WEEK 2

[From the day you arrived on the planet, and blinking, stepped into the sun. There's more to see than can ever be seen, and more to do than can ever be done. Yet, still, the whole thing seems...monotonous. Surely there must be some excitement, some showmanship, some sort of plot twist that could keep this show moving onward?

Welcome to week 2, gents.

lifegoalsorwifegoals: ('cause you're really my dearest friend)

[Thursday and Friday didn't seem too great for D-ne. She was nervous, overly vigilant... Something had her on edge. Probably just being in this place for awhile, really. Whatever the reason, she was absolutely nowhere on Saturday. Seems she didn't even leave her room to eat or use the restroom.

Maybe that's all she needed to reset, because reasonably early Sunday morning, she's in the kitchen, making herself a rolled omelette. A pretty blue ribbon hangs from the right side of her hair, tied in a loose bow, though it looks a little silly with her hair pulled back. So it won't get in her way? Probably. You might also catch her looking through the cabinets for something, rather determined.

It's laundry day, though she's not washing her school uniform, just some extra outfits. ...They're not really anything to write home about, honestly, looks like she's not great at putting together a good ensemble wardrobe. Some jackets, a less-than-fashionable sweater. Pleated skirts.

Throughout most of the day, she just flits around, a little idle. Sits in the lobby writing something on a clipboard in her lap, occasionally appearing a little confused.

Overall, her attitude's much better. A day of rest can do anyone good!

[...Well, eventually, he was going to have to try to do this. Raoul has picked up the clothes he's used this week and sucked it up, heading towards the laundry room. It's clear just from his initial expression that Raoul is going to spend a lot of time in here; he marvels at the washing machines, inspects the dryers, even takes time to read the labels on all the detergents. Thank goodness there's instructions on these things, or else he'd be up laundry creek without a paddle.

You're likely to find him in here, washing one article of clothing at a time. Yes. He is literally putting on one shirt, watching it go through the cycle, then putting it out to dry and putting another thing in. At least he's being careful with the detergents?]

[It's starting to dawn on Hime that when this place isn't terrifying, it's almost boring. Well, that can't do. She's going to MAKE it interesting! ...Somehow.

To that end, you can find her in the costume shop in the morning, trying to sew... something. Something very lumpy and square. She tosses it across the room and whines.]

What am I supposed to do if I can't even sew a stupid cushion!?

[What indeed. Later in the day, she'll go back to the music room and try out the instruments again. At least the drum kit doesn't produce horrible noises if you don't know how to play it, generally.

When night approaches, Hime's in the ballroom twirling around in circles. She flops down onto the floor and stares up at the chandelier for a while.]

There's nothing to do.

Tamagoyaki!

[Hime runs over and clasps her hands, then smiles up at D-ne.]

I was showing Jezebel how to make it last week! I bet yours is great.
rockthistown: (leave before they see us)

[personal profile] rockthistown 2016-10-16 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought you were supposed to put all your shirts in at once. Or maybe just the ones that are the same colour? I don't do the laundry back home...
dontfeedplants: (You know the book doesn't lie)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-16 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
[Seymour was actually heading off to do laundry himself when he sees Raoul.]

Is that how you're supposed to use that?

[He sounds more genuinely curious than anything. Sure, he had heard of washing machines, but they were always too poor to even consider getting one, especially one as fancy as that. So for all he knew, this is exactly how you're supposed to use a washing machine.]
onthebusagain: (Or forget that creep)

[personal profile] onthebusagain 2016-10-16 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Heather's caught him- which is either a blessing, a curse, or a little of both. She's trying so hard to be nice here, but people keep giving her prime material!]

Jesus! What are you doing?
dechagny: (will smugly concede)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-16 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[Raoul turns, meets Seymour's eyes...and shrugs.]

I'm not certain. This is...definitely an experiment, on my part. [He points to the detergent.] I have found, however, that following the directions on these containers is prudent.
dechagny: (aint no viscount got time for that)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-16 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
You can put more than one article of clothing inside at once?

[Like yeah there's enough room but will they all be cleaned properly that way??]
dechagny: (will smugly concede)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-16 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Jesus? Jesus has nothing to do with this. He's a carpenter, not a launderer.]

Why, Miss Heather, I am washing my clothes.
onthebusagain: (Maybe Sesame Street is on)

[personal profile] onthebusagain 2016-10-16 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Half of the people here would flunk out-- but don't worry, my caring nature [Yeah, right.] will help you out. Please tell me you aren't cleaning one thing at a time. [She saw him take that single pair of pants out, and the pile of unwashed clothes left behind is awfully suspicious.]
dechagny: (mild disgust)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-16 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I am very sorry, but I cannot lie - I am.

[At least he didn't overfill it with soap...?]
rockthistown: (is that really gonna work)

[personal profile] rockthistown 2016-10-16 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're supposed to or else it's a waste? Ribbon did the laundry back at the embassy.
dechagny: (cannot believe)

[personal profile] dechagny 2016-10-16 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[Well, he doesn't...care about waste, I mean, he's sure the management here pays for the water, and honestly, if he can cause them trouble, he really should. But then again, how much soap will they have if he keeps doing it this way?]

I...do suppose I can try adding more. How much do you think would be sufficient?
rockthistown: (what does that have to do with it)

[personal profile] rockthistown 2016-10-16 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. You can't have that much laundry after a week, though, right? So maybe just all the shirts at one time?
dontfeedplants: (What am I saying?)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-16 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's been nearly a week now, and Seymour was finding himself horribly lonely. Sure, everyone was nice to him so far, way nicer than most people in his life have ever been to him.

However, as the days went on, the idea of staying here for a whole month just sounded... painful, for lack of a better term. It was to the point that he kept repeating the thought "just three more weeks"

He's going to spend most of Sunday either sitting at the Dinning room table or just lazily pacing the hallways of the opera house. In both instances he seems very deeply lost in thought, but occassionally he'll start asking questions like...]

You think they'll let us send letters back home if we ask?

[Or say something like...]

Gosh, I hope they do let us out once the month is over.

[This question is partially to himself, but definitely directed at you if you choose to repsond to it.]
dontfeedplants: (Stick with that plant)

[personal profile] dontfeedplants 2016-10-16 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[He examines the detergent.]

It doesn't sound too hard. No worse than hand washing, at least.

[He then looks at the washing machine.]

But it looks like it takes a long time to do it. You could probably hand wash all your clothes a lot quicker than this.
rockthistown: (this is why people think you're erika)

[personal profile] rockthistown 2016-10-16 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so, but I don't know what to do. A whole month in here? I've probably missed the show anyway, and... [sigh]

It's been seven days we've been trapped in this place
I want to believe what Winslow said
That no one will die and we'll be freed and replaced
Then we can move on and just forget...

But I'm bored!

...What are you looking for?

[Astarte sure just snuck up there...]
onthebusagain: (Go braid her hair)

[personal profile] onthebusagain 2016-10-16 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
[Her face says it all] I'm going to save you some time. We need to split your clothes into four piles- darks, whites, light colors, and a pile for anything that might need hand washed. Oh! Or anything dry-clean only, we'all have to hand wash that too.
