Week Three

[Last week, some shit went down! Salieri's scene went off without a hitch, but the good mood didn't last. The first motive was a bit of a doozy, and yet it didn't even have anything to do with the eventual accidental death of Mumble Happyfeet! At least Sissi was already pretty much dating Death anyway, right? She's probably fine, wherever she is.

This week, new menus have been posted in the cafeteria. But, more importantly, it seems that other new information has emerged. Everyone wakes on Sunday with some new memories - or are they old ones? - floating around in their heads. Maybe there was something to your discussions of time travel after all. Maybe there was someting to the Wizard's knowledge of the future.

Regardless, you're still stuck in here. At least there's some new places to explore this week. Maybe you'll find something helpful.]

Well, I did know her before. Though it wasn't really the have fun and chat sort of meeting, exactly, I suppose.

Oh! Then my friend from home performs Singspiels! We prefer songs based on folk tales with loud narrations to introduce each act.

The Hootsman's voice is one that cannot be matched! [And very unique, if you've never heard metal growling.]

I had none for millennia and it was just fine with me. It's never exactly bothered me.

Hmm? What kind of meeting was it, then?

[ Orpheus pauses, putting two and two together. ]

Ohhh, she's the one who promised not to turn you to stone, isn't she? Because she's one of the ones who can do it now that the Princess can't anymore.

[Ah--that certainly is a lot of questions. He has to admit, he's a little surprised, but...he's not one to turn down an inquisitive mind. He scoots over a bit on the piano bench and pats the seat next to him]

I started this when I was but a boy. My elder brother taught me violin, and I started composing small things then. I didn't really deeply study it until I was taken in from the Monestary, and from there it became my vocation. Learning to compose for many instruments was part of my training, as was starting to learn which instruments went best with others.

As for choosing which ones to use, it depends on what I'm writing for. There are many different types of ensembles--that is, groups of instruments--that are used for a variety of pieces. If we're speaking of opera, that is usually played by a full orchestra. However, there are also Quintets, quartets, trios--[he's just gonna go on and explain to her a TON about instrumentation for as long as she's willing to listen, quite frankly. This is his passion, so he's more than happy to talk about it]

Right? I don't really understand what's going on here with time and different worlds, but there are definitely a lot of scientists and chemists and engineers where I come from, and they're all really well respected and important for keeping society running.

[ Orpheus pauses, thinking. ]

I mean, it's also kind of complicated, because we've gotten to the point where machines can do a lot of the jobs that people can do, but faster, and better, and you'd think that would be a good thing? Because then people would be free to do as they wanted. But mostly it's meant their bosses replace them and they don't have a way to make money anymore.

[ Another pause, as Orpheus realizes that was a HUGE DOWNER. ]

But that's not the engineers' and inventors' faults! It's just, um. You know. [ He waves a hand, vaguely. Industrialization!! ]

[mayavericks]

That would be predictable, wouldn't it? I have to make sure one of us is interesting, after all.

[Salieri pauses at the hand on his arm, listening--before he's reaching up to cover her hand with his own, giving her a nod]

I will.

Oh my god! You guys have robots? I thought you were from a medieval fantasy type world.

[Good save, Elle doesn't seem to have noticed anything.]

he would be maybe making a snarky comment, but after Mime Club, he's frustratingly mute. So instead, he'll just look amused, watching him down the apple.

Hmm...he should probably get this ball of fluff back to Varian, shouldn't he? Salieri considers what's left on his plate while he scratches Ruddiger behind the ears, waiting for him to finish that apple]
