Week Five

[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!

Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!

Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.

[post-motive and checking on a couple people, Salieri is going to go first to the Band Room, at which point he'll check to see if there's any new messages there in response to the ones he left on the underside of the piano bench. He's planing to then go to the Choir Room to check the back side of the whiteboard and see if there's a response to the message he left there as well.

After that, he'll return to the Band Room (part 2) where he'll settle down at the piano to do some composing. If there's anyone who's witnessed him in his more manic states of composing the past couple weeks, they might be relieved to see that that energy seems to have dissipated some, instead leaving room for something more focused and calm]

[Farrah hurtles herself into the band room at her normal Farrah hurtling speed, when she realizes whose there. It actually takes her a few seconds than longer, because he’s so… calm with it.

She slowly and silently goes to sit, and watch.]

[Salieri startles a bit as Farrah comes hurling in--but then his expression relaxes, even going fond as she comes and sits beside him. He sets down his pencil, then, reaching out to wrap an arm around her shoulders and lean over to press a kiss to the top of her head]

Afternoon, ma petite tigress.

[Farrah hadn’t meant to interrupt him— but she takes the affection nonetheless, leaning against him when he wraps his arm around her. She even playfully swipes the air with her hand, when he calls her by her new nickname.]

Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt you.

It's no trouble. A break never hurts.

[Farrah makes a tiny little ‘hmph’ noise as if she doesn’t believe him, but she doesn’t argue it either. She’s more than happy to stay leaned against him like this for a little bit more, squinting at his work as if that’ll make it make more sense to her. She can make out the basics, but it’s still new. It doesn’t convert to music in her brain yet.]

You seemed like you were doing good.

I...am. I'm getting further than the past couple of weeks, certainly.

[brokeforgood]

Hmm. [Farrah squints for a few more moments, then pats his knee.]

It must be all the creative energy you're getting from hanging around me so much.

[violentenvies]

[asldkfhs he can't help but chuckle at that]

Yes, that certainly must be it. [there's a crinkle at the corners of his eyes as he smiles] If I had only known that having a wonderful daughter to keep me on my toes would provide such a font of inspiration.

I knew it! [She laughs, too, because she's able to let down the facade of sarcasm and disinterest around him by now. She scoots a little away from him, so he can have both arms free.]

Is it-- about anything? Or is it just music?

[And now it's his turn to look a bit mischievous]

Nothing is ever just music. However...I'm afraid I can't divulge the nature of this one.

Choir Room

[After everything that happened motive ways, Maya just wants to focus on singing. And look, there's Salieri -- maybe they can practice? She follows him up to the whiteboard, preparing to ask.]

Are you looking for something in particular, Antonio?

[violentenvies]

[Salieri startles a little as Maya speaks, but he pokes his head out from behind the white board]

Ah, Maya--good afternoon. [he huffs a bit, moving to step out from behind it]

I was simply...checking something I left here last week. But nothing new has appeared. [he gestures to the back of the whiteboard and the message he left there]

A smart idea nonetheless. [Not that she expected anything less from Dad supreme.]

Have you found anything else of interest of late?

[violentenvies]

Aside from more of those carved messages...not particularly. What about you?

[mayavericks]

Nothing, I'm afraid.

[She shakes her head, just a little.]

I am... Starting to feel restless, in all honesty.

[violentenvies]

[Salieri huffs out a sigh, moving to sit in one of the chairs]

I can understand that. It feels like we're stagnating...finding out more clues but with no idea how to connect them.

[ Eurydice generally tends to stay out of people's way when they're working on music, mostly because Orpheus seems to prefer it. But today, as she's heading back from the girl's locker room, she hears someone playing and instead of walking by, she pokes her head in. It sounds nice. ]

Mind if I join you? I'll be quiet, I'm just crosschecking a few things.

[Salieri glances up as Eurydice speaks, and there's an immediately small smile that appears on his face when he sees who it is.]

Not at all--I'm happy for the company. [he even scoots over a bit on the piano bench and pats the seat next to him]

[ Eurydice didn't expect Antonio to offer a space on the bench, but she takes it without hesitation. She returns the small smile, and then pulls out her inventory and gets to work. Mostly, that involves a series of subtractions -- this week's inventory minus last week's -- and Eurydice keeps pretty focused, checking her work on her fingers every so often.

Once she gets through her first sheet, she'll pause to listen. ]

Oh, I like that part.

[Salieri pauses in the middle of the melody, before continuing, starting to tie in a harmony in his left hand]

Oh? [he repeats the pattern] This part?

Yeah.

[ She stands, setting the inventory on top of the piano. ]

It's -- you can kind of dance to it. [ she does a little bow, then a twirl. ] Like this, see?

I MEANT I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THREADS AT THE DENNY'S! THE DENNY'S!!!!!!!

[he watches as she stands, then does that example of a small dance, and he can't help but smile at hit, eyes crinkling a bit]

I see. So in that case, if I take that melody and continue that pattern--[he picks up playing where he left off, taking that part she liked and starting to spin a harmony with it, improvising and turning into a light dance]
