Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

[ Orpheus thinks about that a moment before shaking his head. No, he's pretty sure he'd literally die. Fighting is not his strong suit, and he doesn't feel comfortable asking someone else to step in if he's not willing to do the same. ]

You're right. [ He doesn't sound happy about it, though. ] I guess you should probably help the president? I don't know much about the other one.

[All things considered, he ought to get in there. As one of the men and seemingly token adults, it's his duty to protect the others.

And besides, if he can't stop Lady Elisabeth from charging in, he can certainly tank the retaliation for her.]

Stay back. Find cover, and maybe something to throw if you must. The more people in the fray, the more likely it is someone will be hurt.

[And then he hefts a 4x4 with a grunt, and swings it low at the back of "Big foot's" knees.]

Anyway, between hitting Bigfoot in the head and the back of the knees simultaneously, I think it's fair to say that you have knocked the cryptid down and are now thrashing him.

Lincoln, meanwhile, seems as fine as a shadowy human-shaped figure can be when Cass moves to pull him away. Touching him feels a little odd, sort of chilly, but he nods to her, sets down the plank he was wielding, and moves as if straightening out his lapels. Seems like he's aware of your presence; maybe you can communicate a little?]

[Benjamin pins the end of the four by four against the shadow's...chest. Area. Leaning as much weight against it as he has to to keep it down.]

[After a moment of struggle, it is clearly defeated - and, as any decent enemy ought, begins to dissipate into wisps of black smoke.

Wow, look how quickly you can get shit done when you don't wait for a dramatic moment!]

[That's weird! Ohhh, that's so weird!! Even as he seems to come with her rather easily, it's as if her fingers are grasping at something only vaguely solid, and definitely not human.

But he's aware of them now, even acknowledging Cassandra's effort. Maybe this was the right choice?]

Uh... Your "presidency".

[She offers a small bow of respect, her hands clasped together.]

[The figure removes its tall hat to give a short bow in return!

It then turns to walk towards the main worktable in here. Follow?]

[Aha! Good etiquette pays off! In your face, Fitzherbert!

Yeah, let's see where this goes.]

[It moves to stand in front of the table, turns, and points...sort of at the side of it? Or maybe the bottom.]

Hm.

[Hm!!! A table. Well, while the others are looking elsewhere, Cassandra can crouch on her knees and take a peek at the side/underside of this nondescript table!]

[On the underside, where you ordinarily wouldn't be able to see, someone has carved a large X deep into the wood. From the strokes, you can tell that some force was applied, and they went over it multiple times.

When Cass looks up again, the shadow will tap the brim of its hat again and start to fade away. That must've been what it meant for you to notice.]

[ Oh, good, so he was just looking to see that the Sasquatch was incapacitated rather than being possessed by a divine fury or anything like that. Orpheus hesitates, a moment, then steps forward. ]

Mister President? Are you... all right? Do you know what's happening here?

[ Might as well ask, right? ]

[It presses a finger to its lips, nods, and points towards the locked door at the top of the scene shop.]

[ Orpheus looks at the President, looks at the door, and looks back at the President one more time before turning to walk over to the large loading dock doors, which he'll try to open by whatever handle or mechanism seems most readily obvious. ]

[Sorry, still locked!

If Orpheus looks back at the shadow, it'll point up towards one of the upper corners of the room. Hey, has anyone noticed the cameras around here yet?]

[ Disappointing! Orpheus looks back to shadow Lincoln questioningly when the door doesn't budge, and finds his attention directed to - something shining in the corner, near the ceiling? ]

Hey! [ He calls out, trying to get everyone else's attention. ] What's that?

[ He'll also point, helpfully. ]

[ At this, Eurydice will look up, but she's also from the early 1900's-ish and has no idea what's going on, help ]

[ Eurydice is way too cautious to get involved, but she will give Sissi a thumbs-up. ]

And I don't know much about either of them. Or, what a "president" is supposed to be. [Sounds important though. Maybe. He fought for slaves, apparently? That's a good thing.]

But if we're helping the president, it means we'll need to deal with Bigfoot.

[She hefts in her arms a folded chair.]

The president is the leader of the United States. Every olympiad we vote for a new one. I think Lincoln was the president something like 100 years ago?

[ Orpheus looks at the chair and gives a very stressed-out shrug. ]

Probably! It looks heavy?

So... basically a king?

[She tests a swing with the chair. That's what it sounds like.]

Kind of? A new president replaces the old one if they get more votes at the end of their term, and Congress and the Senate and the Supreme Court can tell them they're not allowed to do certain things? And I don't think anyone could tell most kings what to do, or replace them easily.
