Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

Yeah. Though it's not like I've met humans before, either.

Oh, yeah. I've met plenty of humans here. I mean, all of you are. I've just never seen any before now. [Laugh.] Up until now, I thought you were all called aliens.

Aliens? [gosh so much terminology??? but he'll just...try and make note of this]

I can see why things might've gotten confusing, then. Having different names for the same things.

Try having to learn the names of everything else too. [Aha.] I've got a lot of catching up to do.

That does seem like quite a task, in addition to all the other strangeness I'm sure you've had to deal with.

[well...now he feels almost silly for startling so much] Ah...apologies for waking you up.

It's okay. [He shrugs casually.] You had the bigger shock than me.

[he's going to just push himself to his feet now] I should let you get back to sleep, I should think.

[He offers a not-flipper to help him up.]

[Oh, well, in that case, Salieri will accept the help, dusting himself off once he's on his feet]

In that case...would you like to join me for breakfast? I know Spongebob usually makes something rather extravagant, but I like to brew myself a cup of tea before any of that starts.

[Oh, to be invited to things! It's such a joy.]

I don't really know a whole lot about all of that stuff. I've just kind of eaten fish all my life.

Is that so? In that case, I must say that Spongebob's preparations are usually more than most people eat for breakfast, aside from the Monarchy, of course, but that's not to say that I'm not grateful.

[also, time to step out of the dorm and close the door behind them so they don't wake the other three. But hey, at least they can stop talking in whispers now.]

[Woo! Normal inside voices!]

Your monarchy? [He sounds curious, albeit concerned.] You all don't eat the same?

No, not precisely. The monarchy holds the divine right of power, so they are naturally better fed.

A divine right? I guess our elders have...something like that. They're the most in touch with The Great Guin and talk about its teachings and know when its angry, but even then - they still eat the same as us.

It all sounds...kinda unfair.

[violentenvies]

[he shrugs slightly at that] They also carry much of the responsibility of the entire kingdom, and for caring for everyone. Fair or not, it is how it is, and it as God commands.

But - that doesn't have to be how it is. Just because someone says it's right, doesn't mean it is.

Perhaps. But again, it is how it is. And as someone who depends on those particular patrons for my livelihood, openly disagreeing with such a thing would do me no favors.

[He's not really accepting this. This - 'it is how it is' thing. ]

I bet if one person said it - other people would say it too. Maybe all it needs is just that one.

Then another person is welcome to say it, if he so wishes. [a bit dryly] But I, for one, am not about to lose the position I worked so hard for for such a thing.
