Week Five
[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!
Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!
Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.
Get to it, friends! I'm sure everything will be fine this week!]

(( Be sure to submit your memory regain and your AC for this week! As always, Hester's office hours and the merch booth remain available. ))

It's when she looked at the menu earlier this week that she remembered it. Yesterday, actually. The little dates. She wasn't sure if she should do anything about it, but—
No one deserves to be forgotten.
So! Before the meeting, Peregrine can be found in the teacher's lounge. She's got one of her completely treated pieces of deerskin leather, but instead of fitting it into a cloak, like the others, she— she's cutting it up? In very specific ways, and...braiding it. There's a whole bunch of thread, braided into cords sitting out on the table, presumably for practice. She's been at this for awhile. Very quietly, she hums as she works.
And after? She's in the kitchen, with a recipe book from the library. It's open to a page on...apple cakes? ]
Okay. Okay, okay, okay. How do you know what apples are tart...?
[ She's. Really trying!!
At some point at night, before it's time for her to meet Janis and Maya, she stops at the ofrenda in the lobby, carrying a somewhat lopsided apple cake complete with nineteen lit candles. ]
So, um... I don't know if...you can hear me here, or...anything. But— ...I remembered. I wasn't sure what you'd like, and it's my first time baking without...without my mom, so I probably screwed something up, but... Here. I hope— somehow, maybe, you can...see it.
[ She sets down the cake carefully. ]
...And— here. [ Alongside it, she places a medium brown corded leather bracelet. ]
Happy Birthday, Connor. ...Miss you.
Teacher's Lounge
No. She... she can't think like that. She can't just assume there will be one more murder this week. So she pushes those thoughts away, moving closer to examine what's already strewn around the table.]
What are you making?
no subject
It's a bracelet. Just something I've been meaning to do for a bit.
no subject
Is there something special about it?

[God, the murder was bad enough. But so close to his birthday...?]
Do you... know what sorts of things he liked? I could add something to it, if you want.

I could add some charms or beads into the weaving, if you think that would look nice.

ofrenda
I don’t think he’d mind, if you blow out the candles and take his birthday wish.
no subject
Farrah! [ Peregrine turns, and the speed at which she does almost blows out the candles for her. ] Hi, um. I was just...
[ it was pretty obvious what you were doing per ]
no subject
Look at all this character growth. Farrah's not even teasing, or bullying her, or saying anything super rude!]
I still think you should use the wish, though.
no subject
It's...really stupid, I just— I think enough's been taken from him already.
no subject
[or can he]
no subject
No! I mean... I'd much rather just let 'em burn down...but that ruins the cake... [ Peregrine just. Sinks down next to Farrah with a groan. ] I don't do this stuff very often. It's weird.

Kitchen
Ah...Peregrine. Good afternoon.
no subject
[ Peregrine turns with a start. ]
How do you know if an apple is sweet or tart without biting it?
[ yeah good afternoon to you too im sorry ]
no subject
I'm...not entirely certain, other than to carve out a slice of it and try it, possibly?
Why do you ask?
no subject
[ Peregrine, he asked you a question— ]
I'm! I'm trying to bake a cake.
no subject
[....]
Any particular reason for the cake? Or you simply felt the urge?
no subject
[ She's distracted, so the response comes out easier than the other times she's been asked today. ]
no subject
...in that case, would you like some assistance?
no subject
So, it says to mix in— what? ...Oh. Um. ...Yes, actually. I've never...baked by myself.
