Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

[The Balladeer can see that something is happening here, but he's got no idea what.]

Maya got it, actually...?

[... Right, perhaps she should have been a bit more specific.]

No, the- that strap. Where did you get that before here?

Oh...oh, I don't know.

[He turns to peer at the strap where it rests over his shoulder. The pattern's pretty and colorful, so he'd liked it, but he hadn't thought it might be all that significant.]

The last time I saw it, I had an old leather one. It was pretty beat up, so I thought - makes sense that I got a new one at some point. Why do you ask?

Because I know that design.

[This is... Elsa's not sure if she should be worried or not. Does the Balladeer have a connection to Arendelle that he's not being honest about? Does the Wizard, and he's just taunting them?]

It's popular among Arendellians. Usually on straps like this, or suspenders or other such things.

Oh...really?

[He turns to look at it again with new eyes, brow furrowed. Arendelle...he doesn't really know anything about it, but the mention does dredge up something from the tangle of his dream-memories.]

I think...someone from my new show was from there? I only just remembered that it happened at all, so I don't know if I ever really talked to her...Anna? She had red hair?

Elsa's demeanor just. Instantly changes. She looks startled, worried... confused?]

Anna is my sister! How... how is she from your show? [Ah, hold on, how to word this without offending him....] She's not... fictional.

[She still doesn't get the Balladeer's whole situation. This is just making things more confusing...]

She never mentioned anyone like you before...

Well...

[The Balladeer doesn't seem offended at all. He's just...not too sure how to approach this?]

I mean, you and I are both here now? Though, if it's all already happened, then I don't know why...

[Part of him would like to believe that it is the same Anna. It would mean that his show went well, or at least well enough that some people made it back home. But if that had happened, surely she would have said something? The fact that she hasn't...]

Maybe she did and you don't remember it? Or it could just be a different production - a different world, I mean. But she was there - and so was that creepy guy she knows. I remember him, I was worried about him.

[There are so many questions, but... okay Elsa's confused on that last bit.]

Creepy guy? Kristoff is far from creepy. I know he may seem a little strange at first glance, but he's a wonderful man.

[... Look Elsa has no reason to assume he means anyone other than Kristoff. Sure, her sister has plenty of friends outside of the castle now, but he's still her closest friend.]

What? No, his name was Hans. I don't remember all of the details, but he'd definitely done something.

[He's sure he knew everyone's stories, at the time. Maybe that's just a little much to remember, all at once?]

[... Oh, Hans certainly must've done something, because Elsa's face just falls into the most annoyed expression seen on her yet. It's.... no, it's not annoyance - it's anger.]

Hans? What was he doing around Anna?

He was in the show, too? I...thought she liked him, so I wanted to keep an eye on that...

[They'd been hanging around together, at least. But the Balladeer knows for sure that he'd been suspicious of Hans.]

[MMMMMmmmmmm...]

I doubt she'd like him. The last time we saw him, she punched him clear off a boat, after he left her to die.

[Yeah, fuck Hans. She's not going to be subtle with that.]

I thought they were engaged?

They were. When she thought he was some prince charming happy to sweep her off her feet.

[This is. The most blunt and angry Elsa has ever been in their time here so far.]

But he was only using her [oh geez did the temperature just drop a few degrees?] so that he could be next in line for the throne of Arendelle. He planned to have the two of us killed so that he can inherit the throne left to Anna after my death.

[Look, she... she feels a certain way about what he did to her. But what he did to Anna is what really makes her blood burn in a way nothing ever has before.]

...well, we know our memories aren't quite right...

[Was that happening before? Yes...yes, it sort of sounds like it must have been. The only other option is that she's simply from a different time, which could be the case. But then, the Balladeer probably wouldn't have known to watch out for Hans then.]

[Elsa just sort of. Bristles at that. Not at him exactly, but the idea that someone might have tampered with Anna's memory. It's already happened once, and she hates that she caused it in the first place. For it to happen again.... ugh.]

Even if she doesn't remember, he's no less sinister. What he did was because of his own selfish greed, not because something happened to him while he was visiting us.

Noooo, I know. I already knew he was bad news.

[The Balladeer seems slightly perturbed; he doesn't feel like he said anything remotely implying that?]

But whatever happened, I think...I'm not sure. When that was.

[She sees the way the Balladeer is starting to side-eye her and just. Instantly looks ashamed. Taking a deep breath, Elsa shakes her head.]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to... keep going like that. But someone hurting my little sister like that? It makes me angry.

[She doesn't get angry often. It's harder to reign in, like her other emotions.]

I'm just... worried about something happening to her again.

No...no, I'm sorry.

[She's got every right to be worried. Maybe he doesn't really feel like he can do much about it right now, but that's more important.]

But I'm going to make sure everyone there's safe. Or...I was. [Boy, this memory thing makes tenses weird!] I promise, that was my plan.

I have no reason to doubt you on that.

[Despite her outburst moments before, Elsa's smile is true and genuine at that.]

However I may feel about him, that doesn't extend to you. You've been nothing but a good man since we arrived here.

...oh. Thank you.

[He's visibly touched.]

[Elsa's not the best at reading people, unless it's tells that she herself exhibit in certain moments of duress, so while she knows he's genuine with his thanks, she's not sure if there's... a reason he's reacting that way?]

Is it... surprising that I say that?
