Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

One would think they could at least provide us with a stiff drink, considering what we're being subjected to. [dryly, but with a hint of humor]

Indeed. I almost wish to be with my parents. Maybe they'd let me have a drink from my cousin's brewery...

[She wiped her nose.]

...and then they'd be shocked when they saw me. "Sissi, you've only been married a day! How you've aged so!"

[A little sob comes from her at that.]

Sorry. I...It's still quite the shock. Even the picture I glanced at in the book...I still looked...like me, you know? But grander.

[oh no, that sob :( Salieri tightens his grip to support her a bit more]

No need to apologize, madame. Everything that has happened so far has been quite shocking, it's only natural to react to such a thing. [ah, the Yearbook...the thing he's read about a dozen times over and over. It takes half a moment to place her face, because she certainly does look different, but...]

...if I may, would you prefer Madame or Your Highness? [because lol Empress of Austria, he remembers staring at that for quite a while, completely perplexed.]

Madame works. We're certainly not in Vienna, so...

[Well, she hopes not, because they she has So Many Questions.]

I'll be honest, I don't know where the dress is from. It's not my wedding dress, and I...I'd certainly think I'd remember...something like that...? Wouldn't you?

[A pause, then she smiles.]

If you were to wear something that level of fancy, I mean.

This is certainly not Vienna. [a bit dryly] At least, not a Vienna that I'm familiar with. As for the dress...I believe I would certainly remember wearing such finery. It was quite a beautiful garment, surely befitting of an Empress.

[oh, look at that, they're at the Cafeteria. Salieri is just going to lead Sisi over to one of the tables and help her sit down, making sure her hair doesn't get in the way.]

Yes, all right.

[And so she sits, wincing at the pain of the chair. She'd never felt pain there before, not even when she rode hard on her horses. Another sign, then, that she was truly as old as she looked.

That, or the seats were just awful.

She keeps scooting around with a frown because what are these seats made of.]

[the word "tea" may have been forgotten before, but not this time as Salieri returns with two steaming cups of black tea on a small tray he's found, along with cream and sugar. He'll just set that down on the cafeteria table, before taking a seat next to her]

I cannot say that the quality of tea here is the best I've had, but it is certainly passable for the time being. [he'll just lift her cup off of the tray and set it in front of her, before repeating with his own]

Unfortunately, my search turned up zero lager. Though, I did find a couple jars of honey, which perhaps could be converted into mead within a few weeks.

[She takes the tea gratefully, along with the cream.]

Do be warned, though, these seats are...quite a struggle.

[Salieri shifts a bit in his chair at that]

Yes...they're rather unfortunate. I cannot fathom their purpose, after all, what is the harm in having actual comfortable chairs to sit on?

It would be nice to have something soft, yes.

[She looks into her tea.]

But...we were effectively kidnapped, weren't we? Maybe this Wizard doesn't want us to be comfortable, then...?

[violentenvies]

I suppose not...considering the state of the beds in the dorm rooms. [dryly. He frowns a little, though, and after a moment, sets his tea aside and shrugs off his jacket, folding it a couple times until it forms a loose square]

If you would stand a moment, madame...?

Mm?

[She does so, taking a tip of her tea before she does. What is he doing?]

[he'll settle that makeshift-cushion on the chair for her to sit onto, balancing it there]

There. It's not much, but I hope it will help at least a little.

I ought to do likewise for you-

[She will take her own jacket off. He shouldn't suffer either!]

[alsdhkfs to be honest, Salieri didn't see that coming. So he's rather startled when she does so]

Ah, Madame, you don't have to--

That is, I wouldn't want you to get cold.

I promise, I won't be. In any case, I'd rather we both be comfortable, anyways, if we have to see in these things.

[She starts folding, making a cushion of her own jacket.]

Here you are...!

In that case, I thank you for your kindness, Madame. [and he will accept her jacket-cushion, standing slightly so it can be properly set on the chair, before sitting back down.

At least, I would hope so, right?

Indeed. I would hope so as well. A little kindness goes a very long way, I think.

Absolutely! That the world would be so much better if people just learned to be kind to one another.

[She sips her tea.]

I like to think that people have started to learn that lesson, especially after all the things that have happened back home.

[Ah, to still be mentally 17.]

[Salieri blinks at that] Oh? I'm sorry, I'm afraid I'm not exactly aware....what has happened?

Oh...well, revolutions have happened, monsieur.

[Quickly adding:]

But-they seem to have all turned out for the best this time, at least! Everyone's much happier now that things have been properly fixed!

[violentenvies]

Revolutions? [that's a little surprising...and also a bit unsettling. But Sisi's reassurance calms his worry a bit]

In that case, I'm glad to hear that things have been sorted. Might I ask...what exactly happened?

Well...there were a lot of problems in Europe, and the people ended up blaming their kings. There was a lot of anger about inequality...

[She frowned.]

Even my uncle was in trouble. My uncle is-well, he was the king of Bavaria. He's not anymore, my cousin Max is in charge now. That was definitely the main problem, it turned out! I mean...not my uncle. It was with many of the kings and emperors ruling, they weren't being effective governors.

It was...frightening, but unlike what happened with the French the first time, everything was resolved much more peacefully. All the kings being challenged stepped down to let other family members rule as part of the compromise, and everyone seems to be much happier for it. Even the French decided to become a kingdom again!

[and they all lived happily ever after]
