week 4
[Another week, and two more dead. King Richard and Red are both gone, and once again, it was through nothing more than an accident in the heat of the moment. Maybe if you all stay calm and collected, nothing bad will happen again?
Well, maybe not.
When you wake on Sunday, you'll find that you've recovered another one of those memories - or had another dream, if you still wanna be in denial about it. The grounds remain as they are, but this time, the door blocking the stairwell has been unsealed. You can now venture up to the second floor! This is the second time that's happened; it's almost as if you get more space every time someone dies. Or maybe the whole place just seems quieter.]

(( Welcome to Week 4! Please remember to submit your AC and your memory regains, as well as your coins! You can also still contact the Phantom. ))

After that, he takes his own explorations. He lingers in the library for a good while before taking a book to the coffee shop, whereupon it's temporarily left on a table while he tries to create something. He...somehow manages to make something that he can drink with only so much mess, but he's planning on cleaning up, promise.
Near the end of the day, he's back in the laundry room. Just watching his clothes go through the cycle, a pensive expression on his face]

WARNING. WARNING. WARNING.
................... He should probably apologize to Riley about the setting a fire joke he made like two weeks ago. Rich definitely set a fire and burned down Jake's house. RIP.
That can wait, though, because a) computers and b) OH MY GOD LAST WEEK WAS 100% WORTH IT HE IS NEVER LEAVING THIS ROOM AGAIN. If you manage to catch him before he finds the game system, he's meticulously checking the computers to see if any of them are actually connected to the wifi. He will figure out this wifi puzzle. Once he finds the game system, though, he's just gonna. Well. Okay, Sonic '06 is not ideal but if he can't get on tumblr then he'll take this instead. He's fine with this.
Jeremy lives here now. This is just where he lives. He's going back to his disgusting gamer boy habits and you can't stop him.]

He's almost grimly amused, how much things had changed.
When he finally drags himself from his room and cleans himself up, he makes his way outside to the graveyard. He's gathered enough flowers by now to have a substantial offering for Red's headstone.
Just the thought is simply wild--
He shakes the song from his head and makes for the kitchen. He's limited in how much he knows how to make, and with biscuits having just been passed around, he settles on pasta. Gluten-free, of course. This is left on the stove, still warm for anyone that needs it.
If you stumble in soon enough, you might find a pair of eyes locked on you, though.]
Cookies. Do you know how to make them.
[With his morning "chores" done, Mephisto finally allows himself to explore. Or... tries to. He manages to peek his head into the movie room, and then the computer room and.....
Promptly backs right out.]

Not an unsurprising event, really, but she had been hoping she could just avoid everyone, because she had so much to do and so much to worry about and it's harder, it's always harder, when she sees one of those worries face to face.
Jeremy tries to help her with the props that tumbled out of her hands. She would push him back, but that would mean spending more time lingering on this situation, so she just packs up the beakers in the crate and starts moving again, starts doing what she can again-
"Can we talk about-?" Jeremy tries to ask, but Christine cuts him off immediately, sounding too cruel to her own ears.
"I'm sorry, Jeremy, I can't do this." When he tries to protest, she spins around, and she realizes that cruelty was a flimsy patch, ripped off now and doing nothing to stop the emotions tumbling out. "Rich is in the hospital! Jake broke both his legs trying to jump out a window! And we were laughing at Rich... We could have helped him. And Jake wouldn't have been alone at the end of the night if it wasn't for me."
"You can't feel bad about that!" Jeremy protests, and Christine almost laughs, because of course she can.
"Well, I do! I look around, and everyone's hurting! And the people who don't show it are just better at hiding it! I wish there was something real that I could do to make things better, but I don't know how... so I guess I'll just do theatre."
When Christine opens her eyes, she's found herself in the coffee shop, adding milk to a cup of tea, except she's added far too much, the glass overflowing, pale brown liquid pooling over the counter. She gasps and sets the milk jug down immediately, scrambling for towels to clean up the mess.
After that whole... experience, she isn't exactly enthused about exploring the new areas, until she actually sees what's there. The movie theatre is her absolute favourite, when she sees the selection, though she isn't the most... considerate theatre patron, as she can often be found balancing on the tops of the chairs, screaming at the screen.]
Pull yourself together, Hathaway! Sobbing is going to gum up your vocals! This is how you sing it!
[She also does her part investigating, like a good little detective should. In the computer room, she might accidentally bump someone's knees as she crawls under the desks there.]
Sorry! Sorry, just looking around!
[And near the end of the day, she moves to the cemetary once again. She has a roll of tape and her binder, and she goes between each grave, taping the stars from last week to the monuments memorializing Sigyn and Jonny.
Hopefully, she can find Richard's stone. And Red's too. She has a lot to share with her.]

“Oh, I’m fine! I’m a phoenix, Cairo. Maybe you should try thinking like that too.”
Riley actually doesn’t leave her room for a very long time. You can try checking in on her but she probably won’t open the door. There’s definitely signs of life in there, though! Like, a loud shuffling or soft thud. It’s fine.
It’s well into the afternoon when she finally emerges, she’s groggy and her usual ponytail’s messy. She doesn’t really want to...do anything, but eventually she sees the stairs. What Riley wants to do is explore the whole floor. What she does do is find the fitness room and immediately launch into a proper workout. Running on the treadmill, various lifts with training weights, just so much. She’ll be here until someone can convince her to, perhaps, chill the fuck out. ]

Well that's... that's a lot to think about, isn't it? The question of the dress she arrived in has been answered! At the expense of... well, several more questions. Who's the Repo Man? Why did she care so much about beating him - why did Rotti - why was she watching a video of Rotti Largo talking to her?
Shilo's even quieter and more lost in thought than usual through the day as she takes some time to explore the new area - settling in particular in the library for a while to read... is that just a stack of books about insects? Guess that's how she lives now!
At some point she ends up in the movie room, watching... some kind of musical? About hell? Wherein hell is a carnival? But she gets so confused she panics and turns it off when these characters show up. ]
What the...!?
[ NO MORE IDENTITY-STEALING FILM ROOM, NOPE! She's gonna go... keep wandering, she guesses. There's a lot of new rooms to look at, after all.
Later on at night, though (actual night, not... Outdoor Night), she heads out to the graveyard, no longer able to distract herself from... whatever the hell her memory was. She takes her necklace off and holds it in one hand, looking at the image on it. ]
Hey mom, dead mom
I need a little help here
It's just that nothing's adding up here
And dead mom, I gotta ask -
What happened with dad and Rotti
'Cause my mem'ry's pretty spotty
What about you, dead mom?
Dead mom...

Cuz I'm the Queen of the castle...
[Though there are new places to be explored, she starts her morning off with a visit to their good friend the horse, with an apple. She stays there for a while-- patting the horse, giving it its deserving treats, and even singing her song.]
Got gold chains
Symbolic of my faith to the higher power
In the fast lane
My horses can trot up to twelve miles an hour
Let me explain
I'm a wiener schnitzel, not an English flower
No one tells me I need a rich man
Doin' my thing in my palace in Richmond
[The horse isn't a very good audience, though, so after getting much more love and attention, Anne heads back indoors. One fresh shower and a costume change later (she's a Queen again, she's not going to be smelling like stables) and she's exploring the upstairs area. She's fidgety though, and doesn't stay in one place for long. In the coffee shop she's munching on pastries and flipping through cabinets, in the library she's pulling books off the shelf and flipping through them, then putting them back on the shelf as none of them hold her interest. Finally, she makes her way to the chapel, where she makes her way to the front of the pews, before dramatically dropping to her knees, lowering her head and clasping her hands in prayer. She stays there for hours.
BUT THAT'S DEPRESSING AND NOT ANNE'S STYLE AT ALL. So after the hours of prayer, she's back up again, which is when she discovers the roller rink. She can be found there almost all afternoon, zooming around on roller skates, laughing, and singing to herself.]
Too, too bad I don't agree~~
So I'm gonna hang it up for everyone to see
And you can't stop, you can't stop me 'cause
I'm the queen of the castle
Get down, you dirty rascal

[And he's down. He's fine, he's already getting up. He's fine, everything is fine.]
[As the day goes on, people will might find Steven putting out small potted flowers that might be recognizable from the garden in various spots around the opera house, usually by windows so they can get. Starlight, apparently.]
Hey! I think these guys are finally ready to be out where everyone can see them, they're not just going to wither and die overnight. I figured this place could use a little decoration, right? Don't worry, I checked really thoroughly to make sure these were all non-poisonous before I brought them in.
[He seems. Chipper, at least?]
[Later on he's in the library- uh. Very studiously taking one book off the shelf after another, replacing them before moving on. Okay?]
[And, at some point, he's tracking down the only other Gem here.]

MONDAY

It's important that he does it.
Once everything is there, he puts on his space sunglasses (for safety), puts on his opera gloves, and slowly unwraps the package, revealing an ornate knife...probably made out of stone? It feels like it should be used in some sort of sinister ritual.
He takes his hammer, steps away, and lifts it to strike it.
That afternoon, he has brought Tad Cooper to the library and took out a few books on biology. He's mostly going through the part about lizards and reptiles in general, but a problem arises: Angus isn't a scientist. Most of this stuff is either really basic or goes above his head.
He takes off his sunglasses and rubs his tired eyes. It's obvious he hadn't been sleeping well that night.
Tad Cooper, meanwhile, is just vibing in his new black sewn vest.]

The library is a nice place. She's not...really a huge bookworm, but she does look through it a bit. She usually has a taste for murder-mysteries, but after picking one out, she sets it back quickly. When she finds the computer room, it reminds her of something... After a brief return to her room, she settles in there. There’s a flash drive she got, weeks ago. And it’s about time to see what’s on there.
In the afternoon, she's going to deal with the fact that she has a bunch of coins. With a preface, to whoever works the damn merch booth- ] No giant rocks this time. No trombones, no tubas, none of that. I am not in the mood.
[ And, hey! Maybe they listened! Mostly? There's a weird note- not important. Riley shoves the things she got to the side of the lobby, to deal with later. It's with trepidation and annoyance that she trudges out to the stable.
It's with shock and surprise that she finds a giant pink lion and stifles a yelp. ]
What in the world is that doing here?!
[ Fun! Fun times.
After all that, she'll. Well, she has to go back to the lobby and sort out her other things. Sniffs the weird vial, ew, it smells like Mountain Dew. Sets down another old radio. At least most of this stuff she can just kind of set aside...
In the evening, Riley ends the day in the movie theater. She looks for something to put on, but her eyes slide over each title, unfocused. ]

Is she drawing, in a library book?!
When that's done, she makes a trip to the computer room, where she can be found with a word processor open, her brow furrowed as she types with two pointer fingers, slowly typing out--]

Mephisto opts to keep busy. He returns to the courtyard where he and Stephen had sat only a short while ago, knocking over pieces and putting them away. He was losing anyway, so he's fine with the loss of progress.
After that, he heads to the garden, deciding that he needs... something to help him wind down. He isn't there long, studying flowers as hard as he can before ultimately coming away with a few red buds. He carries these up to the library and... searches for a few books while still clutching the flowers in his hand.
... Whatever he's looking for, he inevitably comes up empty, and after casting the flowers aside, settles down with a book on history. There's a lot to catch up on, dry as it all seems to be.
Eventually he returns to his room, book in hand. Though he's fond of his privacy, he leaves the door open in the event that anyone... just needs somewhere to be. He's still worried about his new found charges, and he's not... coping well with that.
Just... don't focus on the fact that he's sitting with his shirt off at the moment. He's sprawled out on the bed, hand braced against the pages as he re-reads the same paragraph again and again. It's hard enough to focus, let alone with something as lengthy as all this.]

But when Jeremy does wake up, and that discussion is had, as much as Jeremy can handle in his state, Christine at least stretches her legs for a minute. She has to retrieve all those items she had abandoned in the lobby first, and maybe tidy up a few things in the kitchen (since her Mountain Dew experiments aren't necessary anymore.
After that, though, she's primarily delegated herself to her room, a sign hastily written up and pinned to her door, just above a pile of items:
All items outside are free
More items inside, if you're looking for something. I can probably part with it.
Please knock
Christine Canigula ღ ღ ღ
[The door is still partly open, though, just enough for passers by to see Christine pretty much face down on her bed, wolf cloak pulled over her head. Oh boy. Dare you enter the den of teenage angst?]

TUESDAY
MOTIVE: GIVE ME THE STRENGTH TO TRY
Regardless, his voice is audible wherever you are, but those who are lucky or who go searching will find that he is standing in the cemetery. To start with, he’s simply standing by the mausoleums, the collar of his black overcoat turned up, facing away from the gates. If he hears anyone approaching he will quickly approach the Daae tomb and vanish - inside it? Behind it? He's no longer visible, anyway.]
They were once a true companion
They were all that mattered
They were a friend, a child, a mother
Then your world was shattered
Wishing they were somehow here again
Wishing they were somehow near
How much are you willing to do
If you could bring them here
You could finally hear their voice again
You know what you have to do
A life for a life - that is the price
To return them to you
[The Phantom becomes visible again, as he rises up onto the roof of the Daae tomb. He perches easily, one foot on the peak of the roof and one on the slope. But, for the moment, he seems to be looking up at the sky rather than at you.]
Carved headstones and offered bouquets
Mem’ries that were treasured
All those dead, like any others
They would be remembered…
[But then he seems to snap back to what he’s doing, and glares down at all of you. It’s a little hard to see behind his mask, but you can just sort of feel it.]
Kill someone this week, and a dead person of your choosing shall be revived in their place.
It’s all the same, nothing has changed
Why can’t we end this game?
[He turns in a dramatic swirl of cape, and leaps from the roof to the top of the wall surrounding the cemetery, and then jumps from there and disappears.]

But after that? After that he heads for the computer room, picking a far corner terminal to stay out of sight. He appears to be looking over some blueprints, thanks to the thumbdrive he got from Riley.
In the evening, after a couple visits to Certain Children, he's back in his room - door closed. Sorting through too many trombones and the rest of the items he's received, figuring out what to put up for grabs.]

She’s found herself in the Cafe today, experimenting with some of the drinks and seeing what she can make, using a bunch of syrups to experiment with flavours. Intermittently she sips away on one successful creation: banana hot chocolate with whipped cream and drizzle.
Later on she’s having dinner by herself in the garden, seated under the big oak tree. She’s brought her food out here to eat in a little picnic as well as a book to read from the library. Not much, just a history of Shakespeare and his writing style. ]

That is until around the mid-afternoon. Whenever you are, whoever you're with, one of you has lost control of your legs. You're fully aware of what's happening and you have full use of the rest of your body but your legs are moving on their own. Where are they taking you?
Better grab a friend and find out!]

...it's not slacking off, but it feels like it. Like there's so much to do, and if he waits too long, something awful is going to happen.
Later on, he'll be found outside, specifically walking the cemetery and gardens. While he lingers near Red and Sigyn's headstones for a while, he moves away from them before too long...only to return with fresh flowers, which he leaves there before moving on from his contemplation.
Near the end of the day, he's in the cafe, and...more or less has blocked most of it off from anyone trying to get in. There's even a sign on the door- DO NOT ENTER. Stephen's set up with a good few books from the library to use as references, to say nothing of a number of pieces of makeshift safety gear.
It's time to learn chemistry, baby.]

Luckily, most of it seems harmless. He even moves to pick it up, thinking nothing of the goods he's received. That's about when eight legs of... fur? Glowing fur? Wrap around him.
You'll probably walk in on him waving his arm about frantically.]
Let go, you wretched thing.
[Later in the day, Mephisto and his ball of fluff can be found in the library. Attempting to detach it has been an impossible task, so now he's resigned himself to having a permanent attachment to his arm. He's at least managed to convince the thing to slide further up, so he has a little more range of motion.
There's a pile of history books on the table beside him. He's already about halfway through this one.
And then, of course, there's the chapel. He's been avoiding it since the second floor opened up to them. He can tell just from the doorway what it is, and he's been determined to avoid it. The problem is that he can't trust the Phantom not to have something squirreled away somewhere, and the chapel is probably the best place to do it.
So... Mephisto sits there, glowering through the doors as he hesitates by the threshold.]

COOKIES FOR SALE
COST: ONE TROMBONE
DAMN GOOD FLAVOR
[ The cookies do not have "damn good flavor," however. They're incredibly dry, probably because they were made by a demon and a teenage girl who acts like a demon. But the joke is kind of funny! ]
Hey! You there! Want a cookie?
[ Here, cookies have usually been symbols of love. Unfortunately, Santana is more interested in using them as a get-rich-quick scheme. She'll be very disappointed if you don't buy one. ]
