I have no doubt that he's as truthful with her as he is with us.

He likely spun the most sympathetic story he could muster to draw her in, and only stopped the act when it was too late for her to break away from him.

A young, isolated girl, looking for her place in life... Yeah. Not too hard to imagine just what he might've promised.

[Another cringe. But Elsa's not just thinking of herself this time, but Anna. How easily she'd fallen into Hans's trap, because of how desperate she was for some sort of love and attention...

She thinks of the one thing that kept her going through all her years of isolation; the idea that if she somehow figured out her magic and successfully repressed it, just like her father wanted, he would let her see Anna again. He'd so often... used the idea of Anna like that. Telling her that she had to protect her sister, that the locked gates and the isolation would be over if she could just learn to control it...]

And he wouldn't even need to give her proof that he could keep that promise. If the idea is tempting enough... people would put themselves through terrible things, to try and be happy.

[It. Definitely sounds like she's talking from experience here, whether she means to or not.]
