Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

(( OOC: This will be the last mod post for this week! Feel free to start submitting regains for any threads that aren't with Hester. Remember, song threads mean an extra coin! This is a peace week, so get all that CR while you can! ))

"Plug it...in?"

[He looks from the curling iron, to the outlet.]

It seems a bit small...doesn't it? Or does the heat travel from the wall up the iron in some way?

Right, you didn't have electricity.

[Elle comes over and points to the cord wrapped around the handle of the curling iron.]

You plug the metal part of the cord into those holes in the wall. Then you set the temperature with this little dial here [She points out the temperature knob on the side of the iron.]

You'll probably want it on the lowest setting, though. Pretty sure that's a synthetic wig so it'll melt pretty easy.

Melt? Good god.

[He unwraps the cord from the handle of the curling iron, and then hesitantly plugs it into the outlet that she indicated. He turns the knob down, and after a couple seconds tests it with a fingertip.]

That's... Well, it seems much safer than the way things are done back home.

[He gives her a smile.]

Thank you, lady Elle. Your help is invaluable as always.

Oh yeah, it's super well documented that the invention of the electric curling iron literally saved hundreds of lives.

[Elle grins. She loves being helpful!]

No problem! Thank you for working on the wigs for the play. That grey one looks so good.

It's my pleasure. I have some training with wigmaking and styling, but it's mostly out of fashion, so I'm glad that they're to your satisfaction.

[He takes a bit of the silver hair and begins to carefully wrap it around the iron, twisting it tightly up into a roll at the temple.]

Do you know what you're going to do for the costumes?

I was thinking just some simple tunics and togas. Something quick that they can throw over basic pieces we can find here.

That sounds like an excellent place to start.

[This is what happens when you have a pre-Victorian Brit and a modern American designing costumes for ancient greek characters.]

Let me know if you need any assistance. I'm hopeless at sewing, but I can be an extra pair of hands.
