Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

[Discord is just sitting in one of the seats in the choir room. He was mostly just going to chill here, but someone's performing. So he pauses. Looks over. And... this sure is going to keep going, huh?

In that case, he'll just take a piece of paper and start taking notes.]

Well, someone's certainly shooting to change their title to Best Overachiever.

[Maya shoots the man a look. There's a faint flicker of annoyance, but it passes quickly enough. She finishes the verse she's on, before resting a hand on her hip and turning her full attention to her guest.]

I see nothing wrong with maintaining my routine, even away from home. I refuse to grow complacent.

[disharmonizes]

How admirable.

[Definitely not said as if it's praise. She's all diligent, how dull.]

I suppose you'll do great with the whole school part of this. [He'll flip his paper around, a big B+ drawn on it.] Maybe you can give our delightful host some help with whatever her next performance will be.

[mayavericks]

[That manages to make Maya frown. She studies the grade with something close to a scowl.]

I take it you are not fond of formal education? Nor duty, it would seem.

Oh, certainly not! Both of those are much too restricting and boring.

[And he just tears the paper with the grade in half, haphazardly throwing the pieces in the air.]

It's much more rewarding doing things your own way, without being stuck in limited systems like those. If it weren't for our current predicament, I wouldn't be caught dead in a place like this!

I think that's true for all of us. [At least the murderschool part.]

In any case, I think there is merit to what you are saying. There is nothing wrong with going your own way. But it's important to know the rules before you break them, wouldn't you say?

Ugh, I suppose it does make it more fun to toss the game board away if I know it's there first, but really, it's such a hassle.

Much more fun to skip right to the breaking stage.

It seems boring, is all. Predictable.

Of course. It's like performing the same play again and again. If you follow all the same stage directions, hit your notes like your predecessor, you bring nothing new to the table. No one has any reason to pay attention to you.

[She hums to herself as she turns her back, moving into her next routine. There's probably a mischievous twinkle in her eye, though.]

[He's not entirely sure if he's impressed or extremely pissed.]

[Even though her back is turned to him, it's pretty obvious that she smirks, considering her reflection in the mirror.]

So, are you going to continue to make commentary about my work? Or will you be joining me?

And he'll just wander over, leaning a little onto the piano.]

And since you're here, you can be my partner for these next steps. We were working on our waltzes before I was forcibly torn away from my home, you see.

Fine, at this point, why not. [This may as well happen.] Let's go ahead and get it over with, then.

Wonderful. I hope you don't mind that I'll be taking the lead, then.

[She holds one hand up, while motioning Discord closer with the other.]

Who am I to stand in the way of you having full control. Very well.

[This is the weirdest day, but he'll move closer. Waltzing. Right. Well, it's been a thousand years since he's danced anything of the sort, but on the other claw, he sure has seen plenty of ponies dancing in that time. Wrong number of legs, but it shouldn't be too hard to adjust. Probably.

...He's not thrilled about following someone else's lead, but that ship has clearly sailed.]

[Once she's certain he's settled, Maya coaxes Discord backward. It's a simple box step for now, at least.]

I do. I am enrolled in an academy for some of the best dancers in Japan.
