Week One
[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?
Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.
If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

(( OOC: This will be the last mod post for this week! Feel free to start submitting regains for any threads that aren't with Hester. Remember, song threads mean an extra coin! This is a peace week, so get all that CR while you can! ))

This is. Hm. She needs to test all of this. So a little after breakfast, Elsa squirrels herself away in the corner of the cafeteria, a few glasses of water in front of her. She holds her hands over one, and for a moment she seems laser-focused on it... and then a heartbeat later, a layer of frost solidifies over the cup. The liquid doesn't quite freeze solid, turning more into a slushy mess, and Elsa frowns.]
No, no, this can't be right...
[She pulls her hands close cupping them together as if she was holding something in her palms. She slowly breathes out, wisps of icy light swirling around her hands before coming together in her palms, slowly solidifying and forming the small figure of a snowman.
She keeps going over the motions like this, trying to freeze the water in the glasses and making little shapes out of ice. Despite the beauty of the magic she's tapping into, she's clearly troubled by what she sees....

Oh!! Um. Yes???
[She just looks. So confused and startled at the sudden outburst. Yes, it's her???]
I-I'm sorry, do I know you?
no subject
Is it supposed to be... bigger? Is that the problem?
no subject
In a way? I can't seem to freeze it all at once, but that should be easy...
no subject
[ She looks around, then frowns. ]
... I was going to look for something that stops magic, then I realized that I have no idea what stops magic because I have no actual experience with magic.
no subject
If you're looking for some sort of... device, or rune, I'm not sure if I could help you with that. I only a bit of how my own magic works, not any other kinds.
[Hm, but if she can go off of that....]
Maybe... it's something about the building itself? Cover the source of magic and it can't get out, so if one were to trap all of us in here...
no subject
So that was you doing all of this...you made the ice with magic.
[It's more a statement to be confirmed than a question.]
no subject
[God, Elsa's never going to get over how easy it is to talk about her magic these days. Sure, there was a momentary pause as she spots the boy approaching, but she's not scared anymore. She doesn't always assume the worst will happen. She's... happy with her powers now.
With another swirl of her hands, Elsa summons a small ball of ice, watching it twist and warp until it forms a small model of the Coronan sun emblem. Letting it fall into her palm, she reaches it out, offering it to Varian.]
It's not something I've been very open with until quite recently, so I'm not surprised the rumors haven't reached Corona.
no subject
Yeah, this...this is incredible, Elsa. It's so detailed and everything...
[And it isn't immediately melting at his touch either, likely also due to her magic. He'll look up as he says that, his fingers curiously feeling over the sun's points, cold and wet but still remaining intact even as it's handled.]
I had no idea you could do magic like this. Why didn't you say so before?
no subject
Well... I don't know what it's like in Corona or any of the other kingdoms, but magic is a very rare thing in Arendelle. With something like that... I don't want to scare people.
[Or turn their disgust on herself. Honestly, she hasn't really worried about that in a long time now, but not being upfront about her magic is more just a force of habit, rather than her actually hiding her powers.]
With everything going on, the kidnapping, the insistence that we murder to get out of this place... letting everyone know that there's someone who can do all sorts of things with magic that could be potentially risky [not dangerous, not anymore] seemed like a bad idea.
no subject
[Maybe he should have been less...open about all of the mad sciency things he does, but it's probably fine. Not like he has a chemistry lab here to use or anything. Without that, he can't do much more than tinker.]
I'd say it's definitely a bit more commonplace in Corona, but not by a whole lot. I mean, you don't have people walking around the city being able to use magic or anything, and the only person I know who has any magic in her wasn't exactly intended to be born with it.

You were expecting something more?
no subject
Not necessarily... I was just trying to freeze the glass. It worked, but... it took a lot more effort than such a thing normally would. I don't know what's wrong with me.
no subject
[She shifts so that she's sitting across from Elsa.]
Could it be the stress of this new location?
no subject
I don't think so. Usually, stress makes my magic more... unpredictable. Not like this, but in a way that makes it harder to keep inside. If it was stress, I imagine I might have iced over the entire dormitory the moment I woke up.
[... It's a little strange, talking so openly about the problems she once had with her magic. But it's been so long since anything like that happened, and she's not scared of hurting people like she once was. So it makes her less nervous to talk about these things now.]
no subject
[It's practically unheard of, where Maya is from. But that doesn't seem to faze her. She nods as if it's perfectly normal.]
So, something else is interfering here. [She taps her chin.] The Balladeer is not in touch with the so-called narration of this place. I wonder if it is a similar effect.
no subject
[Look at that! The Balladeer immediately drifts over to see.]
That's incredible!
no subject
Thank you. Honestly, it's... not anything close to what I can usually do, but for some reason, I can't tap into my full power...
no subject
[Not his story, not his narration!]
Not sure why that'd affect you.
no subject
[It's not some sad, self-deprecating speech. Elsa knows she has a place among people - but that's with her family, not here.]
... What sorts of things can you do?

Or don't. Because that surprised, wonderous look is plain on her face.]
Elsa... Is that magic?
no subject
[At the sound of someone close by, a few tiny flurries spiral around Elsa's fingers. It's not a loss in control, not what she's caused in the past... it's more similar to dropping a plate out of shock. The flakes fade quickly, and Elsa shakes her hands out before turning to Cassandra and smiling.]
Ah... yes. Yes it is. I'm guessing the rumors haven't reached Corona?
[Which is... surprising, considering Rapunzel was at her coronation. But also reassuring in a way, that the news of that incident hadn't reached one of her closest allied kingdoms.]
no subject
[The flurries only further confirm her curiosity; magic. Over the last year of Cassandra's life, she's come into contact with more magic than she ever had in the past twenty years. The world was practically fit to burst with it.... and it was looking like their neighbors in Arendelle were just as lucky.]
N-no? I mean... [She shakes her head, honestly confused.] Which ones?
[There's always hushed talk behind closed castle doors. Within earshot of handmaidens who may as well be invisible.]
no subject
I... sort of made a scene, at my coronation. [She reaches up, awkwardly scratching at the back of her neck.] I hadn't meant to reveal my powers, but they sort of... slipped out, during an argument between my sister and I. In the middle of a crowded ballroom.
