[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

I don't think I could do something like that even if I wanted to. Is that what you use your magic for?

[ He sounds significantly less impressed than when he thought Discord was a performance artist. Orpheus isn't normally much one to question the gods to their faces, but jerking people around for fun is just openly cruel. ]

Sometimes. Other times it's just cotton candy clouds and chocolate milk rain.

Whatever I'm in the mood for, really. And in my defense, they chose to go into the maze. [As if he cares about defending himself here at all.] It's not like I forced anyone in.

[Tricked, yes, forced, no.]

[ Well that sounds kind of ridiculous, but not bad, at least? Maybe kind of unpleasant to clean up when all that milk starts to go sour, but still. Orpheus keeps on frowning in disapproval, though. ]

Did they get out of the maze okay, at least? [ he asks, sounding worried about this nebulous 'they' and still extremely unimpressed. ]

Yes, yes, they all got out, friendship prevailed, it was all very blah.

[He crosses his arms, getting annoyed.]

Good. [ says Orpheus, firmly and a little defiant. ]

I know it's not my place to tell a god what to do [ ~~but he's going to do exactly that anyway~~ ] but people and their relationships aren't playthings. No matter how powerful you are, you can't treat them like that.

[Honestly, Discord is more amused than anything else.]

Oh, no, I can. Very easily, in fact! Seriously, it was barely any effort at all.

[ Orpheus rankles a little at the condescension, ~~pouting~~ scowling in a way that surely conveys the seriousness of his displeasure. This kind of attitude from the gods is what he could never stand about some of the old stories, and being confronted with it in person has him speechless - so instead he sings. ]

Oh, please, like this is the first time I've had someone idealistic sing a song about how much they don't like me. [He's from Equestria, this is a regular thing.] Points for the nice melody.

[ Well, that was Orpheus's best effort, and he's not really sure what to do now, other than keep on scowling away. ]

There's nothing wrong with being an idealist. And none of us are going to get very far if we don't all work together, here.

I'm not much of a team player. I'm all the help I need.

[ Orpheus gives him a skeptical look. ]

Can you get out of here on your own?

[ Because it really doesn't seem like he's worked that out, yet. ]

We all will. But it'll be faster if we work together. [ he says, insistently. ]

You're not going to sing a song about teamwork next, are you? Because I'll really need some earplugs.

[ he was absolutely thinking about it ]

But it's true. Whatever's going on with your magic, maybe someone here can figure it out. Or maybe you know something that someone else can take advantage of. But if we all keep everything to ourselves, we'll probably just keep going in circles trying to break down the doors when we don't even know if this school exists in any of the worlds we came from.

Oh, it almost certainly doesn't. At least for most of us, what with the amount of dimensions we're all from.

...I kind of enjoy the going around in circles and breaking down doors part, though. I'm hoping next time someone uses a battering ram.

[ Orpheus actually lights up a little bit at that. ]

Right. If it were home for one of us, it wouldn't be for the rest. But you know about that kind of thing?

[ Everyone else Orpheus has talked to except the Balladeer has resisted the idea at least a little, and he's never heard the word 'dimensions' used like that before, which makes him think Discord might know something more than he does, at least. ]

Of course. I'm familiar with more dimensions than you could fathom exist out there. So everyone here being from different ones, well, that's nothing too exciting.

Right! And if you're that familiar with a bunch of different ones, would you know how to travel between them? If your magic was working, I mean.

With a snap of my fingers, yes. It's as easy as breathing.

And if we could get you your powers back, would you consider taking all of us back home? If it's that easy for you.

[ He sounds genuinely hopeful, and looks it too. Come on, Discord. Can you really say no to a face like this? ]

Aren't we optimistic! You really think you could bring them back, hmmm?

[That's not... a no. Or a yes.]

If we can find out what the Wizard did to you, we can find some way to reverse it, or trick them into undoing it, right? A lot of the others here are really clever, [ he's absolutely not counting himself in this ] I'm sure between all of us, we can figure something out.

I'm more relying on myself for this. But sure, you know what? If you all somehow find a way to get rid of this block on my powers, I can certainly use my magic to get some things done.

[ Orpheus nods. ]

We'll hold you to it!

[ How exactly, he's not sure, but he'll worry about that later. ]
