Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

(( OOC: This will be the last mod post for this week! Feel free to start submitting regains for any threads that aren't with Hester. Remember, song threads mean an extra coin! This is a peace week, so get all that CR while you can! ))

I know of the land of the Francs and Europa. [Russia sounds familiar, but it might not mean the same peoples.] I know of the Britons, if that is who you're referring to. They don't have anything that could be considered "great".

Francs and Europa...

[Huh.]

Austria is in the center of the continent, north of the lands of the Italian states. Its capital is Vienna-that's where my husband was born. I was born in Munich, in Bavaria.

Does...any of that also sound slightly familiar?

mcfife: (🔨 face-to-face?)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-06 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Bavaria are a group of people in central Europa, with a main city as Munich. There are many smaller kingdoms throughout the country, but in my time, Bavaria is the ruler of the city of Vienna.
wanderlusttitania: (keep walking)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-06 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I-

[Huh.]

Well, it's true, there are many German states. But were I come from, it is Austria that rules its empire from Vienna.
mcfife: (🦄 darkness enfolds)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-06 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
If you are indeed from Monsieur Salieri's timeline, it appears the smaller kingdoms have united to form larger kingdoms throughout Europa. First the Francs and now the Bavarians.

...It does make sense that they cooperate, if Fife is no longer as powerful as we are. [Maya recognized the name. What happened that Scotland isn't so big of a deal?] What of Fife and the surrounding kingdoms? What becomes of England?
wanderlusttitania: (so it's politics)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-07 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, England? They call themselves Great Britain, and are a part of the United Kingdom, which is ruled by Queen Victoria. They have an empire.

But yes, Monsieur Salieri is correct, though Bavaria is independent of any other country now.

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-08 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[AGAIN with England becoming an empire. What has happened to these universes that magic does not exist and and England is powerful?]

How odd, these timelines are. It would seem most of us come from a world similar to yours rather than mine.
wanderlusttitania: (so it's politics)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-08 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, they are not so different that I can't recognize any of the names...though, may I ask about what Fife is, in your world?
mcfife: (🦄 cross the mighty river Tay)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-08 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Fife is a kingdom, north of Engle-land. It covers the cities of Dundee, Crail, and Glasgow. It's a rather large area, compared to its southern neighbor.
wanderlusttitania: (ah)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-08 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
A kingdom north of-oh! Could you be...from Scotland?

[Oh, she is so silly! Why didn't she think of that?]
mcfife: blank (☀️so hail to you)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-08 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
...Yes, I believe so. [If the geography of their planets is roughly the same.] It is rather comforting that our worlds are somewhat alike. The timelines we were taken from have to be close in the space-time fabric.
wanderlusttitania: (her learning is appalling)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-08 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Space-time...fabric?

[wut]
mcfife: AMAZEMENT (☀️I will soar)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-09 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Does he have to explain basics of the fourth dimension?]

The fabric of the cosmos. Encompassing both time.....

...and space. [The pause was deliberate.]
wanderlusttitania: (so it's politics)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-09 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
...Like a quilt? Space and time are...quilts, then.

[You might be forgiven for thinking Sissi is looking at you a little funny for the comparison.]
mcfife: heartfelt (☀️all that I've known here)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-09 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the right shape.

[It's flat and has bumps, why not?]

But it's a cosmic quilt.
wanderlusttitania: (this knife)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-09 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. I...how does one know that's correct, though? How do you even prove something so...strange-sounding?

[For lack of a better word.]
mcfife: heroic (Now it's time to)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-09 06:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Our space wizards have studied space-time for centuries. I believe there are a set of mathematical equations that prove how it works, but I can't recall off the top of my head.

[Vague hand gestures. By his time, everyone assumes that the universe just works.]

We first study how the sun and planets move, then move onto the stars, then all cosmos. From there, we learn how to use these movements to our advantage, and that involves understanding space-time.
wanderlusttitania: (what has haPpEnEd)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-09 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
But...how?

[Her mouth is dropped.]

How do you move through the aether?
mcfife: happy! (☀️far beyond the sky)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-09 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Spaceships! Jetpacks, too, if they have enough magical energy. Robots and cyborgs can fly on their own.
wanderlusttitania: (what has haPpEnEd)

Ro....bots.......and...cy......

[If someone's mouth could drop to the floor in utter shock and awe, well, Sissi's would.]

That...sounds...
wanderlusttitania: (freedom)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-09 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
...incredible...but...amazing!

[She looks down.]

Maybe that's how we were brought here...on a space ship...a ship that can travel in the aether......
mcfife: angry (☀️with speed of light I'm to rise)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-09 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
A space ship that can link to other universes. That would take an immense amount of magic. [He looks up at a corner of the room. If the Wizard is spying on them, it could be from there.] Our Wizard of Order and his assistant are far more powerful that we can assume.
wanderlusttitania: (Default)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-09 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Then...you seem to know a great deal about how this magic works. Do you think we can counteract this magic somehow on our own?
mcfife: (🦄 cross the mighty river Tay)

[personal profile] mcfife 2021-06-09 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have magic, myself. I have a magic hammer that could defeat him, but we must first find him in his lair. It would have to be in a secret chamber, or perhaps in the highest room atop the tallest tower.
wanderlusttitania: (ah)

[personal profile] wanderlusttitania 2021-06-11 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
...It sounds like a fairy tale, when you put it that way.
