Week Five

[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!

Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!

Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.

[ Peregrine scrunches up her face. ]

[ Janis gasps. ]

[ And she breaks down into giggles. ]

There's gonna be discourse about us, Per!

[ She kisses... well, she tries for somewhere else, but ends up kissing Peregrine's neck, and she's just fine with that. ]

But nah, it's not weird. I'm gonna be eighteen in like... time?

[comeandfindme]

[ That just makes Peregrine giggle more, partly because it tickles and partly because she's embarrassed. ]

I don't even know how eighteen I am. [ Wait. ] Like...how long's it been? A month, at least.

[fourbutts]

I mean that's up on me, I don't think I have a canon birthday.

[ Said in a startlingly normal tone. ]

A month? A little more? Oh my god a month ago I didn't know you or Maya. That's so sad.

[ Peregrine blinks. No, she's been in a really poorly chosen Yuletide challenges, she's...familiar with the term, but it still kind of confuses her.

Still, not important! ]

Yeah... I didn't know any of you guys. That's...depressing, actually.

[fourbutts]

Yeah...

[ After a second, she develops Resolve. ]

No thinking about that! No being sad. I know you now and that's... that's what matters.

[ Peregrine more echoes Janis than anything else. ]

[ Janis, a relatively single-minded high: ]

Heheheh. You're cute! You make me wanna like... walk around a lake. You guys do have those up there, right, that's not a lie they tell in Wisconsin?

Janis. All we have are lakes and forests and existential despair.

Well I can get that last one in Skokie, so I wanna see the other two.

Okay. Well. You can walk around a lake but forests are dangerous. So maybe stay out of those.

What's a Skokie? Is that a plant?

Can we walk around a lake holding hands? That sounds nice.

[ She shakes her head. ]

Nah, it's a suburb. It's like the one where I live but... with no flavor. Does that make sense?

[comeandfindme]

Yess... [ A beat. ] Nooo. But that's okay. Everything's fuzzy right now, like. Like words are fuzzy right now. I wanna go on a lake walk.

[fourbutts]

Lake walk! Wizard shoulda given us a lake.

[ janis what else would you possibly have done with a lake- ]

Everything's fuzzy... wonder what painting would be like right now....

[comeandfindme]

[ drown, probably ]

Ohhhh... Oh, I didn't even think of that. Do you have paint?

[ do you SEE paint, peregrine?? do you??? ]
