Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

[Connor works without explaining any of what he's doing without saying much about it other than absently naming the ingredient he's currently using. Tomato sauce. Cheese. When he's about to add pepperoni, he answers her question instead:]

Boy Scouts. [A beat.] It's like a, uh, program? To teach kids life skills, I guess.

[He didn't really want to be in Boy Scouts, but Larry insisted and Connor thought it was easier to just play along. Well, to a certain extent. The badges he got weren't the ones he should have gotten.]

[ Oh, Eurydice has vaguely heard of that. She's never been certain what the point of it was, though. If this is what "life skills" are, it sounds like a pretty decent organization. ]

What else did you learn?

[ Making pizza seems useful. Maybe this guy knows some other decent tricks. For once, Eurydice actually sounds interested, and not generally wary. ]

I learned how to sail a boat and how to identify different forest lichen.

[These are on opposite ends of the usefuless spectrum, maybe.]

There's a bunch of different things they'll teach you, though. I just picked stuff I thought would make my father angry.

[ Eurydice lives in a landscape that is more or less entirely desert. Thanks, Dustbowl! Unfortunately, none of these skills are especially useful to her, but she nods respectfully all the same. ]

Did it work?

[ Eurydice honestly can't imagine a father who would be angry at his kid knowing different species of forest mushrooms or whatever. But honestly, she has a hard time picturing her father at all. ]

I learned how cook, do art, make pottery, and weave. Larry hated all of it.

[Sometimes, you simply choose not to participate in your father's toxic masculinity.]

[ Eurydice wrinkles her nose. ]

Your father's an idiot. [ Said bluntly, like that's a completely regular thing to say to someone you just met. ] Most of that's useful. Honestly, I'd probably be better off during the winter if I could weave.

[ Eurydice knows basic sewing, but not full-blown weaving. ]

Yeah, but it's girl's work. [He rolls his eyes as he throws on the last few pepperoni.] Anyway, you're right. He's a fucking moron. You can put whatever you want on pizza, by the way, pepperoni's just kind of... traditional? I guess? I figured everyone would like it.

[He carefully shoves a cookie sheet under the pizza and then sticks it in the oven.]

[ Eurydice rolls her eyes as well. Gods, how does a man live to be a father with an outlook like that? ]

The pepperoni is good. What do you like on your pizza?

[ Since he seems to have pretty good taste. ]

Honestly? I'm into BBQ chicken pizza. Pepperoni's fine, but I definitely like sauces other than marinara better.

[Not that it's bad, he just likes other things better.]
