[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

I've seen plenty, just... not like this. [All... well-kept. And shiny. Like, if the light weren't reflecting so well, she might see her reflection in the floor.] I'm more used to training yards than this fancy, indoors stuff.

[ Peregrine simply shakes her head. ]

It's fine. I've known people a lot worse. [ A little blunt, isn't she? ] When you say training yards. What do you mean, like, track and field? Or...is this gonna be another thing where we're talking about completely different things?

Ohh, good to know. [Is that sarcasm? Maybe. It seems to help, actually.] No, it's not for running races... usually. It's about practicing my fighting techniques.

[She takes a stance, waving her hand through the air, hand cupped as if she was holding a saber, cleaving through the air.]

Sword fighting, obstacle courses, archery. That sort of thing, you know?

Oh. You're more used to outdoor training. Okay. Yeah, me too, honestly. That's not the kind of thing they'd have at a school, though. Unfortunately.

[It's Cassandra's preferred method of communication. Thank goodness someone is fluent.]

Yup. Nothing better than the sun on your face and the wind in your hair. Especially when you're practicing your sword techniques.

Honestly? Nothing here is like what I remember school being like.

[ A deep breath as she continues stretching. ]

Okay. That doesn't sound like school for me. You learned how to wield a sword?

Among other things. But I like swords. [And knives. Halberds are fun too. So are bows.]

I've been training with my dad since I was six. When your dad's the captain of the guard, you tend to pick up on stuff like that.

[She smiles, genuinely. There's some happy memories behind that.]

And he let you? Your own dad?!

[ Oh she is so jealous right now. ]

Well, yeah. Because I've just got the right stuff.

And, it may or may not have been just some private lessons, as a start, so my dad knew I wouldn't chop my hand off if I had a sword.

[ Peregrine starts to frown. ]

Well. She definitely wouldn't let me do that, would start saying it's...something unacceptable, to take that kind of control.
