week 1
[Well, all escape attempts have failed thus far. None of you have seen the Phantom since his brief appearance on Sunday, or heard from him at all. It looks like, for the time being, you’re all going to be stuck here.
You're free to continue exploring your surroundings to your hearts' content. The only real restriction on your movements is that the kitchen is closed between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Better make sure to grab any midnight snacks you may want ahead of time. Also, remember to label any investigation toplevels!
The Merchandise Booth is now open for business as well! The Phantom hasn't deigned to explain how it works, but...well, some of you will start to find mysterious coins in your rooms, and the Booth's got a place to put coins. You'll figure it out.
Should you wish to engage more with your host, you're welcome to drop letters in the box office slot. There's no set way to converse verbally with him, and he's certainly not guaranteed to respond if you just yell at the walls - but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't listening. Just something to keep in mind.
Enjoy your first week, everyone.]
Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday
(( OOC: This will be the last mod post for this week! Feel free to start submitting regains for any threads that aren't with the Phantom. Remember, song threads mean an extra coin! This is a peace week, so get all that CR while you can! ))

Well, surely there's some kind of middle ground. I certainly wouldn't mind it being dark in the bedrooms.

I suppose if it's enough of a bother, it could be broken. But surely there is a way to turn it off without absolutely destroying it.
[Investigating the Opera house? Discovering why they're there? No way! It's time to investigate how lights work!]
no subject
If you can find such a way, then certainly be my guest, my good man. I will tell you, blowing them out is definitely not the way to go.

Excellent advice, my fellow scholar. [A beat, before Ariel lowers his voice. He doesn't want to startle his new friend with this very important information.]
I've heard tell that they're made of lightning. In a manner of speaking, of course. Harnessed electricity, used to power towns! Can you believe it?
no subject
Lightning? Why, that's remarkable! Then it isn't fire at all? But it's so hot to the touch!
Wait a minute... You're not making fun of me, are you?
no subject
[He shakes his head quickly, almost looking offended.]
Pursuits of knowledge are of the utmost importance to me. I would never joke about it
no subject
[Richard grins, putting an arm around Ariel's shoulders and patting his chest with the other hand.]
Because if you were making fun of me I could totally have you killed.
Now tell me more about the jars of lightning!
no subject
Steven the younger says that the lightning is pooled in sockets, which should not be touched. They are connected by... wires, I believe. There are towns that are simply covered in these wires.
Lightning in jars, for everyone! No need to worry about candlelight becoming firelight.
no subject
...Did he say anything about how to turn the lightning off.

The small, red one -- she and I rotated a few dials on one of the devices in the kitchen. It caused water to flow. Perhaps the reverse might be true; if we locate the right dial, we can turn the lights off?
no subject
Maybe a lever, or... a button?
no subject
Come now, good man!
no subject
[Richard runs after him.]
Why are we running?
no subject
See now?
no subject
I don't-
[And then Ariel flicks it and the lights go out, and Richard gasps loudly. When Ariel flicks it back on, Richard jumps in place and claps his hands excitedly.]
That's amazing! Such a tiny lever can make it dark and light so quickly!

[Sorry he's gonna... sit here and play with it a minute.]
