Week One

[Yesterday, everyone woke up in a strange place and realized that they'd been kidnapped, and also that everyone else around them may or may not be kinnies? Wow, what a weird escalation of kin drama! Given what some people have seen of Spongebob's freaky arm thing, though, maybe it's not that at all?

Your Assistant Director, Hester, showed off her stuff and immediately had her life threatened by Lumpy Space Princess, who got her life threatened right back. Maybe you should keep that in mind if you decide to pay Hester any more visits! She won't be making another public appearance this week, but as promised, she'll be available for visits and consultation in the Principal's Office during business hours.

If you don't want to chat with Hester, there's always the school to explore! Some of you might also be receiving mysterious coins next to your bedside this week - those must be useful for something, right? There's lots to do, and you all seem like a group who can make your own fun, so enjoy your first week of school!]

[Since seeing Salieri's announcement (and being able to read it through some divine power, despite having no knowledge of written language) Mumble's been looking all over for him. Luckily there's not many places to look, so it doesn't take him too long to find him.

He makes himself known at the doorway, lest he terrify the man once more this week.]

Maestro?

[It's good to be polite.]

[Salieri had been in the middle of some notation when Mumble appears, and he raises his head, turning a little on the piano bench to see who's asking for his attention.

When he realizes who it is, he straightens, setting the pencil aside] Ah, Monsieur Mumble. How might I help you?

[He takes the cue to come in.]

I had some questions. A-about the performance. [And not about the lack of Opportunities for dancers.] Do you think this is a good idea?

[violentenvies]

[...well, of all the people to ask that question, he wasn't expecting it from Mumble. Salieri blinks in surprise.]

If I didn't think it was a good idea, I wouldn't be doing it. But...why do you ask?

I - I mean, shouldn’t we be spending our time looking for a way out? Or trying to find a way to talk to the wizard, or…something like that.

[He’s not someone with a solid plan, but still.]

There are several that are doing that already. I myself tried to find a way out on my first day here, but to no avail. [he tilts his head slightly] My strengths do not lie in this area.

Furthermore...Monsieur Orpheus has never seen an opera before, and has always wanted to. He is a very kind young man and considering this is something I was already working on, it is something I could give him, at least in part.

[He tilts his head with fairness.]

That's...really kind of you. But not really my point.

[Said gently.]

If we all worked together, we could probably get somewhere and find out what's up. Even if you don't think you've got a way to help out, you probably do. You just haven't noticed it yet.

[An idea!]

Like - you're good at bringing people together! With what you're doing right now!

[Salieri folds his arms across his chest, then, leaning back a bit in his seat to look at Mumble, considering]

Then what, exactly, are you suggesting?

[prophetpriestandking]

[Mumble's making this up as he goes along, but hey, sometimes that's how you get things done.]

You could gather everyone, see if we can inspire them to all pitch in and work together. [He thinks further on it.] And - and like with the play, you could get them to bring their different skills along too.

That is a very good suggestion...

However, [Salieri tilts his own head, slightly] can this not coincide with the performance?

[prophetpriestandking]

...I suppose there's no reason it can't. I was thinking as a matter of where we put our time and effort, but it might help with the whole 'teamwork' thing. A-and maybe raise everyone's spirits too. Singing can be really powerful at that.

[He sounds a little wistful.]

And I'd hate to let Orpheus down too.

[Salieri is quiet for a moment as he considers the situation--and he's a bit more relaxed about it, if the performance can go alongside it.]

I...can't say I would be best for figure out whose skills apply to the particular task of figuring out how to escape here, but...I could certainly try to get people together to talk, at least. Perhaps there are those among us who would have a better idea what skills will be needed and what tasks they should be set to.

That sounds like a great idea! I'm sure if we all get talking it'll all come together.

[They just need someone who's good at leading and with appropriate charisma to facilitate it!]
