WEEK 3
[The past weekend has been a difficult one. With Valjean's murder and D-ne's brutal execution the monotony has been broken and it can be said the show is finally and truly underway.

When the performers emerge from their rooms on Monday morning the decor of the opera house has changed. Not drastically but someone was busy during the night with some redecorating. There are cobwebs draped over nearly everything, some of them with tiny plastic spiders stuck in the cotton webbing, and pumpkins of various sizes on the floor and on the tables. Some of the walls have been adorned with cartoon-ish paper skeletons and scarecrows and in the ballroom a poseable plastic skeleton has been posed at the piano looking ready to play. Someone's even set a bowl of candy on the counter of the merch booth.

But that's not all. There's a light coming from the now open doorway in the lobby that had been previously locked for the past two weeks. This new floor is similarly decorated but why not go have a look and explore for yourself?

Despite their losses, the show must go on after all.

[...Okay, so on the one hand, it is absolutely not and he is fully willing to admit this stuff is a garbage fire; on the other hand this particular garbage fire is a lot better than the stuff you can find in Chicago. (For a given degree of "better," he's surprised this stuff made it into print? It's kind of impressive. Anyway.)]

It's absolutely swell for what it is, but it's not everybody's thing.

[So he will not...entirely recommend the smutty thing to the actual sweetheart of a princess, but who knows, maybe she likes her smutty things.]

And how are you holding up? The weekend was...something, anyway.

[Light romance might be the way to go for her right now. No need to completely ruin her Disney in one go.

Ah... she falters a bit.]

It... I'll be fine. I just hope it doesn't happen again.

After all that, I'll be more surprised if it does. Don't you worry, all right?

[Now that everyone knows the stakes and all.]

Besides, princess or otherwise - you're a strong kid. Just keep your head up. It'll come through one way or another.

[Yet it's hard. She's never witnessed even an animal dying.

That compliment makes her feel a little better, a smile on her lips again.]

I don't think I've ever heard anyone call me strong before.

Color me surprised, then - you seem like you can take care of yourself, easy.

[If she knew what she's supposed to know, then yes, she would be proud of being able to say she could.

But right now she's just who she thinks she is.]

What can I say? I call it like I see it. Sometimes it's not half as nice, but you've been pretty all right.

Anyway, you probably want something a little lighter than what I've got, as reading materials go. You're probably looking for the romance novels, though, right? Either that or you're going to surprise me.

[Hopefully she can stay strong in the next few days.

Hmmm...]

I've never really read romance novels. It was mostly fairy tales, geography, and history books back home. Where do I find those novels?

[Is there a section?]

Should be over here somewhere, come on.

[He'll actually get up, if for no better reason than god, he needs something to do with himself right now. Also, it's better to demonstrate these sorts of things than risk her running into the Absolute Trash that most of this section he's been hanging out in consists of.]

Are you just really into history, or was there not much else for you to do?

[She would greatly appreciate that.]

Not much else. I had tutors, and learning history was important, but I didn't actually pay attention to a lot of it. It's really as boring as geography.

No, I don't blame you - it's all dates and memorization where I'm from, the sort of thing that'll put a guy to sleep in seconds if you don't have the taste for it, and I definitely didn't.

I didn't mind it when I was younger, because it was important... but then it got really boring. Same facts over and over again just with different people.

Well, you know what they say about history repeating itself - it's probably more important for royalty to know about all that, I'd think.

Yeah, I know. I just don't get why I have to. I'm never going to be queen unless Elsa steps down or I marry some prince with the claim to a throne.

...Well, you never know. Sometimes things happen.

What is it about romance that interests you, really - is it the whole triumph over adversity thing, just the concept in general, something else...

[That's a good question.]

I think I want one where the woman is in charge. Where she doesn't have to be saved. So triumphing?
