Week Five
[Last week, you had your very first minor body pileup! Granted, the Balladeer's death was entirely unrelated to anything, but at least he died as he lived - getting completely fucked up in some kind of carnival-themed hellscape. Only two days later, another terrible accident took Rina and Varian both from you. It's just been one of those weeks, huh? At least you got to add both of their corpses to your weird growing collection!
Again, you'll wake up this morning with another new snippet of memory. You'll also find that the stairs in the lobby are no longer blocked. You can only access one part of the second floor, but it seems like there's some neat stuff up there!
Outside, a few things seem to have changed. For one, the weather has turned - it'll be overcast this week, with periodic rain and even scattered thunderstorms. For another, the bushes around that rock out by the football field have bloomed. That's nice.
Get to it, friends! I'm sure everything will be fine this week!]

(( Be sure to submit your memory regain and your AC for this week! As always, Hester's office hours and the merch booth remain available. ))

She doesn't spend too much time thinking about it, though. Luckily, the machine already gave her a candle, and she uses that as a light. She pockets a few books of matches, and then, after making sure Orpheus is okay, wanders around the school to make sure everyone else is accounted for. Between the dim light of her candle and the large costume room coat she likes to wear, she looks a little like a ghost. She's pretty quiet, too, so hopefully she doesn't startle you!
Around lunchtime, she'll gather some of her rations from the girl's locker room and bring them down to the cafeteria. ]
What kind of beans? I've got kidney, I've got black, I've got great northern...just don't eat them all at once. We don't know how long this is gonna last.

She sort of... makes a face when she sees the offering, even if she tries to play it off.]
I... really did not think the food hoarding would be necessary.
no subject
[ It's hoarding. Eurydice catches that face, and raises an eyebrow in return. ]
I've also got green beans, but those aren't nearly as filling.

...Are you okay? You seem kind of on edge. [ more so than usual. ] Is the dark bothering you?
no subject
Ever since the ghosts, I have been... on edge.
no subject
[ or is more of a mourning dead friends situation? Eurydice honestly isn't sure. either of those are perfectly upsetting. ]
no subject
I have... Never liked them. I am. Afraid, even.
no subject
I get that. But you know there's nothing to be afraid of, right? I mean, look at Farrah and I. You aren't scared of us.
no subject
[Hang on.]
Wait. Eurydice-san, what are you saying?
no subject
no subject
[It's hardly surprising, considering what she knows of Eurydice's story. However --]
Does Orpheus-san know?
no subject
Oh, trust me. He knows. He's trying to bring me back to the living world -- or at least, that's the last thing we remember.
no subject
[Funny, how she doesn't sound too convinced. How could she, knowing what she does of their story.]
I don't think he will let you down.
no subject
I don't think he will, either. I know he doesn't plan on it. But it's a lot to ask of someone. [ a beat. ] Something still on your mind?
no subject
It just... reminds me of a story I read when I was a child. It had something of a sad ending.
no subject
[ ... ]
What happened, at the end?
no subject
[Vague motions at... everything.]
I would rather not taint this place with any more sad stories. I can... Tell you once we are free of this place.

cafeteria
I shouldn't be surprised... Thanks, Eurydice. This'll take our emergency rations from three days to...at least a week.
no subject
Don't mention it. Hopefully we won't have to last that long, but... [ she shrugs. ] Figured this would happen. Hopefully it's not meant to encourage anything.
no subject
I don't...think so? I'd be more sure but, like...that lightning the other night wasn't a coincidence. Who knows what else the Wizard can do?
no subject
Oh, that was definitely a warning. Maybe this is...a punishment? [ She bites at her lip a little. ] Orpheus and I have been assuming he's like a god, and since this seems to be more or less his, domain, he can probably do anything. Or most things.
no subject
[ That's a starkly horrifying and sobering realization for Peregrine. ]
If he can do all of this... Even create this whole place for us... Maybe so.
no subject
Yeah. That's why... [ gods, she can't believe she's saying this, but: ] ...we gotta stick together. We're stronger that way.
no subject
You're right. No one can go through all of this alone.
