Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

[After the performance and during the party, Salieri can be found a couple different places.

First, he'll be up by the mead barrel, passing out cups to whomever would like some. It is a 36 gallon barrel that's almost full, so fortunately there's plenty for everyone. After that, he'll leave the barrel for people to try on their own time, and retire to a seat somewhere in the corner with a bottle of red wine labeled "Chateau Leroux" and a glass, which he will then proceed to sit back and sip idly from, observing the party. As the hour starts to get late and the evening draws to a close, should any of the adults have an interest, Salieri will happily hand out a little absinthe from a small green bottle to those who would like something stronger. If you're not an adult, you certainly can try and convince him to give you a shot, if you'd like. Best of luck!]

[Farrah's in a pretty upbeat mood. The play didn't fail catastrophically like she had worried that it would. No one got a concussion or went viral for shoving a teammate off stage or anything like that. So she's waltzing around the after-party, with her own green bottle, though this one's labeled 'Sprite'.]

Wow! We really did it!

We certainly did.

A fine performance, assistant director. [he'll toast to her a bit with a glass of wine.]

I do have to say, assistant-directoring did interfere with my performance in the audience. Maybe next time, I should stick to just one.

I can't properly cheers with this. [....She's already scheming.]

There is that. You're free to choose whichever option, of course. You could even alternate between them.

Well, if you need something, there is plenty of mead left. [he gestures with his glass in the direction of the mead barrel]

Doesn't being Assistant Director for the first time, without anyone dying, deserve at least a little wine? [She'll start with asking for that, at least.]

[...oh. That's the game, is it? Salieri sits back in his chair, tilting his head a bit to study her, eyes narrowing slightly...and he'll let that silence linger just a touch too long, just to tease her a bit.

Just at the last uncomfortable moment, he makes a considering sound, shrugging a little with a shoulder, mouth curling into a smirl] A little wine, perhaps. Get a glass, and I'll share.

[Mumble finds Salieri at the mead barrel, and has no idea what is in all these cups but it certainly smells...interesting. He eyes it up with some curiosity before turning back to the host.]

Bravo, Maestro! [He laughs a little, joyously of course, as he claps.] That was...incredible!

[Salieri seems rather pleased when Mumble comes up, obviously warmed by the praise, smiling a little]

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Monsieur Mumble. [he did notice that eyeing of the cups though]

Ah, did you want to try some honey mead?

Yes, please. Though I'm not really sure what it is.

[He'll gladly take a cup!]

You guys really put a lot of effort into it - the play, I mean. It must've been real great to be a part of.

It's a common drink in my time, though this is one is specifically called short mead. It's made from apples, honey, water and herbs, and then fermented for a short time.

[Salieri's expression softens a bit, then] It was. It was very nice to be able to experience that with everyone involved.

[he tilts his head a bit] You're more than welcome to join in the next one, if you'd like?

[Apples, honey, water, and herbs...he only knows one of those things. Well, that's a start. It smells delicious, all the same.]

Oh - no, I-I couldn't. I don't really have any experience in all of that stuff.

[Plus, he might get excited and join in the singing. And no-one wants that.]

[So while Salieri is being his brooding self -- okay, fine, OBSERVING, he's not all that broody right now despite appearances -- Discord will just casually take a seat next to him.

Because of course he does.]

You know, I was very tempted to dump paint all over the performance, but I've been getting a little tired of paint.

Lucky you.

[GOSH rude!! he's not brooding this time. In fact, he is quite relaxed!

He doesn't even stiffen when Discord shows up...in fact, he smirks slightly]

Ah, there you are. I was wondering when you were going to show your face.

[he takes a sip of his wine, idly]

But yes, how fortunate for me that you've lost an interest in paint, indeed. [with that dry humor]

[disharmonizes]

At this point, throwing paint around is about as interesting as... well. Watching paint dry.

[Appropriately, there's splotches of dry paint on his uniform.]

I suppose as far as entertainment goes, this hasn't been the worst I've been forced to watch.

[Salieri is relaxed enough that he outright chuckles at that]

Well, Monsieur Discooooorde--[that smirk curls a little wider as he drawls out his name]--coming from you, I'll take that as high praise.

[wow he is in a great mood huh]

[...Okay, this energy is new.]

It's as close to a compliment as you'll ever get from me, anyway.

Now, not that I just came here to state the obvious, but someone's in a good mood.

[Yup, she's going to have a mead! She's way more than old enough to, apparently.]

To a wonderful performance, monsieur! It was beautiful!

[At that, Salieri does practically beam, offering her a wide smile] Thank you, Madame Elisabeth! And a toast to you as well, and your beautiful playing. [he holds his cup of mead out]

[ Rina's unsure about the mead but she feels the need to come up and see Salieri at least once after watching all that. ]

Salieri-san! That was really good!

[well, he can't say that he isn't quite flattered by all the praise, and Rina's is no exception] 

Mademoiselle Rina. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

[ She nods enthusiastically. ]

I can see why you get commissioned by Emperors! I was really moved by it.

Thank you very much. It pleases me to know that the piece was able to not only be enjoyable but furthermore moving, as well. That is all any compers can ask for, after all.

[ She nods again and then looks down, quietly in thought. ]

I hope... one day I could also...

[ But then she stops herself from saying more, trailing off without finish the thought. ]
