We Only Have Tomorrow

[True to his word, on 6pm Thursday Spongebob has the party at the library set up and ready to go! It's filled with cute handmade decorations, snacks, and cobbled together games! Even with all the help he accepted, it's very clear that this was a passion project for Spongebob.

Taped around the library is a set of rules, and frankly there were a Lot of rule fliers around the library.]

RULES
1. Bring your own food and games! The more fun the better!
2. Stay as long as you want! We can make it a sleepover!
3. ABSOLUTELY NO MURDERING
4. Have fun! 💗💗💗💗💗

[Luckily for those who are aware of the cartoon, the party doesn't seem nearly as micromanaged as it could have been ~~mostly because this party is more in a desperate attempt to keep everyone alive than anything else~~ so have as much fun as you can before tomorrow!]

[This is the Balladeer's second (or maybe third?) ever party, but he's already decided that he enjoys parties! Especially one on Thursday night; it seems like a good idea to all stay together the night before that threat is meant to expire. Not that he thinks anyone might do anything...but, you know. Better safe than sorry, isn't it?

He hasn't had much luck with cooking on his own thus far, but he's got a chocolate strawberry pie from the vending machine, so he'll bring that along. He'll also push the piano in! You may...find him in the halls pushing the piano, actually. That's sort of a distance to get it. It's hard to navigate the doors by himself. But he's gotten this far! He's gonna make it!

Once there, you can find him sitting at the piano, noodling around. He's not playing much of anything in particular at this moment.]

Anyone got any requests? I know a lot of songs!

[Granted, they are mostly showtunes and older songs!]

[Did somebody say piano? Here's Varian, he's a piano guy. He pulls up a chair so he can sit nearby and listen, situating himself on it backwards because that's how teens do.]

What's the most old timey song you can think of to play? Do that.

[Well. I mean. He immediately just starts playing this.]

I know older songs, but people always seem to play this for "old-timey music". It's only from the turn of the century.

Oh! Now that sounds fun.

[It's not one he's heard of course, but it's a very catchy, upbeat melody. Perfect for a party like this one, he thinks.]

I hope it wasn't, uh...too hard to get the piano here, by the way.

It was...fine. Don't know that I'm gonna take it back tonight. It's kinda heavy even with wheels.

Eh, I don't think anybody's going to be bothered if it stays here a while. It can live in the library too, it's fine.

Is that one hard to learn to play?

[Not the piano itself, but the song.]

Not really. But I've never had much trouble learning music. The whole point of me existing is to play music, right?

[Varian huffs a laugh at that, leaning lightly against the piano.]

Right. Does that mean you can play any instrument?

Ha, no. I tried that the first day here. I'm good with strings, but anything else?

[He shrugs, smiling.]

I'm horrible on a brass instrument. Any brass instrument.

Oh well in that case, I'm surprised I didn't hear it!

[Poor B and his failed doot doots...]

I'd give it a try, but I don't think I've got the lungs for it.

I bet you could, if you practiced! Pretty sure you just develop your lung capacity, you know?

You think so? So would it be smarter to start with something small, or just...go all in?

I'd practice on whatever instrument you want to learn! Maybe just take it slower on something big? It's probably about the same thing.
