[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

Uh...I've never thought about it before.

[He looks down at himself. It's not like he's ever had to think about it. Overall, he doesn't really make that many decisions for himself.]

I like it fine. But I wouldn't mind trying something new, either?

Okay, so we'll try a few things. Fabric or fit preferences?

[She's already pulled a couple of items out and drapped them over her arms.]

...I don't know.

[He seems to realize, even as he says it, that it's not...usual. Or just not helpful. The Balladeer falters a little.]

I - nothing too elaborate, I guess?

Simple, but a range of fits, got'cha.

[She hands him a simple grey outfit.]

We'll start with something basic.

[I can't believe you're doing this]

Okay. [....] Did you...want me to...?

[Gesturing at the little changing room in the back.]

Yep! [She nods and makes a 'go on' motion with her hands.]

[That makes sense! Off he goes. When he returns, he's adjusting the neck of the sweater a little.]

I feel like I'm about to be in a very serious one-act play. [He spreads his arms.] How does it look?

A little like you're going to read me some of your slam poetry at a party, but you won't be upset if I make up an excuse to leave before you finish.

[Whatever that means!]

[The Balladeer laughs.]

Oh, I could be in Rent! [no those people would be upset] This is fun!

It is! How do you feel in it? You have to like it, or it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

[He does a little spin, looking down at himself.]

I've never gotten to pick out my own clothes before. I'm not even sure! I'll hang onto it, though!

Awesome! Let's try something a bit different then.

[She hands him a different shirt and a belt.]

[He takes them and goes to change! Coming out again, he peers down at himself. It's all rather pale...]

Is this shirt a little bit see-through, or is that just me?

Hm, yeah. [She taps her chin thoughtfully.]

You could either work it, or we could find an undershirt.

[Elle delves into a trunk of shirts.]

This is so much fun. I wish we had, like, a real department store to go to.

That could be fun! Not that I have any money, anyway.

[He'll check a different trunk! Seems like there's a lot of vests in this one - he holds one up.]

They must've done a few period pieces. Honestly, I'm surprised so much of this is modern - high schools do lots of older plays, don't they?

Oh, you wouldn't have to buy it! It'd be my gift.

[She likes shopping, but her closet only has so much room. Shopping for other people is like a double perk: she gets to shop and also make someone else happy!]

Maybe they did the old stuff with a more modern twist? It'd be easier on the costuming budget, especially if not a lot of the kids knew how to sew.

Oh, that's always fun! Works great with Shakespeare.

[He...isn't sure if he's a vest guy? This one's sort of old-fashioned looking anyway, in a way that puts the Balladeer unpleasantly in mind of Booth; he sets it back down and returns to the pile.]

You...really wouldn't have to do that. I mean, I only had the one outfit, before this. It'd be a lot of money. [But this is all hypothetical, so he's not as visibly uncomfortable with it as with other acts of kindness he's been shown.] I used to try to find ways to mix it up. Take off my jacket for my second scene, maybe roll up my sleeves. I thought it'd be more visually interesting. No clue if it worked.

Wardrobe versatility is very important! I'm sure it looked great. Oh, here we go!

[She pulls out a grey pinstripe vest and hands it to him.]

It may be a little big, but it will work until we can find you that undershirt.

Oh! People still wear them?

[He believes her, though, he takes it and slips it on readily enough. Huh! It looks good, and not really like it's from the 19th century at all!]

I actually like this!

Yeah! A good vest is a staple in any wardrobe!

[Elle claps]

Awesome! You look great. You can even throw that over a long-sleeve t-shirt for a bit more casual look.

Really? I wouldn't have thought to do that.

[He grabs a random nearby t-shirt and holds it up to the vest.]

And it's more casual because...no buttons?

They originated with workers in the early 1900's, so it's mostly casual because of it's origins. The lack of buttons is part of it as well.

[What? She does have a 4.0 in fashion merchandising.]

[The Balladeer blinks.]

Oh, that's interesting. Wonder why Leon doesn't wear one? [...] He's a worker from the early 1900s I know. Early-early, though. Like, 1901.
