Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

[As Discord slings an arm around Salieri's shoulders, he stiffens again. Why must he be constantly hounded by this cretin? Anyone else would've realized by now that Salieri does not want to spend any time with them at all, but instead this man continues to act like a complete child--

[quietly, like he's saying it to himself, but it's easy enough for Discord to hear]

Monsieur Discorde. [he drawls it out a little, but much softer, almost gentle as he turns his head to look up at Discord]

I really I must offer you an apology.

[And Discord squints at that because. what the fuck. what the fuck???]

You see, things have been so incredibly strange around here, and between meeting so many new people and adapting to these circumstances as they are, I'm afraid I treated you quite poorly. [he reaches up to take Discord's hand off his shoulder, turning so he's standing in front of him, holding his hand between them in one of his own, cupped over his palm]

Normally I pride myself on being able to read others with much more accuracy, but I'm afraid I didn't realize until now what was really going on.

[the corner of his mouth curves into a small, kind, slightly knowing smirk]

Monsieur Discorde, from here on out, you need only ask if you wish you spend time with me. I promise that I will do my utmost to make time for you.

[He looks genuinely perturbed at this. What is happening here. This isn't allowed? This is NOT how this game works.]

[He feels strangely disgusted. He's being talked to like he's anyone else. Awful.]

Inwardly, Salieri feels a vicious twist of satisfaction at having rendered this lout utterly speechless.

Outwardly, however, he continues with his pleasant, understanding expression]

Now...would you like to help me inspect the stage? I'm trying to get a feel for the space, you see, so I can ensure that everyone who is helping has an idea of what they need to make. And I would so enjoy your company.

[he would not, but boy can he make it sound like he does, as he squeezes Discord's hand]

[disharmonizes]

[And far from his earlier overly physically affectionate behavior, Discord just pulls back at that squeeze, because what.]

...Well, I am here anyway, may as well.

[He sounds so annoyed.]

Wonderful. [Already, Salieri feels far more in control of the situation]

Now...your chandelier suggestion might be quite effective, if we can find a proper chandelier. I'm not entirely sure whether the Greeks had them necessarily, but historical accuracy can be rather overrated sometimes, I think.

[he is absolutely not going to put a chandelier in here lol but sometimes a good defense is an even better offense]

[He hates you so much, sir.]

It's taking place in a cafeteria, I think the historical accuracy boat has more than sailed away.

[Angrily folding a little boat out of paper, for emphasis.]

[Salieri allows himself a small chuckle at that] True enough. [he glances over at the little boat (where did he get the paper???) before taking a step back towards him] Though there is something to be said for a little bit of suspension of disbelief, isn't there?

[he'll reach out to pluck the boat from his fingers, flipping it so it's between his middle and index finger, dragging it a bit from left to right, weaving it up and down a bit.] After all, there's many a performance that takes place on the sea, and yet there is no water to be found.

[His tone is still politely friendly. my, it does feel nice to have the upper hand]

[He looks pretty annoyed at that boat being plucked from his hands and he huffs a bit. But he does his best to recover. He'll let this one go.]

Unless you flooded the theatre first, of course. Simply for immersion's sake, of course.

Of course. [dryly, bemused]

I can think of a few of the nobility that might find that quite novel, in fact.

Ugh. Nobility.

In that case I would take extra care to soak all their fancy outfits in particular.

[he arches an eyebrow at that] Oh?

I've spent entirely too much time watching nobles and all their fancy parties and I couldn't so much as roll my eyes. So, if nothing else, I should make up for lost time by making their time absolutely dreadful.

You couldn't roll your eyes? [somehow, that is a delightful prospect, and Salieri doesn't bother to disguise the slight quirk to the corner of his mouth] However did that happen?

Yes, physically could not roll my eyes.

I was petrified at the time.

[That is not what he expected to hear, but there's is certainly a part of him that is absolutely pleased as punch to hear it. The thought of Discord being able to not move at all, not to even roll his eyes, is an absolute delight. Of course, he's not going to let that show on his face--that he keeps to a mild curiosity]

That sounds...inconvenient. How did you come to be petrified, exactly?

[disharmonizes]

Oh, for nothing serious, really.

I mean, you take over a kingdom and plunge it into eternal chaos one time and nop-- nobody lets you forget about it!
