she's keeping. A photo of several girls -- Maya included, is tucked off the side. She glances toward it with a fond smile every now and again. There's also a tablet but... Maya hasn't done much with that.
Yet.
Later, she'll tuck herself away in the computer lab. She's fairly certain it's one of her companions. It's locked, but... Maya's almost certain she's seen Claudine type the code in before. It takes a little bit of guesswork but eventually she finds the home screen.
After taking a moment to regard her old photo, she begins sifting through the apps until she finds Claudine's photo gallery. She has to have pictures of their friends, right?
Or. One... friend? Maya finds herself staring at a number of pictures of herself. Performance photos. Practice photos. They're all pictures of her.]

"I'm okay, mom. I'm okay."
The dream—the memories— that's changed some things. Peregrine keeps going over it in her mind, and she's not...okay, so to speak, but the way she holds herself is less...closed off? It's weird. This is weird.
The point is, yesterday she spent most of her time processing that, and doing a cursory look over the place. Today, she's going to really dig in and explore. She spends some time in the Auto Shop, not really looking at the car or anything, but instead trying to jerryrig a way to get that garage door open! ...It does not work. But feel free to find her with a crowbar, or staring very intently at that hydraulic car lift! ]
...We could always...maybe if that lift in the scene shop...
[ Later, before the meeting, she's got a lot of coins, so. Vending machine it is. Maybe that'll give her something she can use to get that garage door open!
It does not. It gives her a lot of things!! But none of them seem useful in the way she wants. She gets a particularly startling surprise when a whole deer comes flying at her— no. No wait, that's a fake deer. Like you'd use in a play. Peregrine lets out a shaky laugh, because she was totally not scared, and pushes it over. ]
Fake deer. Stupid fake deer. What's...
[ She'll spend a little time there, gathering up just all of this, separating them into food, clothes, etc. before she starts moving it all back into her room. Her trunk's getting kind of full... Maybe she should start actually getting rid of some of this stuff. ]

But on Monday morning, he decides to try out the vending machine that everyone else has been getting into. He gets a lot of items from the vending machine. He does his best to sort them as he goes, with general piles of "food," "not food," and a special "to be destroyed" category for the "Death Note" - why does the vending machine keep spitting those out? Ugh.
He's a bit disappointed with what he's gotten so far (well, except for the meat pie - it was refreshing to have a taste of home. Almost reminded him of his landlady's cooking), truth be told. Until he puts in one last coin, and the vending machine rattles mysteriously again, and deposits a small, metal photograph.
Anyone coming into the Cafeteria will find Benjamin sitting at one of the tables might catch him with a disgustingly saccharine smile on his face, staring at the little photograph in his hands.]

MEETING
Once everyone's gathered, he'll stand up so he can speak and get this meeting started]
Thank you all for coming. To say that the past few days have been exceptionally trying would be an understatement. What happened to Mumble was a terrible, tragic accident, but I believe almost all of us are in agreement when I say that what happened to Madame Elisabeth was undeserved, especially the horrible spectacle that the entire process was made out to be. [he takes a breath, and lets it out]
With all the events of last week in mind, it is starkly clear to me, as I’m sure it is to many of you, that our situation is even more dire than it seemed. Based on the items we received last Tuesday, it is clear that the Wizard will stoop as low as needed in order to produce the results he desires. Madame Eurydice suggested to me at one point the conservation of our resources, especially food, would be a boon. Admittedly, at the time it was not something I had considered before. Now, I feel it is something that should be a high priority. However, I fully admit to knowing nothing about the process and what might be required. Therefore, I would ask that the people who are more knowledgeable of the ins and outs of food and supply storage and distribution take charge of such a venture, and those that would wish to volunteer to help avail themselves to that person or peoples.
The next item I would like to discuss is that of not only finding a way out, but also the exploration of every nook and cranny of our prison. Again, this is not an area that I am personally knowledgeable in, however I’m aware of several people have been working on such a venture in the time that we’ve been here; I would ask that they share what information they already know, as well as take on any volunteers who would be interested in helping with such, perhaps breaking volunteers into teams if necessary. To this end, I would also suggest another meeting perhaps later in the week to discuss what has been discovered.
Finally, if there’s any new information that has come to light, I would ask that it be shared with everyone else, so that we are all on the same page.
Thank you very much for your attention. Now, let us begin:

Monday morning in Rodgers Dorm isn't pierced with a scream, exactly, but if any of the early early birds are still lingering as others begin to awaken, they'll see Elsa startle awake with a choked gasp, one hand clutching the front of her shirt so tightly it's almost as if she's about to tear through the fabric. The hand flattens out, like she's trying to feel her chest, her heart, before she takes another deep, shaking breath. She looks down at her hands - still unmarked, but she doesn't look.... happy. It's like there's a shadow cast across her face, and she stares at her hands for a good long time before she even attempts to get out of bed.
Later, she'll make a stop by the vending machine. While most of the things she receives are the typical junk inside, something she pulls out seems to shake her, in a good way; a long maroon shawl, which she immediately wraps around her shoulders. She presses a bit of the draping fabric against her face, breathing deep like she's trying to inhale some familiar scent, and just... stands there for a while. It's clear that this item has a lot of meaning to her.
For the rest of the day, Elsa doesn't take the shawl off. Which is fine, because she doesn't really putter around much. She'll stay curled up in the library, thumbing through a few books but not really reading them.]

Most of his morning's spent in the nurse's office, oddly enough! Things being what they are, he's got no practical experience with first aid. Plenty of what's in here is straightforward enough; even he can't mess up applying a band-aid. But the other stuff? He'll be looking through cabinets and inspecting stuff for a little while]
Do you know what these are for? [It's an epi-pen!] And what's with that?
[He's...he's talking about the mannequin.
Later, he goes to the cafeteria to use the vending machine. Most of what he gets isn't terribly interesting. There's a couple extra harmonicas, and rather a lot of alcohol - he opens up the flask with the zig-zags to sniff the contents, then grimaces and closes it up again - but then there's a tape recorder! It's fancier and a bit more advanced than his mental picture of one, but still pretty recognizably a tape recorder.
Curious to listen, he goes over to sit at the table and flips it on. A gravelly voice comes out - basic conversation at first, like an interview, but then it starts to go places:]
Life is disappointment. It affects you because you have the opposite expectation. You expect everything should work out in your best interest. You're a good person, you deserve it. But nature doesn't care about your expectations...
[The Balladeer's brow is furrowed, elbows resting on the table. He doesn't move to turn it off.
After the meeting, he seems pretty withdrawn. He wasn't lying, when he said he'd rather know; it's better to just face the truth. But that doesn't mean the confirmation of his own death hasn't shaken him a little. The stuff about Hester, too, and about his show. He wants to believe things went well, that nothing as terrible as last week happened under his watch. As far as he remembers now, that's what happened! But is that just...an unreasonable expectation?
He doesn't want to think about this. He can't do anything about it, so...he goes to the library and sits down to watch a movie. The first thing he can find, really. He'll be here for the next two hours or so, just...taking all of that in.]
