Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

You're not the only one. I heard about alien abductions, but I never - I didn't think it'd happen to me, either.

[He offers something of a smile.]

[ After a moment, she asks: ]

Can I ask you a question now?

Sure. Go right ahead.

...Are you really normally a pengiun?

Yeah. [A beat.] I-I mean [He exhales an awkward chuckle, idly waving his arms.] I'm always a penguin.

[ He sure looks like Elijah Wood right now, but. ]

You're not...pulling my leg or anything, you're really...a penguin?

[prophetpriestandking]

Yep. [Nod.] Toe to tip.

Well, right now, you look toe to tip like a human dude, so. I'm just a little skeptical.

Is there any way I can convince you?

[ She pauses for a moment. Is there? ]

...Where do you live? What's it like?

[prophetpriestandking]

In Emperor-land. Somewhere in Antarctica…? We don’t call it that, but Varian mentioned that’s where penguins usually live.

It’s…colder than here. Lot more ice. No walls. You can see the sky there, too.

[He sounds a little forlorn at that. It hasn’t been that long, he thinks, since he looked up and saw the clouds above - but their absence is noticeable to say the least.]

More of a minimalist lifestyle. We don’t have nearly so much - [He gestures across the room.] Stuff.

A-and then there’s everyone. We kind of all live together, and we have the elders who tell us what to do.

[comeandfindme]

[ She hums lightly. She misses the sky, too. She misses the fresh open air. ]

What's it like to swim? [ She's trying to see how eager and earnest he is. To see if this sounds too ridiculous to be real or not. ]

[prophetpriestandking]

It’s…[How to describe it?] It’s like walking. But with your whole body - and underwater. [Can’t forget that part.] Because there’s no ground to follow, you can go anywhere, like you’re just…free.

[Much unlike their current situation.]

Don’t humans know how to swim?

[comeandfindme]

We do, I just... If you're a penguin, it'd sound different, right? You're much better swimmers, naturally, than humans.

[prophetpriestandking]

You guys should try growing some flippers.

[Said with a light laugh.]

I guess I don’t really think about it all that much. As you said, it’s just in my nature. [He pauses.] Though, when you’re swimming with someone special…it’s like a whole different thing.

...What's that feel like?

[prophetpriestandking]

It feels like...[He remembers swimming with Gloria, before being interrupted by prey and predators. It feels so long ago, now. There's only one experience he can put on a similar level.]...dancing.

Dancing?

[ Against all odds, she cracks a smile. ]

Okay. Fine. That's too specific. You're a penguin.

[prophetpriestandking]

[Ok, he laughs a little.]

That's what convinced you?

[ She shrugs! ]

If you were trying to pull a fast one on me, you'd probably say something a little less...strange.

[He grins.]

Seems like 'strange' is my thing.
