Week Two
[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!
Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]
Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday
(( No new locations this week, since y'all haven't paid in blood! Hester's office hours are still open, as are regains! Make sure to complete your first activity check by Tuesday! ))

[Varian grins, rubbing the back of his neck.]
Your performance was great. I still can't believe you were able to get it all organized so quickly!

[It's encouraging, especially for the possibility of getting out of here.]
Maybe we can do something like this again sometime.

[There's a pause, as he corrects himself.]
Well, the stuff I can do by ear is a little more...jaunty than what you'd hear for a stageplay I guess, but I can read sheet music just fine.

I'd love to hear you play sometime.

[They live firmly within their means, not trying to stray too far outside of them.]

Out of curiosity...how well do you know that Princess Rapunzel you spoke of?
no subject
[So not...AS well as he could. He didn't grow up in the Kingdom directly, and they weren't childhood friends...not that Rapunzel hasn't already firmly slotted herself in as one of those, for Varian.]
She'd heard from Cassandra that there was an alchemist living outside of the walls- that's me- and she assumed I'd be able to help her with her hair situation.

I imagine she was rather grateful for your help.

[He sighs, rubbing the back of his neck.]
Not that it matters right now, I guess.

However, there are a few with magic here, are there not? Have you spoken to them about it? It could certainly be a way to take up time.
no subject
[He shrugs one shoulder.]
Apparently their magic is a lot rarer than ours. It isn't something that just manifests out of nowhere.

He also has quite a history with magic, what with his whole Lord of Chaos [yeah, no he can't quite help the sarcasm] bit.
no subject
[...you know, Salieri makes a good point.]
Well...this magic seems pretty unpredictable and chaotic. He might actually know more than anyone else would, now that you say that.
no subject
I suppose as long as you don't frame it as him helping...
no subject
Riight, right...instead I need to say, I'm priveleged to be receiving his advice, or something like that. Right?
no subject
Something along those lines would be effective, yes. [he arches an eyebrow] Frame it as a puzzle that you yourself cannot solve--talk about it around him, but let him get interested in it himself.
