We Only Have Tomorrow

[True to his word, on 6pm Thursday Spongebob has the party at the library set up and ready to go! It's filled with cute handmade decorations, snacks, and cobbled together games! Even with all the help he accepted, it's very clear that this was a passion project for Spongebob.

Taped around the library is a set of rules, and frankly there were a Lot of rule fliers around the library.]

RULES
1. Bring your own food and games! The more fun the better!
2. Stay as long as you want! We can make it a sleepover!
3. ABSOLUTELY NO MURDERING
4. Have fun! 💗💗💗💗💗

[Luckily for those who are aware of the cartoon, the party doesn't seem nearly as micromanaged as it could have been mostly because this party is more in a desperate attempt to keep everyone alive than anything else so have as much fun as you can before tomorrow!]

I guess we won't have to worry about running out of fruit for a little while? That's a nice thing to not have to worry about.

...Yeah, kinda makes our morning inventory seem a little silly. [ ... ] But just a little.

I think it's still good to keep track. We can't live on just apples. [ He takes a bite out of one and chews it thoughtfully, looking at the spread on the table. ] I guess we'll find out if this is working over the weekend. If canning and drying all these fruits counts as using them up, or if we don't get any more because it's still there and edible.

I hadn't thought of that. [ Immediately, she scowls. ] I wouldn't...put it past them. I'll look.

We'll see! I hope it does work, though. I like having fresh fruit again. It's been kind of a luxury where I come from for a really long time.

Oh... Yeah, Eurydice said...something along those lines earlier today. About not having many deer around.

Game's been hard to come by, too, yes. It's been hard for much of anything to grow, because the seasons where we come from are all wrong, and have been for a long time. It's been sort of hard adjusting? To the idea that there just... is food here. There's enough for everybody.

[ A wave of sympathy washes over her. ]

And that's another reason why you're doing inventory.

Yes. I - I don't think we're going to run out? But...

[ He trails off. It would be a very effective way to make things descend into chaos, albeit probably more slowly than the Wizard seems to want. Giving that thought voice feels like a bad idea, though, so he doesn't. ]

It just makes me feel a little more secure. And it's sort of nice, having something to do in the mornings.

[ Truthfully Eurydice does most of the work, but he's there for emotional support. ]

Tomorrow I think I'm going to start on preserving some of the meat we have. I don't know if you'd want to help with that? But if you do, you can.

[ Assuming nothing terrible happens that derails that plan entirely, or something. ]

Meat preservation? ...Yeah. I don't know a lot about that, Howl— he taught us to only hunt how much we thought we'd need and how to make the best use of it out in the wild, but. I know a little. And...I'm a pretty good student.

[ A beat— ] I mean. Angus was gonna talk strategy too, but. Like, I didn't get a specific...time...

Oh, it's okay! I don't mind if you just drop in for a bit if you have the time. And I don't know that much either? I'm not a butcher or anything back home, I just work at a bar and sometimes I get to help out in the kitchen. Most of what I'll be doing is trying to follow the instructions I found in a couple different books in the library.

We have a lot of time to teach ourselves new things here, at least! There's that. I still have to get Maya to try to teach me some of what she knows about singing.

Right! There are so many skilled and talented people here, like her and Maestro Salieri, it'd be a shame not to try to learn from them while I have the chance. This place might be kind of awful? But I really do appreciate everyone here.

[ Recognizing social cues is not Orpheus "Come Home With Me" Son of Calliope's strong suit, unfortunately. He lights up a little when Peregrine smiles, happy to see it. ]

I'm really glad I've gotten the chance to meet all of you, despite everything. I hope there's some way we can keep in touch after all of this is said and done.

I still think our best chance is probably finding a way to get Lord Discord's magic back? But it's hard to figure out how to do that, if we don't know how the Wizard sealed it in the first place.
