Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

[ Orpheus isn't really sure what to make of that hesitation before saying 'a friend,' so he chooses to just take it at face value. ]

Well this is - um. Nice? [ Maybe not that last panel so much? He's trying to be generous, here. He looks at the purple blob flopped on her back and sighs. ] I guess our friends have probably noticed we're missing, by now.

Some of them, at least. Well, one of them, in my case, I'm not sure my other pals are really holding out for a call from me anytime soon.

[He just leans against the wall, looking at his work with a smirk.]

But I'm certain Twilight will appreciate me keeping her in my thoughts.

[ That's sort of sad, maybe? Orpheus gives him a mildly concerned look. ]

Are you not in touch with the other ones as often? [ he asks, before turning his attention back to the mural. ] And this is Twilight, then? Who's Princess Celestia?

Not so much, no. Not that I mind, they're really not my favorites anyway. [His friends come in two categories. Fluttershy and Not Fluttershy. Also known as inferior.] Oh, Celestia and I go way back. I terrorized the kingdom, she turned me to stone, oh, we're just a couple of old pals, really.

[ Orpheus just nods, because that sounds reasonable. Ruler of the land sealing a chaos god in stone, that's something that could happen. ]

I'm guessing someone let you out, though? Unless you were stone until you got here.

Well, the first time I sort of let myself out. Magic is very particular, I got an opening, I took it. The second time, though, yes, I was let out.

And now I have a guarantee that the same thing won't happen again, so it's a pretty good time to be me.

Oh, good. Is it because you stopped terrorizing the land? I feel like it would be hard to make friends or convince the Princess to stop turning you into stone if you hadn't.

Well, she can't turn me into stone again. And the ones who can, well, I have someone's word that she'll never do that, but.

I suppose I did promise to stop doing that, yes.

I'm really glad to hear that! Both that you won't be turned to stone again and that you're not terrorizing everyone anymore. But what changed your mind?

[ In Orpheus's experience gods tend to be pretty stubborn about their respective vices. ]

If I broke my promise, I'd disappoint my friend and... well. I'd prefer not... to do that.

[oh this feels weird, weird, weird to say.]

[ Orpheus just beams even brighter at him. ]

It's good that you found someone whose friendship is so worthwhile to you, then! I know it can be hard, changing your behavior for someone else. But it can be a really good thing, sometimes!

[he crosses his arms, feeling a little defensive. don't say it like that ughhhhhh!]

I don't intend to change too much, I am still chaos incarnate.

Of course! You still have a job to do. [ Chaos is an important aspect of the universe and Orpheus can respect that. ] But sometimes it's good to do and see things a little differently, and getting to know new people is good for that.

Well, I did know her before. Though it wasn't really the have fun and chat sort of meeting, exactly, I suppose.

Hmm? What kind of meeting was it, then?

[ Orpheus pauses, putting two and two together. ]

Ohhh, she's the one who promised not to turn you to stone, isn't she? Because she's one of the ones who can do it now that the Princess can't anymore.

She is, yes. When we first met, well, I trapped her in a maze, but. Bygones and all.

[How else does anyone meet new friends, really.]

I was just intending to trick her into guaranteeing my freedom. It just happens that we actually did become friends.

I'm really happy for you, though! Freedom's important by itself, but now you've got someone to spend it with, too. It sounds like she matters a lot to you, even if you did trap her in that maze originally.

Oh, I mean... A lot, well, that's...

...Maybe not... inaccurate, I suppose.

[stop! stop! he's already called out!]

[ Orpheus just keeps smiling away, cheerfully oblivious to Discord's discomfort. ]

Well, We'll figure out a way to get you back to her and your other friends soon, I'm sure of it.

Yes, well, the second my magic is as it should be again, all that should be no trouble whatsoever...

And you'll still help us get back to our homes, if we help you, right?

[ Right?? ]

Maybe you could introduce us to them, on the way! Maestro Salieri and I were talking about finding a way to visit each other, after this is all over. I don't know if that's something you'd be willing to help with, but I've never gotten to travel much? So I'd love to have the chance to see other worlds entirely.

What's it like? Where you come from.

Yes, yes, once that happens, I'll make sure to put everyone right where they belong and all that. But we'll have to see about me playing dimensional taxi.

[He has stuff to do, gosh!]

Oh, colorful, pastel, lots of rainbows and all that. Much more saccharine than this place.

That's understandable. [ Gods are busy! He gets it. ] It sounds nice, though. Are there a lot of flowers, then?

[ Because that's what he thinks when he hears colorful and pastel. Especially since rainbows imply actual rain, and not constant whipping back and forth between blizzards and droughts. ]

Oh, tons, yes. All very green and colorful.

I've tried making things even more colorful, of course, but people get so upset when you change a few roads and laws of physics around.

You can change the laws of physics, too?

[ He's... pretty sure not even Zeus can do that, though after taking a second to think about it maybe it's just more that his gods don't do that because it would cause more problems than it's worth, than because they can't. Still! ]

That's probably more confusing than most people are ready for though, yes. But I'm sure it's beautiful there. There isn't a lot of plant life where I come from.
