Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

No, I haven't thought of one!

[Though he's thought about giving it one at all.]

I think I'm finding that I'm not too used to being creative.

If you were an actor, I would be concerned, but even I struggle to bestow names onto beings. Epithets are a different matter.

[Looking down at the lizard.]

Lizard! Steed of the Narrator!

[tellthestory]

[The Balladeer laughs.]

What, is he gonna grow up into a dragon?

[mcfife]

[Angus chuckles.] I don't think "pet" sounds mighty enough. How else would you describe him?

[tellthestory]

I don't know. ["Pet" was all he had, really, but...he thinks for a moment.] Familiar?

[mcfife]

Familiar! Of course, what all wizards need! A Wizard's Lizard!

[He crouches to watch the lizard.]

O, small and green being, trusted companion, familiar to the narration wizard, The Balladeer.

Oh...

[He's not that sure how comfortable he is with being called a wizard, given current circumstances, but.....okay.......]

Yeah, I'm not really that sure what it eats. Vegetables, maybe?

[mcfife]

Bugs.

[...]

Which I have not seen at all so far.

Can...you substitute meat for bugs? Like...chicken?

[mcfife]

I think. Minced meat? They can eat that.

...yeah, I can make that.

[He has never cooked meat even one time in his life.]

I gave him some water too. I guess later I'll...put him in the sun? [is this like having a plant]

Lizards love heat. They're like young dragons in that way.

[But this is not a baby dragon, so that's not relevant.]

God, it'd be cool if these were baby dragons.

[Tad Cooper, where art thou]

We could do a lot more to fight the Wizard if we had dragons. Imagine if we each had a steed...

[Ah, but there are no epic battles to be fought.]

Can you train a lizard to fight?

I...doubt it.

[But he's also visibly unsure!]

Maybe if it were poisonous?

[mcfife]

Some may shoot blood out of their eyes. [Glancing at the lizard vibing on the table.] This is likely not one of those species.

What do they do that for?

[mcfife]

To strike fear in their enemies, obviously. Would that not deter the weak-hearted?

Yeah, I'm feeling a little deterred. You don't do that, do you, buddy?

[The lizard continues sitting there like a lizard.]

For moral support, we shall keep them. In a desolate time as this, we need all sources of hope we can find.

[He smiles at the lizard.]

Perhaps our sigil shall be of your face.

[tellthestory]

Ha! We could paint lizards on everything, that'd be fun. Prettier than that weird groundhog.

[mcfife]

Lizards versus the groundhogs, the battle of our lives!

[And they need a war song for themselves, the:]

[Haha, wow, okay! The Balladeer chuckles a little in surprise. This is absolutely not his style of music whatsoever, but Angus is just so earnest about it; he'd feel bad not even attempting to participate!]

Through the machine they travelled!
Into the school they creep!
The lizards are slowly invading!
To join the coming battle,
To finish the story,
To defeat the Wizard and end everything well!
