Week Three
[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.
This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.
Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]
Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday
(( Be sure to submit your memory regains and your AC for this week! Hester's office hours and the merch booth also remain available! ))

Computer Lab
Needless to say, when he comes across the computer lab...he stops in the doorway, staring in at the computers on the desks with eyes wide and owlish. He sees Rina not far in sitting at one of the computers, but something seems...different than what Spongebob was watching. That was a sort of moving picture box, but Rina seems to be interacting with these herself?
Varian makes his way closer, trying to get a better look.]
Are these..."Tee-vees"? Why are there so many of them?
no subject
No, these are computers. You can do all sorts of things with them!
no subject
That's...cute...
He'll move to sit down next to her, glad she can't see the absolutely dumb look on his face right now since she probably can't see through the paper.]
You know about them? What can you do, exactly?
no subject
Mm! I know lots about them! I love computers!
[ And then lowers it as little below her nose so she can actually look at the screen. ]
They can do all sorts of things! You can write with them, make art, play games... and if they're connected to the internet you can talk to people all over the world!
no subject
Excited? Energetic? He's not sure what the right word is, all he knows is that this is different. But a good different. It's like something reminded her that she has the capability to come out of her shell a little more.]
The...internet? What's that?
[Also, he's realizing now just how much more she knows about all of this new technology than him. It makes sense- she's from a much later time than he is- but it's still really impressive? You wouldn't know it from the way she acts...]
no subject
It's um... a digital network that everyone is connected through. If you have a computer or phone you can log onto it and do all sorts of stuff...
It might be a bit hard to explain without being able to show it, but it's amazing. You really can talk to people on the other side of the world with it. And you can look up all kinds of information too! When I built my first computer I followed a video guide someone uploaded online. It was really helpful.
1/2
[...Then Rina finishes that part and Varian's question is immediately answered. He was already impressed before, but wow.]
The whole world is connected. That kind of technology is absolutely unprecedented, Rina! Do you know the kinds of things people could do with-

She looks at him over the lowered paper and nods. ]
Y-Yeah. A long time ago, when I was a lot younger... I've built a better one since though.
[ ....fret fret ]
I-It's not as impressive as it might sound though. I didn't make the parts myself or anything; they're designed to be customizable, and you can buy all sorts of different parts to make it as powerful as you want. Lots of people in the Personal Computer hobby build their own...
[ And those people are usually. Adults. Not lonely children.
...... ]
...Is that weird?
no subject
This week, something changed. Something with those papers she's using to express herself has given her a boost of confidence that Varian can't help but feel happy for her over. With how the weekend went...seeing genuine happiness over something like this is rare.
And the smile that grows on Varian's face is equally genuine as he shakes his head no.]
Weird? It's not weird at all! I don't know many people at all who can build their own devices, computers or self-automated machines or...anything like that. Most of the people who do know that stuff are way older than me...so it makes me really happy to hear.
[He scoots his chair a little closer to hers.]
Can you show me some more?
no subject
...
She will not put up the blushy face she will not put up the blushy she will not--
She puts the pages down for the moment so she can focus on the screen. ]
Sure.
[ She returns to the solitaire window. ]
Um... unfortunately these computers are pretty old and out of date, and they're not connected to the internet... probably so we can't call for help. But it does still have games!
...Do they have solitaire in Corona? It's just a single person card game.
no subject
[Time to infiltrate a forum to beg for someone to come rescue them.]
We do, though! [Because card games were invented HELLA early in time and it makes sense they'd have them so I'm going to say yes.] I can play a mean game of poker; my dad taught me how.
no subject
[ She's not even sure what that actually entails.
She turns back to the screen. ]
This doesn't have poker, but you can play solitaire with little images of the cards. It's programmed to know the game rules...
[ She clicks around with the mouse. ]
And when you win it all goes--
[ As she wins all the cards start cascading down and bouncing all over the place in that old school solitaire animation. She puts up one of her face sheets. ]
Whoosh! Heehee.
no subject
[Rina would literally destroy everyone at Poker I'm just saying.
Varian does lean in a little closer though as Rina shows the game off, watching as the cards dart all over the screen. Honestly, he's still having a hard time wrapping his head around technology this advanced, but that doesn't mean he's any less fascinated by it.
He doesn't even realize how hard he's smiling until he feels the way it's making his face sore. He's not sure he's smiled like this in weeks, actually, and he ends up laughing after Rina does.]
Wow! That's really cool, Rina...what other games do you like to play on the computer?
no subject
[ She clicks around, trying to find another game to show off. ]
I didn't have any friends growing up, so I had to learn to play by myself. Video games were good for that.
[ ........ah. ]
no subject
[AH...]
Oh, hey. I didn't have any friends either.
[SAME HAT! Though he says that with a tone that's a lot more amused than it probably should be.]
Guess I can't say that's true now, of course....
no subject
You mean you have friends now?
[ She assumes he means like. Back home. And definitely didn't mean to be rude or anything sdkjghjk ]
no subject
Yeah, I mean...there's Cass and the others, but I've met a lot of people here that I consider my friends, now.
Including you.
no subject
.................... ]
Me?
no subject
I've never met somebody who is interested in all of the same kinds of things that I am. I'd be lying to say we weren't friends!
1/fuck idk man u did this chi
no subject
It's getting a lot redder now. To the point that she ends up hiding it in her hands. ]
OK DONE THAT'S ENOUGH
Th-That... makes me r-really happy...!
I'm... really, really, REALLY happy that we're friends...!!
Are you SURE thats enough-
Oh??? Oh cute???
Varian wasn't expecting such a strong reaction because, well...Rina doesn't exactly HAVE those, does she? She's always quiet and relatively blank-faced most of the time, so to see her blush red and look so surprised like that...even Varian doesn't know what to do.
He starts to stammer out a reply, but he can't quite manage anything in time for her to put up one of those papers to hide her face, quickly shucking a hand through his hair as if that will make him remember how to talk better.]
Oh, I- I'm- glad! I'm...really glad to hear that, Rina. I'm happy we're friends too.
no subject
[ She meekly nods. God girl, change the subject come on-- ]
Um... b-back home for me it was just Ai-san... even in high school I still had a hard time talking to my classmates because of my facial expression...
But everyone is r-really nice here... so if you consider me a friend and they do too th-then...
Rina-chan Board says... "Unbelievably Happy!"
