Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

[ The look in Peregrine's eyes isn't that of the self-assured teenager she's been presenting. She simply shakes her head.

She doesn't know. ]

[ It's tempting to just leave. Run off, find some secluded corner with Eurydice and talk this over with her, and leave everyone else to figure it out. But Peregrine is his friend, and she seems so worried -

He turns around and takes a step closer, asking, quietly; ]

Who is he, to you?

[ She hesitates a moment. ] He's...my mentor, my teacher, my...

...He's family. I'm— we're the only family he's got left.

[ Orpheus nods slowly, feeling the weight of it. This is twice now that Peregrine's been sent some terrible threat - not that all of them aren't also being threatened, but she seems to be taking it particularly hard. And what can he really say to that? ]

I'm sorry. If the Wizard - If he makes your mentor's home disappear - do you think he could find a new one? I know it would be hard, but...

[ What's the alternative? ]

[ Think. Think, Peregrine, don't panic. Howl wouldn't approve of that. She swallows very, very hard. ]

He... He could. Probably. But, it's... It's important, to him. [ She hadn't known. Not until she heard the tape— ] It's...something he has left...from someone he loved.

Oh.

[ That... makes it much harder. Orpheus tries to imagine losing Eurydice - like he hasn't been doing that over and over again for the past week - and then having his last remnants of her taken away. He swallows hard, shaking his head. ]

I don't - I'm sorry. We'll - we have to find some way out of this.

[ Prepare for the unexpected. But, what do you do when what's unexpected is unnatural? ]

We will. [ She repeats it, but it's a little uncertain. ] ...We have to.

[ Orpheus nods, and starts to reach out to put a hand on Peregrine's shoulder, but stops short as he hears Eurydice shout. Turning around, he sees her disappear out the door, and glances back at Peregrine. ]

I have to go. But we'll figure something out. We will.

[ And he goes, running after his wife. ]

Eurydice, wait!
