[Well, all escape attempts have failed thus far. None of you have seen the Phantom since his brief appearance on Sunday, or heard from him at all. It looks like, for the time being, you’re all going to be stuck here.

You're free to continue exploring your surroundings to your hearts' content. The only real restriction on your movements is that the kitchen is closed between the hours of 10 pm and 7 am. Better make sure to grab any midnight snacks you may want ahead of time. Also, remember to label any investigation toplevels!

The Merchandise Booth is now open for business as well! The Phantom hasn't deigned to explain how it works, but...well, some of you will start to find mysterious coins in your rooms, and the Booth's got a place to put coins. You'll figure it out.

Should you wish to engage more with your host, you're welcome to drop letters in the box office slot. There's no set way to converse verbally with him, and he's certainly not guaranteed to respond if you just yell at the walls - but that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't listening. Just something to keep in mind.

TIME TO STRESS BAKE

[ Well that sure was... a lot yesterday. Nana has her fears and concerns obviously like everyone else, but you know what the best thing she can think of doing now to try and keep from having a break down? Do things like she normally would back home and then try and make herself useful with the skills she has.

So the first thing she does as early in the morning as possible is get up, go find a dance leotard in the costume shop and then head to the dance studio. Practice was the usual way she started her mornings, so that's how she's going to continue doing them. Any little bit of normalcy helps right now after all. So she can be found there, quietly doing her stretches.

Once she's got a bit of practice in she heads to the kitchen and gets to baking. It's an unfamiliar kitchen but she gets used to it pretty fast, already having a batch of her signature banana muffins in the oven (or at least the closest she can get to her usual recipe with whats available). As they bake, she's working on getting some simple sandwiches together-- nothing too fancy but it should hopefully be good enough for everyone. And she is making enough for everyone. ]

Mmm, should I make the second batch with something else? Maybe not everyone likes bananas...

[ Once she's got a couple batches of muffins done and plenty of sandwiches made, she goes around the halls, making rounds and greeting everyone she sees. ]

Hi! Have you eaten yet? I made some lunch for everyone if you'd like some! After all, it's important to eat and keep our energy up even in a situation like this.

[ And cooking is the best way she knows to make herself important. ]

[Angus rarely had to cook for himself, being royalty, so it comes as a pleasant surprise to see someone already making something when he planned to find whatever fruit was available.]

Are you making those for everyone? [It would be rude to assume such a thing and take food for himself.]

[ She looks up from her work and beams brightly. ]

I am! Feel free to help yourself! [ She gestures to the plate of finished sammies ]

If you don't mind waiting a little while my delicious banana muffins will be ready soon too.

You are a life saver.

[Literally. Angus was too angry to be hungry yesterday, and he is famished. He takes a sandwich between his gloved hands, holding it neatly.]

It is fortunate that we are given enough food. I would have assumed this showrunner would prefer to starve us into submission

[ a small giggle ] I do my best!

[ She starts working on assembling another sandwich as she speaks. ]

Mmm, I’m really grateful for that too. [ And that there’s bananas because how on earth would she cope otherwise without her favourite ingredient ] But it is a little weird in that case, isn’t it?

Maybe his real goal is to actually have us live here forever?

[The smell of food draws Ariel to the kitchen not out of hunger, but out of curiosity. His experimentation yesterday had resulted in soggy food -- he's eager to learn how the devices in the kitchen actually function.


Unfortunately that means there's some... awkward looming happening here. Sorry Nana.]

How in the name of heaven are you doing that?

[ She... tries not to say anything about the awkward looming and just roll with it for now but Ariel's question gets here to finally look back at him, puzzled. ]

Huh? You mean how I'm cooking?

Well... it's something I've had a lot of practice with! It's like second nature now.

Well, I'd imagine so. [He can't say anything for the taste, but the smell is divine.]

But all of these devices. You're familiar with them?

Oh! Yes, I am. They’re all pretty up to date with what I’m used to back home.

[ She pauses for a moment. She’s already met a prince from another dimension, there’s a humanized gem stone walking around, and the Phantom of the Opera is here, inside their mind - none of that even touches the shit she’s gotten up to back home. Suddenly his question seems a lot less weird to her. ]

Do you not have them where you’re from?

Maybe you could add chocolate? Do we have any chocolate?

[Where did this very eager teen come from? Since when does she have an apron? And how is she already measuring out ingredients? Don't ask questions.]

How many bananas do you usually add? Maybe you could replace it with a different fruit.

[ Oh yay! A baking buddy! Nana is more than happy to have some help. ]

Chocolate would be a good idea... but I didn’t see any earlier.

[ Maybe they could... try asking the Phantom for some......maybe...... ]

Usually I use four— three for the batter and an extra one to slice up on top. A different fruit though... maybe strawberry?

[If anyone could annoy coerce the Phantom into providing them chocolate, it would probably be Christine, but she decides to take a look around and try to make do with what they have.]

That could work? Oh, unless you mash the bananas in the batter? I know some people do, but strawberries would taste better as chunks inside the batter, I think.

I do mash them, yes. But you’ve got a good point— chunks would definitely be better for strawberries than a puree.

[ Would that mess up the moisture levels...? But strawberries ARE pretty juicy... 🤔 ]

[Sigyn is sitting in the lobby, staring at the door seemingly lost in thought. When Nana comes in she's fiddling with something on a chain around her neck, but it's quickly tucked away when Nana speaks up.]

Oh, thank you. [She smiles and takes a muffin and a sandwich.] Did you make these all yourself?

Yep! I sure did! [ A big proud smile ]

I love cooking, so I figured it was the least I could do to help keep everyone's spirits up.

That's very thoughtful of you.

[She takes a small bite of the muffin, the sweet taste more of a comfort than she had expected.]

Thank you! They're my signature banana muffins, but I wasn't sure if everyone was going to like them as much as my friends do. I'm glad they seem to be a hit so far!

[ Some time after Nana starts her routine, she gets some company! Riley, in her simple t-shirt and tight shorts, seems surprised to see someone else up and working out. ]

Oh. It looks like we had the same idea. Do you mind company?

[musacal]

[ Oh hey Riley! She smiles and waves from the floor, where she's leaning over one leg. ]

Oh, not at all! Come and join me-- it's weird practicing by myself.

[ Mornings at least are usually so much more bustling and animated :( ]

[ She offers a bright smile -- maybe a bit too bright for the situation, but hey, gotta cope where you can -- and takes a seat a reasonable distance away, beginning her own stretches. ]

I'm a bit used to it. Are you on a team of some sort?

Something like that.

[ She moves and reaches for her other foot. ]

I go to a school that specializes in music theatre. In the acting division we tend to have dance classes every day, so mornings usually start with all of Class A practicing together.

shilo sort of edges into the kitchen, sniffing at the air a little, and asks with complete sincerity: ]

Is that what that smell is?

Hm?

[ She looks up and smiles. ]

Uh-huh! It's my favorite banana muffins! They should be ready soon if you want to try some!

Uh... sure.

[ She looks around the kitchen. ]

Do you bake a lot?

[musacal]

Mmhm. All the time. It's one of my hobbies.

[ She picks up the plate of sandwiches and holds them out to Shilo in case she wants one. ]

I usually cook for everyone in my dorm too.
