Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

Not really, just couldn't imagine what it was for. Looks almost like a shaving parlor, just without the furniture.

Of course, anyplace could look like a shaving parlor to a barber. 'When you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail,' and all that.

Huh. I guess I could see that.

[Larry Murphy is pretentious enough to only go to a barber in TYOOL 2018, which is the only reason Connor even knows what that means.]

Maya could probably demonstrate, but the bar there? It's usually for ballet.

Oohh, for ballet, is it? Always seemed a bit too...continental [Inaccessible. Unaffordable. Snobby.] for my taste, but I've got nothing but respect for the dancers.

I'm certainly not made to move like that. [He chuckles.] Like a rhinoceros walkin' on his tip toes.

Yeah, that'd be why I didn't try to demonstrate for you. I know my limits and they're "I'm an uncoordinated baby deer."

[He's flexible, but deeply not very coordinated.]

[Benjamin chuckles.]

No harm in that, you're still a growing boy. It's to be expected for you to be a little bit coltish.

What is that you're doing, if I may ask?

Yoga. I learned it in one of the workshops Cynthia made me go to. It's supposed to, like, center you and shit.

[barberic]

Center you? Center where?

[It looked a little like fancy stretching, when he walked in.]

Mentally. Like, calm your emotions and make you level-headed.

[This was part of "do yoga so you won't be depressed, Connor."]

[barberic]

Ohh. A useful skill, in that case. Perhaps you could teach a little to the rest of us.

Elle's probably more qualified, seeing as I totally biffed it earlier when she tried to correct me. [He snorts.] I could be her hot assistant, though.

[barberic]

That sounds like a wonderful idea. A way for us all to come together - and I'm sure it will be quite entertaining to watch, as well.

[He has never had to put his flexibility to the test before, but expects it will be...lacking.]

[yourattention]

Yeah. [He laughs.] Everyone sucks at yoga until your muscles get the hang of it so I'm sure someone will fuck up worse than I did this morning.

[barberic]

Then at least most of us will "suck" together.

[He can learn slang from the whippersnappers.]

You gotta say it with conviction. Suck. This fucking sucks.

[He laughs.]

Your language sucks. How's that, lad?

Rude AF, love it. [That's pronounced a-eff.] Can't believe this is my only form of entertainment in this place, teaching old people slang.

[Connor has teenager disease and everyone over 25 is old.]

[barberic]

[He remembers being a teen boy, and therefore being a grown man with a wife and a career, he can certainly concede that to a boy he seems 'old.' So rather than rankle at that, he goes for a good-humored warning.]

Careful, boy. One day you'll be the old man who has no idea what the children are saying.

It's okay, I'm planning on dying way before I get to that point.

[He seems deeply unconcerned by the statement he's just made.]

[barberic]

[That is a deeply concerning statement, though. Benjamin's brow furrows in worry, but he's aware he doesn't know the boy from Adam - he hardly has any right to lecture him.

Still, although he tries to keep a light tone, it's hard for him to not sound concerned. What happens is that a solid beat of silence passes, while he schools the initial flash of shock and horror off of his face.]

That's a shame. I've found there's much more to like about being an adult.
