Week Six

[Last week, in It's Curtains, the weather changed, and with it your fortune in Dads. Discord took Salieri out - or perhaps Salieri took Discord out - and left the survivors with that much less impulse control. Nonetheless, a visit from a new friend might have provided a little bit of much-needed hope?

On Sunday morning, you'll find that the other side of the second floor has opened up - as well as the actual intended path to reach the roof garden. You can finally stop climbing up that rope every time you want to have a picnic or secret lover's rendezvous!

Outside, the weather seems to have calmed down. It's sunny again, with rather a lot of clouds. Though it's warm, the atmosphere seems very...still.]

[Spongebob, meanwhile, is silent, deathly still. His head resting on the airbag.]

[Well this is. Something of a kerfuffle to wake up to. She'd only been dimly aware of the commotion outside of her door, and had been slow to follow the others. She makes it out just in time to hear the crunching of metal. It doesn't matter who it is -- Maya's flying toward the wreckage, barefoot and in a nightgown.

She stops short, however, when she sees who's at the wheel.]

No. No, no, no.

[Benjamin is not a doctor. He's not even from the era when barbers were still marginally trained in surgery.

He hears Farrah screaming, sees Angus going to her side of the car, and as much as he wants to be there for her he's the first one at the other side.

So he wrenches the driver's side door open.]

Oh, God--

[Benjamin's blood freezes, his motions jerky as he reaches out, stops short, then reaches out again and makes contact, nudging his shoulder.]

Stay with me, boy. Come on. You're alright.

[The first thing Benjamin will notice is the blood. It seems like Spongebob took the brunt of the car crash.

When Benjamin shakes him, he stirs, groaning a little. It seems he's alive, for now.

It hurts. It hurts so much to open his eyes. He just wants to sleep so badly. But through it all, he forces himself to open his eyes, to figure out what happened.]

[When his eyes meet Benjamin, he gives him a weak, crooked smile. He seems to be trying to say something.

It takes him a few attempts, between the injury and his clouded brain, but eventually he spits out:]

Did I do it, Mr. Salieri?

[Benjamin's breath freezes in his chest, his blue eyes meeting Spongebob's. Eventually, he swallows hard, and gives him a pained smile.

Whatever "it" is, whoever he's seeing... It's more important to keep him calm.]

You did it, my boy.

Come on, let's get you out of there.

[Rather than waste time and possibly hurt him worse by reaching over him to unbuckle the seatbelt (and because he doesn't understand what a seatbelt is), he will just whip out his razor and start cutting through the canvas straps.]

[As Benjamin gets closer, Spongebob lets out a pained whine.]

Mr. Salieri, why does my arm hurt so much?

[If he looks, he'll notice that Spongebob's arm is bent oddly, like it's broken.]

[Benjamin is careful not to touch him as he cuts him free. The razor was sharp enough to cut a hair in half before this, so in the work of a moment he's cut through the seatbelt.

When he looks up at SpongeBob again, he notices the arm and goes pale, but puts on the most reassuring tone he can.]

...Nothing- nothing to worry about. Just, do me a favor and hold that arm close to your chest for a moment, if you would. We'll get it feeling better soon.

[He tries his best to hold it, but he winces a lot through the pain. The effects of the alcohol beginning to fade doesn't help as he almost starts to come to a little.]

Wait... didn't... didn't Discord tell me...?

[Oh god his head. Spongebob's just going to rest his head on the wheel again.]

Neptune, my dads are gonna hate me for this.

[When I'm drunk he says, as though that makes any part of this better.

Cassandra has seen some pretty nasty carriage crashes, on account of her job. Drunken drivers who thought they could handle the reigns. Heavens know she's had to rip the leather bound to Fidella and Maximus out of Eugene's hands once or twice. It made her angry before, righteously so.

It still does.]

[His head rolls lazily to meet her eyes.]

[There's just. So many feelings right now. Elsa wants to cry with utter relief that he and Farrah are both alive, but everything inside of her is twisting in a mass of anger and frustration and an overwhelming sense of worry. Spongebob... he's like everyone's brother here. If anything happened to him...]

[She tries to keep her voice even, but fails absolutely miserably.]

[He's silent, a strange feeling of guilt, sadness, and shame washes over him as he looks away from Elsa.]

Farrah and I wanted to see our dads again.

...yeah, 'll go find Bob. Make breakfast for everyone. Heeeeee's cool like that.

[And she's gonna kind of caterpillar off. If or when anyone looks for her once the drama's wound down a bit, she'll be curled up on one of the cafeteria tables about halfway to the kitchen, snoring quietly.]
