week 3
[The past weekend has been a difficult one. With Valjean's murder and D-ne's brutal execution the monotony has been broken and it can be said the show is finally and truly underway.
When the performers emerge from their rooms on Monday morning the decor of the opera house has changed. Not drastically but someone was busy during the night with some redecorating. There are cobwebs draped over nearly everything, some of them with tiny plastic spiders stuck in the cotton webbing, and pumpkins of various sizes on the floor and on the tables. Some of the walls have been adorned with cartoon-ish paper skeletons and scarecrows and in the ballroom a poseable plastic skeleton has been posed at the piano looking ready to play. Someone's even set a bowl of candy on the counter of the merch booth.
But that's not all. There's a light coming from the now open doorway in the lobby that had been previously locked for the past two weeks. This new floor is similarly decorated but why not go have a look and explore for yourself?
Despite their losses, the show must go on after all.
OTA
Curiosity compels him to enter, and he finds himself in...another lobby. With doors to boxes, including...Box 5.
The sight of it stirs something in Raoul that he cannot name, and a gentle melody begins to play.]
There was a day before the shore
When the winds did howl
And red was bright
There was a time it was not blood
But a scarf, adrift
And I went into the sea
To fetch it...
And then I met her
I dreamed a night that has gone by
A night of song and dance and splendor
I dreamed her framed by candlelight
Her face aglow, and her touch tender
Both of us young and unafraid
We reminisced our past together
Our eyes drawn together, like moths to flame
A rose, an invitation I did give her
But she claimed she could not come
That Music's Angel she did worry
Would cast his hand down and deny
His favor that she somehow curried
She dreamed her father sent it lo
To bless her with a voice of beauty
I doubt it not, for I do know
A life of song's a Daae's duty
And still I dreamed I came to her
To revive our beloved friendship
But once I was ready, she had fled
With not a word to where she'd gotten
I dreamed a dream I saw Christine
So different from the night I spent here
So different now, but now I see
Perhaps life does follow what
I dreamed

You had a weird dream, too?

I...did. And you, too, had a dream that felt real?

It was similar for me - as if I had never awoken here. I went backstage to see a friend for the first time in many, many years.

[Here, his smile falters.] But she...was hesitant. I told her I would be back in a moment, for I had to retrieve my hat, but when I returned she was nowhere to be found. Sadly, that is all I remember.

You didn't dream about something weird, did you?
no subject
It...was weird in the fact that it felt real. There is a part of me that feels it really did happen. [A pause.] But, to ask...did you dream about something strange, Natalie?
no subject
[she pauses, pushing a hand through her hair.]
This is really weird. Do you know if anyone else...?

[Seymour will clue him in about his later.]

[Hi, Viscount!]

I am starting to think we should be walking into this room and proclaiming aloud to everyone that we have had unusual dreams. Ah, in short, yes - and I assume you did, too.
