Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

[Maya is absolutely in the library for non-Janis related reasons. Mostly she's trying to find a play that's far more lighthearted. She and the Balladeer had promised to put one on, after all.

But alas, the heart wants what its gay little self wants, and she's promptly distracted from her task.]

Hard at work, I see?

[She is absolutely leaning into your space, Janis. Sorry about it.]

[ The thing nobody would guess about Janis to look at her, and that doesn't come across in anything but watching a mean girls slime tutorial because it's so different from the movie, is that once Janis is attached to someone personal space is no longer a concern. Especially when this time she's less flustered.

All of which is to say that she just sort of leans back towards Maya rather than shying away. ]

That's the idea. Been a while since I came at a play totally blind. Usually by the time I'm anywhere near it, Damian has already recited at least half of it.

[Well, since Janis is here, Maya will lay a hand over the shoulder opposite of the one she's peering over.]

If Aijo-san was here instead of me, you would have heard half of it by now.

[She laughs, just a faint, muffled little noise, but a laugh nonetheless.]

[ Janis is 100% fine with that. She smiles. ]

Friend of yours?

A classmate.

[Are they friends? It's complicated.]

Very excitable. She was... good practice for dealing with Spongebob.

[ giraffe voice Girls Can't Be Friends ]

Ah, yeah. I'm familiar with the type. Cady was kind of like that, too.

[Only rivals or girlfriends here.]

You know my pain then. [Spoken horrifically fondly.] But, that's not why we're here, is it?

How have you enjoyed the play so far?

Yup. [ Also said horrifically fondly. ]

It's neat! A little more classical than I'm used to, but I'm getting there.

Yes, I suppose I can see what you mean.

[Maybe she'll distract herself by running her hand down Janis's arm. Heterosexually of course.]

What about your role?

Mostly I watch a lot of... you know, Broadway shows touring in Chicago. Guess this isn't as big overseas, if we have it in my world.

[ Damian has taken her to several musicals. She could like 3.5 wall so many characters with her approximate knowledge. ]

I'm digging her uh. Motivation.

[mayavericks]

What better motivation is there than a beautiful woman?

[Her laugh is low and soft. She moves away from Janis, if only to sit across from her.]

In any case, it's surprising that you haven't heard of it. It was my understanding that the original story was written in English.

[fourbutts]

True.

[ Gets a girl to do this stuff, apparently! ]

Probably a different worlds thing, then. If a play like this was written in English, Damian would have let me know by now.

[mayavericks]

Damian enjoys these types of plays, then? [A laugh.]

If not for the obvious problem of his gender at an all girls school, I would say he would fit in great with us.

In any case, you'll have to introduce me to him.

[fourbutts]

He loves a play with some good gay rep in it. And he knows that's what I look for too, honestly.

[ She nods. ]

Oh, absolutely, you two are going to get along great.

[mayavericks]

You both have excellent taste, then.

[A beat.]

I knew I liked you for a reason.

[fourbutts]

Oh yeah?

[ She leans forward over the table, resting her hand on her chin. ]

I like to think I have pretty good taste, yeah.

[mayavericks]

[Well, Maya's not going to let someone outplay her in Gay chicken. She leans forward as well.]

I should consider myself lucky, then.

[fourbutts]

Looks like we both are.

[ And there's only so much longer she can keep dancing around this. There comes a point when you both know the other is gay, you are reading a part in a gay musical for the other girl, and. Like.

And she leans forward to try to straight up just kiss Maya. ]

[mayavericks]

[When has Maya Tendo ever said no to a challenge? It certainly won't happen here, not with so much on the line.

So no, Maya doesn't hesitate. She meets Janis partway there, perhaps a little hesitant, but only because she's unsure if the other woman will try to back out beforehand.]

[fourbutts]

[ Well, uh. Janis definitely puts more into the kiss than just a quick press of lips, but. This is, in total, her first kiss. She's putting on a confident face about it! Janis pulls back a little. ]

Like we said. Good taste.

[mayavericks]

[Being at an all-girls school means that Maya has had some experience. Not much, considering her devotion to her studies, but... In all things, Maya is impressive.

That doesn't keep her cheeks from flushing brightly as Janis speaks.]

Impeccable, really.

[And not to be outdone, she leans in to initiate her own kiss. Nothing intense, but certainly not fleeting, either.]

[Except not really. If Claire and Flora had made out more, Claire probably wouldn't have lost her damn memory.]
