[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!

Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!

Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.

[She laughs, both a little astonished to have been called out on that, and full of pride that he knows her so well.]

Okay, you got me there.

How did you learn to do all this, anyway? Did you have some really good teacher?

I was lucky enough to have a couple very good teachers. My brother was my first teacher--he taught me music theory and some composition while he taught me the violin. Then, after my parents died, I started studying under an Italian operatic composer, then an opera singer...and then, Maestro Gassmann found me, and took me under his wing. [he sounds so fond of the man, voice softening] He took me to Vienna, and funded my musical education from there. I would not be anywhere near where I am now without him.

[Farrah sits still and listens—- a marvel in itself. Towards the end, though, there’s something about the fondness to his voice. It fills her with a warm, familiar joy, and she finds herself scooting back to lean against his side once more.]

Wow. That’s… [Combined with what she’s heard of his life before, it’s a lot.]

You know… You’re actually a pretty big deal.

[he'll shift his arm so he can put it around her shoulders as she sidles up to his side--and he glances down at her, arching an eyebrow, though he looks amused]

Did you think I was joking about working with his Majesty? [he's so amused tho]

No! I didn’t think—- Well. I didn’t think about that much. Like, I knew you were close with royalty, but I didn’t know you’re like — famous! And not just because of something stupid, you’re like—- actually famous! [She snuggles right on up to him, tilting her head up slightly so she can look at him out of the corner of her eyes.]

I read about you in the encyclopedia. I felt starstruck. You’re a really big deal, and I’m running around fucking calling you dad.

[well...color him a bit surprised actually]

Ah, well...you read about me? [he...honestly didn't expect there to be that much information. Not enough for Farrah to feel starstruck certainly] I...didn't realize there would be very much to read.

Not a ton—- but you're there. [She draws back, just slightly, so she can peer at him and gauge his reaction.]

One of your students turned out to be a really big deal, too. Someone I heard about before. Does that make you happy?

[he just...stares at her for a moment] I--really? [he sounds very surprised by this]

Does it make you happy? [She repeats her question, watching him carefully.]

Yeah. Really.

[Does it make him happy?

Well, that is a question. It's...complicated, really. That's good, isn't it? That one of his students became so well known? That's a legacy in and of itself, isn't it? And yet, it sits oddly in his stomach.

But for Farrah, he smiles]

It does, in fact. That makes me very happy. A teacher is always glad to hear of the success of his student.

[She bounces a little, much more cheerfully, content with that smile.]

Yeah! I thought so—- I knew it’s make you happy! [She sounds relieved, looking down at the piano— then back up at him.]

And… It made me really happy, too. That you’re that big a deal. And you still thought I could be good.

[that...gives him a moment of pause.]

Of course I did. I do. [quietly] Being a big deal or not doesn't...exactly dictate bad or good. [his own memories have proven that quite handily] What's more important than being either of those is simply...the trying.

Yeah. But you like… thought I could be good. [She emphasizes the word again.] Like… a good person.

That’s worth a lot.

Of course I thought you could. You can. You are. [he squeezes her a little gently]

That shouldn't have ever been a question.

[She smiles, and ducks her head down a little.]

I guess it doesn’t mean more just because you’re a big deal. It’s just as special. It’s also just like, a big “Fuck you Riley! My dad’s a famous music guy! What’s your dad do? Probably…. STUFF WITH MONEY?” [She has no idea what Riley’s parents do. Has anyone even seen Riley’s parents?]

[lskhdfs that makes him chuckle--he can't help it.]

Well, if that's how my fame could be weaponized, how could I refuse?

You can't. You didn't even have a choice to start.

Forget being known as the girl from Epic Cheerleader Fail. I'll be Farrah, the girl with the famed Antonio Salieri as her dad.

...admittedly, I am rather fond of that. [he smirks]

You're stuck with me, now.

[She beams, then scoots back out of his way.] ... Will you play me just a little bit of it?

And I'm glad of it. [warmly--but at that, he chuckles a little]

Very well. Just a bit. [as if he could truly refuse her anything, after all. And he starts to play a snippet of the music, a winding melody with an accompanying harmony, rising gently with a steady beat and meter]
