Week Two

[Last week, no murder happened! Instead, a lot of students started work on Salieri's school play, which sounds pretty cool even though it's gonna be short, several people destroyed Bigfoot and got a few mysterious clues, and Orpheus started a fire in the kitchen! All in all, not a bad first week!

Though some people might have gone to talk to Hester, she hasn't made any more public announcements. There's some new papers posted up around the cafeteria, but it looks like it's just your upcoming lunch schedule. Seems like nothing's driving you towards Rule Five except, perhaps, all of the kidnapping and how criminally boring some of you are finding the school. Maybe the Balladeer is right, and you really can just wait this out? Only time will tell!]

Sunday | Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday

(( No new locations this week, since y'all haven't paid in blood! Hester's office hours are still open, as are regains! Make sure to complete your first activity check by Tuesday! ))

[The Balladeer leans over to see the picture and nods.]

I know there's one out in the lobby, too. Farrah and I were laying on the ground there the other day. But honestly, I'd assume Hester or the Wizard know most of what everyone's doing with or without them.

[Comforting!]

[ Eurydice does not look remotely comforted by this!!!! ]

...why do you say that? They're not even out here with us. I've never seen the Wizard.

Well, if he's supposed to be our narrator, it's his business to know anything important. Not that he seems to be doing a ton of narrating - but then, we haven't seen him.

[ HMMM ]

So, when he made the school shake after that girl threw the knife...was that narrating?

Not really a traditional approach, but I guess you could do it, if you had that kind of place in the narrative. Just - "and then the school quaked with his wrath."

[He makes spooky wiggly fingers and says it in a funny voice.]

[ Eurydice's expression remains flat in the face of wiggly fingers. Tough crowd. ]

So, can Narrators just do anything they want?

[ Sounds like some terrible horrible god content! ]

Nah, not really. You gotta fit your narrative. Like me - I wasn't supposed to do much of anything to directly affect things, so I didn't. But if the Wizard's taking a more active role...

[Shrug. Who knows!]

[ This is really interesting!! Eurydice makes a couple notes, and then: ]

So...different stories, different powers? Can you tell what type of story this is supposed to be?

[ hopefully not a sad song.... not a tragedy.... ]

Honestly, if I had to guess? Probably a murder mystery. [Realizing that was dark, he's quick to add:] But I can't see the script, so I don't know that there's anything holding us to that!

[ Eurydice doesn't seem put off by the murder mystery comment. If anything, she looks almost eager. ]

Great idea. We've got at least two composers here. Maybe there's a way to...I don't know, write ourselves into a better situation. [ Hopefully one with less murder.

As soon as she says that, though, Eurydice's smile drops, and she realizes that's stupid. ]

Or not. That's ridiculous, forget I said anything.

[The Balladeer chuckles, though not unkindly.]

Oh, I don't know. I bet the Player could do it, if she were here. She's like me, but...more, a lot more.

[ Eurydice shrugs. ]

Too bad she's not. Although honestly, as long as no one touches that last rule, I don't think this place is that bad. I just don't like being watched.

[ But the regular food and real bed?? That's super nice. ]

It really isn't. A little unstructured, but that's actually sort of fun.
