Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

[After cleaning the wound carefully, Maya places a strip of gauze over the the wound, then tapes it down with the athletic tape she'd been toying with. It should stay in place at least.]

[Also he's having a delayed reaction to Mumble because waking up and Mumble wasn't there somehow made it... real? Like. He knew it was real, but he was doing a real good job of disassociating about it until he woke up and saw Mumble's empty, perfectly made bed.]

[ Peregrine's going to find more clothes. She may have to finally start talking with Hester to get them cleaned. It's while she's chewing on this annoying thought that she sees Connor, just...standing there.

Damn, that sucks. [He pauses for a moment, breathing out.] Teenagers are assholes, huh? Including us, I guess, sitting here writing in this notebook.

[He writes down Larry Murphy: Dies of shame at an important board meeting and snorts.]

[ Peregrine's generally exploring when she comes across Farrah, downing some painkillers. ]

I'm just hung over. I'll be fine in a day. [She falls silent, hesitating, wondering if she should fill him in or not.]

You have any wild dreams last night?

[ She whistles. ]

Alright, so... do you know why this giraffe has chosen to host a reality show?

[He meant to just go in, look through the clothes. Get something new. Instead, his eyes catch on the table saw. Then the mechanical lift. Then a nail gun someone left out. It would be so easy to...

He doesn't know how long he's been standing there, trying to stop himself from having intrusive thoughts, when Peregrine touches his arm. It startles him and he looks over at her.]

[His eyes drift over to the rack on the wall where the spare saw blades are kept.]

I believe he wanted to find... Unique performances. To see a revue that produced shine like no other.

Trust me, I would not believe it if not for the circumstances. But I have fought in my first duel and know what the Giraffe refers to. I have seen my shine light up the stage like no other.

Psh. We're great. It's not like they didn't deserve to end up in that notebook. [It's probably real good that the Death Note isn't actually functioning, these two would wreck havoc in an instant.]

[If Maya's laughing, then so will Varian. It does sound ridiculous, but like...if people who think they're penguins and sponges exist, then why can't this be a thing?]

So like...how did you find out about it, though? Did he just walk up like "Hey, I'm Mr. Giraffe and I'll be hosting this contest"?

[He brings his other hand up to the side of his head, holding it there for a moment while he tries to keep his left as still as possible.]

Accidentally caught it on something working in the auto shop...guess I should've been a little more careful.

[He rubs the back of his neck with his good hand.]

No, nothing like that. He is very... secretive about this whole thing. He summoned me to his stage in the dead of night, while I was sleeping. And I awoke in my room as if nothing happened the next day.

[ Shine, huh? ]

Duel? Damn, I mean... if you're going to be good at dancing and swordfighting, I guess that's what you'd want to go for. [ A beat. ] It's not... to the death or anything, is it? Or do you just have to like... break a flower in their pocket or something?

Ugh, yeah, I slept super weird too.

[The knife goes away, back into a jacket pocket. LSP sits down, huffing a little and folding her arms. Like the whole murder thing isn't bad enough, they have to get dreams from it too.]

...I've got, like, a chocolate pie thing from the vending machines, you want it? Chocolate helps sometimes.

[Totally her own wisdom, not stolen from anyone else.]

I imagine there was a lot in there that you were unfamiliar with. [She gives him a scolding look.]

[And with that she goes to fill a glass of water.]

Lean back against the bed, with your head against the wall. You need to regain your senses before you start moving around.

[Farrah's chugging a water bottle at this point-- it's almost impressive. When she finishes, she squints at Peregrine, shrugging.]

I don't think they're just dreams. I... The photo? It was like a memory.

[Despite the firmness in her voice, though, she looks a little amused.]
