[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

[ So, here's Elijah Wood, who is apparently not Elijah Wood. Apparently he's a penguin?

Peregrine doesn't know how to really deal with all the weird and confusing people here. She's just looking for something to workout in. ]

It's a boa. You're supposed to wear it around your neck.

Oh. Huh.

[He drapes it around his neck appropriately.]

Well...how do I look?

[ Like Elijah Wood in a pink boa.

Peregrine does not say that. ]

Uhh... It's got flair?

Flair...

[He mulls on it, and gently strokes down the fluff of the boa.]

Yeah, yeah - [An approving nod. It's better than nothing!] It's got flair.

[He jazzes it around a little, then turns to Peregrine. He unspools the boa and offers it out.]

Alright, now let's see it on you.

[ What is with this guy...? Is it the penguin-kin thing? ]

What? No, I don't really... I'm more a practicality kind of girl? I don't really do...flair.

[he’s just trying to have fun!]

It’s practical. [Kinda.] Keeps you warm.

[Is he selling it yet?]

Actually a scarf would provide a lot more protection against the cold. Something like a boa, that’s just for appearances. Though, a scarf could still cause a lot of problems in the cold, if you don’t tie it right. Best to have it under a coat of some kind.

[ …She’s just literally lecturing him here but it’s not like, condescending? She’s just explaining. ]

[He nods in understanding.]

[He doesn’t quite know what to do with this boa now. He puts it back on for lack of better options.]

There’s probably one in here, right? [He starts rifling through all the different costumes on offer. Whilst he does so, a thought comes to him.] Do you mind if I ask you a question?

[ If she was more of an ass, she'd tell him he'd already asked her a question, but instead Peregrine just shrugs. ]

Sure, shoot.

If you're a practicality kind of girl...have you found anything about getting us out of here?

[ Peregrine stiffens. ]

...Not...yet. I'm looking. But... This isn't really...my forte.

[prophetpriestandking]

I know what you mean.

[Sigh.]

I've never even been in anywhere like this, I don't even know where to start. Except by trying to make sense of it all, I guess.

[comeandfindme]

You have to prepare for the unexpected. [ This sounds like a mantra. ] Nothing's gonna turn out how you want it to, or expect it to, so...you have to be ready to adapt.

[ ... ]

I just- didn't think I'd have to adapt to a kidnapping.

[Sound wisdom. Mumble nods along.]

You're not the only one. I heard about alien abductions, but I never - I didn't think it'd happen to me, either.

[He offers something of a smile.]

Guess we've both just gotta adapt, right?

...Yeah. Something like that.

[ After a moment, she asks: ]

Can I ask you a question now?

Sure. Go right ahead.

...Are you really normally a pengiun?

Yeah. [A beat.] I-I mean [He exhales an awkward chuckle, idly waving his arms.] I'm always a penguin.

[ He sure looks like Elijah Wood right now, but. ]

You're not...pulling my leg or anything, you're really...a penguin?

[prophetpriestandking]

Yep. [Nod.] Toe to tip.

[comeandfindme]

Well, right now, you look toe to tip like a human dude, so. I'm just a little skeptical.

Is there any way I can convince you?

[comeandfindme]

[ She pauses for a moment. Is there? ]

...Where do you live? What's it like?

[prophetpriestandking]

In Emperor-land. Somewhere in Antarctica…? We don’t call it that, but Varian mentioned that’s where penguins usually live.

It’s…colder than here. Lot more ice. No walls. You can see the sky there, too.

[He sounds a little forlorn at that. It hasn’t been that long, he thinks, since he looked up and saw the clouds above - but their absence is noticeable to say the least.]

More of a minimalist lifestyle. We don’t have nearly so much - [He gestures across the room.] Stuff.

A-and then there’s everyone. We kind of all live together, and we have the elders who tell us what to do.

[ She hums lightly. She misses the sky, too. She misses the fresh open air. ]

What's it like to swim? [ She's trying to see how eager and earnest he is. To see if this sounds too ridiculous to be real or not. ]
