We Only Have Tomorrow

[True to his word, on 6pm Thursday Spongebob has the party at the library set up and ready to go! It's filled with cute handmade decorations, snacks, and cobbled together games! Even with all the help he accepted, it's very clear that this was a passion project for Spongebob.

Taped around the library is a set of rules, and frankly there were a Lot of rule fliers around the library.]

RULES
1. Bring your own food and games! The more fun the better!
2. Stay as long as you want! We can make it a sleepover!
3. ABSOLUTELY NO MURDERING
4. Have fun! 💗💗💗💗💗

[Luckily for those who are aware of the cartoon, the party doesn't seem nearly as micromanaged as it could have been mostly because this party is more in a desperate attempt to keep everyone alive than anything else so have as much fun as you can before tomorrow!]

[This isn't really Maya's type of deal. But... She can't exactly say no to Spongebob, now can she? So rather than doing anything particular (at first at least), she settles by the doors, shiny and pointy rapier in hand. She isn't about to let Spongebob's party be ruined, after all!

Still, she's dressed kind of casually for once, or as close to it as she can get. Her hair is even pulled up, rather than simply held back by her bow.

She won't wallflower the entire time at least. Instead, she goes to check in on the other wallflowers She picks up food here and there, checks in on others with a hand to the shoulder, especially if someone looks uncomfortable or unsure.]

[Well... look who has a sword.

Cassandra steps up, casually dressed, sword hanging from her side. She's not... terribly big on preparing for stuff like this. Especially out of the relative blue.]

The sword is new.

[mayavericks]

[Maya gives Cassandra a once over. She is looking respectfully. Game respect game and all that.]

I could say the same to you, Cassandra-san.

[Cassandra's eyes travel, equally respectful. Game recognizes game!]

Got it out of the machine earlier today. It's just your average soldier's saber. How about yours?

It's a fine weapon all the same.

[Maya shifts her wrist, letting her own blade catch the light.]

Odette the Mavericks. A weapon crafted specifically for me as part of the duels I am partaking in.

Sure is. I've taken pretty good care of it.

A sword specifically for dueling. [She whistles low, respectfully.] I'd love to see that thing in action someday.

Perhaps we can arrange a sparring session? I am not sure what we would do in the way of adequate protection but...

I could use a challenge.

[Maya is... actually startled by that. Her eyes go a little wide, and her lips part for all of two seconds, before she smooths her expression over.
She can't do much about the blush, though.]

Ah, of course. We're fighting. I look forward to it.

Right. Just fighting.

[Uggggh she's blushing, and now Cassandra's face feels like it's growing hot. Aaaaaaaa.]

Really. [A small shake of her head.] I'm not trying to flirt, I promise.

I imagine I am far too young for you.

[Maya shrugs, almost playful.]

A shame, but understandable. I will recover somehow.

[ Hey there Maya! Janis is going to just. Attach herself to your arm. She is not, at this point, filming. ]

I do feel safe, now that you mention it.

[This is fine. This is absolutely fine.]

Safe from most things, at least. Though I do hear there is a fearsome swordswoman wandering about, looking for a beautiful woman. You might want to beware.

[ She looks around, frowns. ]

I better stay close, then.

It's for the best.

[And you know, if Maya's arm finds its way around Janis's waist, well... It's for protection! No big deal!]

You grabbed anything to eat for yourself yet?

Not yet.

[She sobers, just a little.]

These sorts of gatherings aren't my preference. But Spongebob would be upset if I was not here, and... I rather like him at this point. At least enough not to make him cry.

Yeah, he's cool. Took a bit to get over how weird it is having a cartoon character in my dorm, but... I don't want to make him sad either. He's a good guy.

Cartoon -- [On second thought, she shakes her head.]

No. Never mind. I am glad we can both agree on this, at least.

It's fine, the whole thing is mostly just weird.

Far be it from me to argue with the professionals.

[It's hard to give a bow while she's got her arm wrapped around Janis but like. She still tries.]

Well... There's a truly unreasonable amount of vending machine pie in here, those are all pretty good.

Sharing a slice of pie sounds incredibly romantic. Are you sure that's something you are interested in?
